Vegetage

If you're alone or just want to grab a bite, this is the perfect place. Not very cheap though, but fresh and nutritious food and great smoothies.

Pay what your plate weights.

I really don't know how anyone could not give Vegetage a good review. The food is delicious, inexpensive and beautifully arranged and the women who run the place are very friendly and genuine.

I have never eaten such tasty rice and the rest of the meal was lovely too. I am not sure which dishes were vegan but that's my fault for not being able to understand German very well. The city centre itself is historic and very attractive and while Vegetage is upstairs above a bar there is no reason on Earth why that should detract from all its charms.

The restaurant is hidden in the shopping center, you actually need to pass through another restaurant to get there and the interior is not very welcoming.

They offer a buffet, with the price per weight (a full plate is usually around 10 EUR), vegan options clearly marked. Some tasty seasonal dishes but also some really boring rice & vegetables type of thing...

In general, I have the feeling it's not worth the price and sitting in a middle of the shopping center is not very nice. Still, I appreciate the variety and the location is great for lunch breaks.

This place is in a huge shopping centre, so not so atmospheric. But, well, the food is good and there is a sufficient choice. The juices are pretty good.
The price for the food is ok (1,99 for 100g).

Heaving read the other reviews I was a little suspicious, but was proved wrong. The place is nice and cozy, the staff super friendly and the food fresh and tasty.

Good option for vegetarians and vegans visiting Freiburg. Food tastes nice but not so many choices. No vegan desserts when I went there.

Opened from monday to saturday between 11 and 20 h.
At the beginning of wonderful holidays in Black Forest(Baden-Württemberg), august 2011, we discovered it thanks to an advertisement in the corner of the city map! It's very surprising that Freiburg-im-Breisgau, thought to be the most ecological big city in Europe, isn't a very friendly area for vegans!
It's upstair the burse restaurant, in a multi-shops gallery. Access can be done via Kaiser-Joseph street(Berkhold-Str and Rathausgasse cross) too(where there is, I think, an organic food store somewhere near Holzmarket station). It's in the center of Freiburg near travellers office, townhouse and stores with veg choice (DM). Coloured stickers enable to know what is vegan or not. Note that exposed fruits and vegetables in the little plates are only for decoration and can't be bought and/or eaten!
