Great value for money - Edit
The set lunch menu sounded very delicious and also had vegan options pointed out. I paid €10.90 for a Pumpkin & Basil soup, Seitan Sirloin with baked potatoes and an ice tea. The staff was very friendly and eager to explain how things are made. On my way out I still bought a carrot cake for €2,75 as take away - it was one of the most delicious cakes ever!!

Great food and ambiance - Edit
They have a good menu with starter, main course, dessert, water and bread for about 10.90 euros with a few good options. The music is good, the waiters are nice and the service is pretty quick. Also, the location is perfect in a tiny square in the middle of Born

A nice discover - Edit
My boyfriend and I were in Barcelona looking for a vegetarian restaurant and we found Vegetalia. The waitresses were very nice and smiling, the food delicious (we especially enjoyed the pudding and the burger), the menu is clear, indicating what is vegan/vegetarian/made from local ingredients, bread and water are included in the daily menu. As a conclusion, a good ratio price-quality.

Excellent snack food - Edit
We'd spent the day getting rained on and felt very bedraggled and in need of some hearty (not necessarily healthy!) food. We got a plate full of pita with hummus and oil to share and then I had a pizza consisting of tomatoes, pesto and seitan. The pizza had been dressed with some fantastic olive oil (oil was exactly what I needed after our day). My girlfriend had a huge tofu and seitan burger which had been crammed full of salad and was sided with some crisps (chips) cut from various vegetables. All in all, it was a fantastic experience. The waiting staff all spoke very good English and tended to our needs well. Not exactly cheap but not too expensive either, our food and drinks came to €29. Great location too.

Fantastic - Edit
Loved this place so much we went back two days in a row. The outdoor seating is great, out in George Orwell Square and pretty relaxed, nice place to chill. Service was really friendly and the food was fantastic with a great menu. Fine for kids as well and theres also indoor seating.

Fresh and tasty. - Edit
This little place is super easy to find, and the staff are helpful. The menu has a good mixture of snackish day-food; burgers, pizzas etc and amazing evening meals. Vegan options aren't vast but they are tasty. I had spring rolls for a starter both times I visited because they were beautiful (if they're still on the menu when you visit, definitely get them). Amazing, fresh cocktails. Wine selection, juices too.

Updating as I revisited earlier in August 2015, menu still exactly the same as 2 years previous. I had to have the exact same options as 2 years before too because the vegan options are really really slim. Risotto extremely bland. The cocktails are good though. Gutted to see there was an extra 10% charge to sit outside on an incredibly hot summer day.
55euro for a well below average meal, definitely wont be going back.

Disappointment - Edit
We were disappointed by everything : the +10% when you're on the terrace, not a lot of vegan options, the tables had plastic table clothes and they were used, the service was slow, the food was not impressive at all, it was not fresh, everything seemed industrial including the humus who was not vegan (how come humus can not be vegan I can't believe this !). When the check arrived I was shocked : 42 € for a bad lunch. Will never go there again. At least the neighborhood is nice...

Very nice place, we were not impressed by the food - Edit
The place is in a really nice place, especially the terrace, for which though they charge you an extra 10% on top of the Bill.
Read moreFood is good but not impressive.
I would recommend it more for the location and the atmosphere than for the food itself.
Anyway a special note good for the waitresses, they both were really lovely.

Excellent veg* tapas and dishes - Edit
We tried the veggie tapas, the Thai curry and the Seitan 'libritos', and everything - especially the paned libritos - was great! Nice, fairly quick service, and good prices. Would definitely pay another visit if my stay in Barcelona had been longer.

Good choice for brunch, lunch and cakes - Edit
We went here a few times while in Barcelona as it was close to where we were staying, well located for the centre and served good tasty food. There is a nice outside seating area in a pleasant square, English menus and a small but varied vegan selection which was clearly marked. The staff were friendly and efficient and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Unfortunately the brunch items didn't seem to be vegan friendly, but at least two of the cakes were.
Read moreOn the first visit I had the vegan burger which was very good, although it was served with nachos when some fries or wedges would have been nice at €9.80. Second visit I opted for paella which was delicious and presented very nicely. I also took some vegan carrot cake away with me which was lovely and went down well later in the day in our apartment. On the day we left Barcelona I had a portion of delightful Apple Strudel which hit a sweet craving nicely. My partner had a veggie pizza which was a bit topping heavy, a tempeh salad which was perfectly acceptable and a good portion of nachos which he enjoyed.
Overall a decent place to go for lunch, good choice and good food.
Pros: Good location, Good food, Friendly, Variety, Cake!
Cons: No vegan brunch, a little expensive, vegan choice limited

Delicious and healthy vegan food available - Edit
This was exactly what I was looking for. Although I wish they had more vegan items, what they did offer was sufficient and clearly marked on the menu. I had the menu del dia - a delicious spinach and raisin streudel, smoky orange tofu and roasted squash and a fruit smoothie to finish off. Included a glass of water, all for less than 10 EUR. Afterwards I went to Gopal a couple of doors down for a vegan choco croissant. The service at Vegetalia was good. The space is pleasant and tranquil. Recommended!

Good - Edit
They have few vegan option but they're good. The paella is not a regular paella, it seems more an italian mushrooms risotto.

Great for families - Edit
We have three kids, 1, 3 and 7. This had a good diversity for us to get everyone fed well and happy. A big bonus is there is a playground in the square right in from of the restaurant (geared toward quite young kids). Service was excellent. We had a couple different veggie burgers, a veggie paella, tofu nuggets. All quite good. I know there are a lot of vegetarian options in this neighbourhood and so it might not be the top one, but we found it very nice

Not great for vegans - Edit
The vegan options weren't great. The hummus was good but they give only a few pita dips... Spring rolls weren't great (first time kids didn't like it)
Read moreThe vegan paella... Well... Maybe healthier version with "arroz integral" but less tasty
And the "burger" was a surprise... Got a veggi steak (seitan and tempe) without bread. Just salad and brown rice (no sauce!)

so-so - Edit
In another city this would get three stars, but with the wealth of excellent veg restaurants nearby, this only gets two. Our waiter wasn't very knowledgeable, didn't know what we meant by cheese without animal rennet even when we translated it to Spanish. He seemed a bit surly at first but got more friendly. We ordered the three course meal, a good value. The spinach salad was large and good but the vegan options for the main course were limited and the tofu veg wok was only ok. The bread was old and stale and there was only fruit as a vegan option for dessert. We got the smoothie, again only ok. Rasoterra is down the street and a much better option.

A reasonable choice in the Gothic. - Edit
Had lunch here with my family. We all had the 3 course lunch special option. The vegan option was good, but lacked veggies. My children had tofu and cheese nuggets as a starter, which looked great, and came with a salad. Their second course was a veggie patty, and came with the same salad. I would love to say this place blew me away, but, like most veg places in Barcelona, the food lacked flavor (except Veg World India).

Good vegetarian lunch menu in English - Edit
Vegetalia provide a menu in English. The waiter apologised that it was from Google translate but it looked OK to us - our one and only disappointment with this restaurant was that the menu didn't provide any of the funny mis-translations we have seen in the past (one place in Mallorca has omlette as "Eggs broken").
Read moreI am afraid I went nothing more exotic than a pizza but it was excellent and just what I needed after a morning of wandering the alleys (and the beer was just what I needed after nearly being run over by a skate boarder, two cyclists and a very large school outing all charging towards an ice cream vendor).
Vegetalia is just off the Placa George Orwell near the water front and a short walk from the Picasso museum (free entry on Sunday afternoons after 3 btw).

Not for vegans - Edit
I went there by myself and took the daily menu because there is only 1 main course which is vegan a la carte and it's a paella.... But unfortunately the daily menu wasn't better. A carrot soup or a very dry and boring rice salad as apetizer. then a fideua or a tofu plate with couscous which literally consist in 3 big untasty slices of tofu and some couscous. There was no veggies at all. The only vegan desert was of course a "batido" and the fruit an veggie juices are in bottle... It's sad cause the restaurant is cute, the service is nice and all the non vegan options looked nice.
