...geht aber noch besser - guter Tipp für einen schnellen Abstecher. Toll ist, dass es bio-vegan ist!

more than ice cream - Edit
Pros: best vegan ice in town, everything is organic, nice staff
Cons: rather high-priced

Cons: Limited choice - Food, Questionable tastes of some foods

European buffet, nice ice cream, large space - Edit
Mostly young, urban locals cater the restaurant / ice cream parlor. Quality of and choice of food buffet is excellent (I would call it European food & salad buffet). No 'garlic everywhere' overload like often in vegan cuisine.
Owners are big fans of Sri Chinmoy (the guru) and of esoteric, peaceful, 'smiling' spitituality. Hence, all goes in a very slow and peaceful pace.
Excellent ginger tea w/ lemon, chai latte tea (soy milk of course), etc..
Ice cream is very soft and comes in lotsa flavors incl. different berries, chocolate & orange, spirulina (algae), apple, etc., all biologically grown.
Pretty large indoor seating area -- and some chairs outside, too.
Prices are very high compared to the rest of Europe but completely normal for the city of Zurich: large plate of food'n'salad from buffet costs 22 USD, three scoops of ice cream 11 USD.
15 mins walk from central train station.
Pros: friendly, peaceful space, fresh, european food, ice cream! ;)

renovation - Edit
In August 2015 Vegelateria has made a renovation. Since then the name had changed to: Vegelateria & Amazing Strength Restaurant
The have now a new bathroom for ladies which is suitable for the disabled. In addition they installed a ventilation system.
Apart from the fact that the food is very tasty it is now a quite modern location.
A drop of bitterness remains since you can still not pay with Maestro or Credit Cards.

This restaurant offers something you hardly find together: vegan AND organic! You can choose from a wide range of cold and warm dishes in buffet style. The food is excellent, the stuff is very friendly and prices are moderate for the Swiss. Ten cows!
Pros: Vegan AND organic food, Very tasty and delicious, Very friendly stuff, moderate prices

Fabulous! - Edit
We are over in Zurich for a few days from the UK with a friend who works here.
She said we really should have lunch here and we were not disappointed.
The staff are all friendly and held and greeted us like we ate there everyday.
A buffet style system is in place for the food and your plate is weighed so you only pay for what you have.
Trying not to put too much on your plate as a first visitor is the biggest problem when going to an all vegan restaurant, and the food was just excellent.
I recommend this restaurant and think you should visit it if you are in Zurich
Pros: good food, lots to choose from, friendly staff

Good ice cream and coffee - Edit
Exhausted after a 20 km run, we were looking for ice cream near HB. HappyCow showed us to this place and we were not disappointed. (Although "near HB" might be an overstatement, it is definitely within walking distance.) The ice cream comes in about 15 flavours and you can taste them to help make up your mind.
During our visit, most tables were occupied by other visitors, most of whom were attending the vegan buffet. It looked good but we didn't try it.
Pros: Decent selection of ice cream flavours, Owner happy to tell you about the foods

Good buffet - Edit
I was there in the evening for the vegan buffet. Lots of choice from salad via hummus over curry to Zuricher Geschnetzeltes. I had to try everything and liked it all :-) You pay per weight, but it is really quite inexpensive for Swiss standards. Staff was friendly, too, and the place is quite cosy.

relaxing and delicious - Edit
A buffet where you can eat everything is a wondrous thing. As a family of four vegans that's what we got here. We are great fans of the pay by weight system here and elsewhere, ideal for a variety of appetites, and you can tell who's saving themselves for ice cream.
The owner and staff are very friendly. The music is a little soporific, though they didn't seem to mind me snoozing at the table while the rest of the family indulged in exciting flavours of home made vegan ice cream we've never found anywhere else.
There's a small range of vegan dairy products available to buy to take home, including a really delicious and creamy yoghurt.
Wouldn't it be nice to live down the road from this place! Well worth a visit if you are in Zurich for a day or two, as we were.

Not Bad. - Edit
There was a good choice of dishes at the buffet. None of it was that amazing, but as a slightly less expensive sit-down vegan place in Zürich, it was worth a visit.
I wanted to try the ice cream after reading other reviews. It was okay, but just like any other ice cream, beware of the sugar rush!
The interior is a bit heavy on the spiritual side and the lighting was too bright. It all felt very new too, but i'm sure it'll develop some atmosphere as time goes on.
Pros: All vegan
Cons: Too bright

good ice cream, but EXPENSIVE - Edit
I do not know how this place is rated as "inexpensive," as one tablespoon-sized scoop of ice cream costs several Euro, so if you get 3 tiny scoops you are already pushing 6 or 7 Euro (that's close to 10 dollars for a tiny dessert!).
With that out of the way, the selection of ice creams was excellent: coffee flavors, fruity flavors, chocolate flavors, and nut flavors. Delicious!!!
There was a strange vibe to the place, but the gelato was worth trying. We would prefer the desserts at Tibits though.
Pros: huge variety, high quality vegan gelato, interesting and delicious flavors
Cons: very EXPENSIVE, tiny portions, strange vibe

Great vegan ice cream in Zurich - Edit
We fell in love with this place. Service was friendly (and the staff spoke several languages). We sat outside enjoying the sun an our stunning ice creams (the coffee on is so good!). For lunch it seems like a buffet style with take out options and it seemed healthy. There is a place for children to play too.
Ice cream lovers, this is a place for you!
Pros: Ice cream, Outdoor seating, Kid friendly

Vegan Buffet - Edit
At lunch, I enjoyed soup and a tasty combination from the small vegan buffet, as well as vegan ice cream to top it off. The buffet is pay-by-weight. There was a mushroom dish that was delicious.
This restaurant was listed as 'inexpensive,' but now, maybe with the buffet, I would call it 'moderately-priced.' There is a good selection of raw salads in the buffet as well. The outdoor tables were nice on this sunny day!
Pros: tasty food, outside tables, vegan ice cream

Awesome Vegan Organic Food - Edit
I first thought Vegelateria wsa just a vegan gelateria, but was surprised to find out that they have amazing food as well. The food is warm, tasty, and huge for the price. The gelatos are awesome as well made with either rice milk or soy milk.
Pros: Yummy organic food, English speaking friendly staff, Sell vegan products, books, DVDs
Cons: 6 francs for a Gelato

top notch vegan ice cream - Edit
Licorice-peppermint ice cream. deep green spirulina ice cream. !!
The space is bright and open. The owner super nice.
Instead of heavy high-backed white synthetic-leather chairs it would be nice if there was simple, more ecological-mellow seating.
Pros: friendly
Cons: seating

Amazing Restaurant - Edit
My husband and I recently visited Switzerland and this was by far the best meal we had on our trip. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. My husband loved it and he usually does not like vegan food. The ice cream was very yummy. The food is also very reasonably priced. It was a great lunch date!!
Pros: Delicious Food, Great Service, Comfortable Atmosphere

Amazing! - Edit
It's been a long time since I was able to walk into an ice cream shop and choose anything and everything on the menu. This place is a bit pricy for an ice cream shop, but IT'S WORTH IT. I tried 5 flavors, and all of them were great.
Pros: All-vegan, Vegan ice cream
Cons: Too far from me

Great Choices of Vegan Ice cream - Edit
They have all sorts of home made vegan ice cream (sesame, chai, ... at least 10 choices), also nice place to have a coffee/tea. In addition to hot food, they sell various plant milks, vegan spreads and mock sandwich slices, sausages, tofu burgers, ... (all soyana brand). Plenty of sitting inside.
Pros: All Vegan, Ice creams

No to be missed! - Edit
I went there on a snowy Saturday of February. The place is brand new, it looks like only opened a month ago.
First, the atmosphere is pretty calm, which is an important criteria for me to appreciate lunchtime.
You can choose different options, starting with a 1 course menu including a soup or a salad for only 15.5 CHF which is quite cheap for this town.
Talking about the food itself, that is exactly what I expected on that freezing day: Spinach soup with some tofu (remembered me of Indian paneer palak), brown rice with curry sauce (including mushrooms), seitan with tomato sauce. The other option was steamed veggies, some kind of blanquette with a creamy sauce with mushrooms and dinkel seitan.
On top of it, the restaurant offers a selection of healthy dairy-free icecreams including half of the range made with soy & unrefined sugar, and the other half made out of rice and agave. We had amazing gianduja (so far the best I had, wether dairy free or not), vanilla & lemon and chai! Looks like hazelnut tastes rather nice too.
Overall, super nice experience if you enjoy healthy, organic, plant-based food consisting of the best of westernized Indian food, and local classics in their vegan version.
Moreover, the shop offers products from the Soyana brand (their oatdrink's so good...).
Pros: Healthy, Fresh made, Plant-based
Cons: None
