The man who works here is absolutely adorable and the price is super reasonable. Food is nice, but in my opinion not as good as some of the other jai places in Khon Kaen. Options are fairly limited.
We arrived around lunch time when only an unattractive smattering of buffet dregs remained. When we asked about kway teow (noodle soup), the man quoted us 40 THB - far more than for more upscale 'jai' restaurants in the area - so we returned to the 'aroy mak maak' eatery on Anamai instead.
Rice and 3 options for 40 baht. They also make som tam (papaya salad) on request and sell a few premade items.
Very tasty! The laab was my favorite. They actually made my som tam very spicy, as requested (although maybe ask for it without mock fish sauce, hated the smell). Tawanthomg was quite good too, but I preferred this place.
Went there for breakfast this morning. I had a plate of very tasty soy protein meat, mixed vegetables, and brown rice. They have noodles as well but I didn't sample that. Owner is a very nice friendly chap. Restaurant is outside, but under some cover so probably not too hot at midday. 30 Baht for a plate of brown rice with two items. Arroy Maak!
The restaurant is a bit difficult to find. Starting from the intersection of Hwy 2 and Sri Chan Rd, go east on Sri Chan Rd (Central Plaza on your left, NE corner of intersection). Go over the railroad tracks, then turn left at the 2nd left, which is a small Soi just before the new HugZ mall.
