Cheap and basic - Edit
After a long time unsuccessfully searching for the other vegan restaurant in town, we gave up and came here. It was fine: very cheap but basic home-cooked food. It had the shortcomings of simple buffet food but this is expected and compensated for by the price. Staff were lovely and have us some complimentary dragon fruit for dessert.

Good food, good portions and good value - Edit
A typical buffet style "Jay" restaurant aimed at Thais, not snooty westerners! Really good food on the whole, though one of the dishes I had was a laab and that was a little disappointing. Still, generally really tasty and good value.

Meh… - Edit
Staff didn’t spoke any English at all. Only told us when the food was spicy. Then she scooped like a spoonful of cooked rice at our plate. The food was also cold.

Cons: Cold food, Really small portions

*staff didn't speak (not spoke).... Learn how to ask for more then in Thai. It's easy enough to use Google translate! It's also normal for the food to end up cold in these buffet style restaurants. It hardly matters if the food is nice and spicy.

Decent filling food - Edit
Standard offering at a J restaurant. Two plates of rice each with two fillings (some spicy, some not) for 90 baht. Water was available and accessible by self service. Service was ok- functional and then she got back to watching programmes on her phone

It’s ok but overpriced - Edit
The food is ok when you are hungry and the owners seem to be very nice. But compared to other restaurants or foodstands it is quite expensive. 90 Bath for some rice and tofu seems quite pricey.

Ow! - Edit
How can food simultaneously be stone cold and yet so spicy that it makes your mouth taste of blood? 🤯 Don’t worry there isn’t even water to take away the pain 🤪

It's fine for once - Edit
This place wasn't my cup of tea but for once it's not that bad, maybe I chose wrong as I did it randomly because I did not know what was anything, and also it was not too warm. Maybe I works appreciate it more being a local and not a foreigner. TBH 105 bill that included a plate of rice with vegetables and vegetarian meat plus a couple of meat-like products (TBH 25 each), and two desserts (TBH 20 each). The also gave me a glass of water. I think you have to remove shoes at the entrance, but I did not realize until I went out of the place.

delicious jay food - Edit
Really delicious and fully vegan food, cafeteria style - for just 40 baht you can choose what you want them to pile up on your plate! Easy to find thanks to the big "jay" sign on top of the building. They also sell soy products and sauces if you want to cook at home.

Lovely - Edit
Not to dispute the previous reviewer but I think they may of been in the wrong place.
Read moreI got a large plate of food with several choices and a bottle of water for 65bht. See photo I have uploaded.
Food was nice although I had no idea what some of it was. I just pointed to things and the old lady heaped it on my plate.
Choice was rice (warm) then a choice of things from in a cabinet (Luke warm) or 3 different soups. Not sure if you could have things in cabinet with soup.
The old lady didn’t speak any English but was nice and friendly :)
Pros: Cheap, Lots of options, No idea what some things were no English spoken
Cons: No idea what things were no English spoken.

Small portions - Edit
After following some pins for vegan/vegetarian food in this town and finding many are outdated and non existent we were happy to find this one little place
Read moreUnfortunately very small portions are given. Literally a spoon of rice and then a dish you want. My husband asked for another plate. Well we were charge as if three lunches and had to pay 180 THB. So doubt we will come back and will be living off fruits and some little foods of night market and heckling other pins for the city.
Pros: All jay food

Good Jai food but very limited choice - Edit
This Jai canteen offers vegan food such as rice, tofu, soy protein dishes and vegetables. The food is good but the place is rather small and you have a very limited choice. I much prefer the Jai canteen 500 m North in the same street as it offers many more options with your rice, for the same price. That being said, the staff is nice and the place is vegan and cheap. It may worth it if you are nearby.

Lovely food and great value! - Edit
Standard tasty Thai vegan fare. The lady doesn't speak much English but we got around this with google translate. Rice and 3 sides came to 40 Baht each and we also got extra meals to take away, steamed buns, muffins and other treats. All in all the food was really tasty (watch it though as some things are very spicy!) and dirt cheap. Drinking water free of charge.
