Convenient and tasty - Edit

This is simple foodcourt food but very tasty. It’s just next to Kyoto Station, open till late and the food comes out really quick so it’s great if you’re in between trains and feeling like a warming bowl of udon. I’ve had the curry udon and the roast tomato udon - both are good but if I had to choose I’d get the curry.
Not somewhere to go for a dinner date but for what it is it’s great.

Pros: convenient, quick , tasty

Quick, convenient & tasty - Edit

I arrived in Kyoto later than I had planned, so I actually came here because the vegan restaurant I'd originally wanted to go to had already closed shop. Was pleasantly surprised. I had read the reviews so I knew this place wasn't really a sit-down-meal sort of place but rather more of a meal-on-the-go kind of place. Seating is sort of cramped and it's actually just one of several eateries in a food court (unfortunately it's right across a BBQ grilled-meat place...). Near the entrance so you can't miss it once you enter the food court. Staff are very friendly, although I was surprised to learn that the staff member who served us was not vegetarian himself. Food itself is delicious. I had the Yuba porridge (on this page it says "soup" but it's actually a sort of porridge), the curry udon, and the açaí juice (I was hungry). All of the food was tasty. It isn't a "perfect" restaurant by any means but I'm still giving this place 5 stars taking into account the easy accessibility and the fact that it is what it is - a restaurant offering a quick bite in a food court - can't really complain about things like cramped seating for that reason. Vege Deli Kanna does the job of serving vegan customers, and it does it well - in this sense it more than met my expectations. I was very happy eating here and would do so again, if I arrive late at night (this place is open until 11pm!)

Nice, cozy - Edit

The restaurant is underground, there are not many chairs or seats but the food is delicious and the owner was very friendly so we had a nice conversation over dinner. If you are near Kyoto Station and looking for a vegetarian meal definitely go have a meal there.

Pros: good food, nice owner , normal price for Kyoto

Cons: maybe a bit loud as surrounded by other “food stal

Opposite Kyoto Station! Tasty and so convenient - Edit

Awesome location in the food court of Kyoto Tower, right across from Kyoto Station (use the underpass). Perfect if you're stuck and/or starving, and they're open late too (11pm) - which is rare for vegan places in Kyoto.

I had the veg curry udon which was delicious.

The two gentlemen who run the place are absolutely lovely too.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Excellent location opposite Kyoto Station, Cheap and cheerful

Cons: None

Cibo buono

Udon for the rushed - Edit

Right in front of the Kyoto Station (with direct underground access to it) you can have a quick Udon before taking your shinkansen to another city if you're rushed.
The plain udon is okay while the curry one is way more tasty. Cheap prices.

loved it here. very small but lively atmosphere in the food hall. affordable fare and very tasty. mostly the novelty of being able to eat all 7 things on the menu is brilliant. - Edit

We loved it here. Such a novelty to be able to eat everything (only 7 dishes) on the menu. Good English. My husband said the brown rice curry was very 'meaty'. Lively atmosphere in the food hall.

Pros: affordable

Small and simple. good - Edit

Small menu, just udon, curry, and omochi. I had the curry udon, and it was perfectly good. World have liked more volume, but it's understandable as most people in Japan looking for vegan food are women who don't need to eat all that much

Great little place, fantastic location - Edit

Cute little place conveniently located inside the food court of Kyoto Tower. Small menu but everything is vegan. The staff were super friendly.

Went twice with my mum and tried both udon dishes, the curry rice and black bean porridge. Particularly loved the curry which was beautifully made. The tomato udon was really good as well. Would definitely recommend this place.

small menu, decent food. - Edit

This is located in the Kyoto Tower food court right next to the pancake place and is called Veggie Deli. Even knowing the name it was hard to find but the pancake place sticks out so there you go. I didn’t care much for my porridge meal but the noodle dish my girlfriend had was great. They had beer so that’s an automatic star.

Delicious and in a very convenient place - Edit

Been there 3 times as it’s in front of Kyoto Station. The place was a bit difficult to find at first but definitely worth it (just turn left as you enter the food hall, the place is now called ‘Vege Deli’). They have delicious traditional food, I’d actually love to have the sweet rice porridge as breakfast! But I actually fell in love with the vegetable soup udon with tomato! It has a delicate and subtle but mouth watering taste. Amazing service, food and price, a must if you’re looking for a vegan place in Kyoto!

NOW CALLED ‘KANNA’ (Vege Deli) - Edit

Owner told us as of the 30/11/17, they are now called ‘Kanna’ or Vege Deli. No longer is it called Ayuna (but still same place). We had the set menu and it was delicious! Awesome Japanese pudding with black bean and lots of little other items.

Great traditional comfort food - Edit

I’ve always wanted to try Japanese rice porridge and this was a great experience! I had the pickled plum dish and it was very tasty. If you like traditional flavors and umami this is a great place. You can also order sake and beer with your food.

Pros: comfort food, traditional

Cons: hard to find in the food court

Tasty Japanese - Edit

So good if you enjoy more traditional Japanese flavors. This is not ramen or curry it is very Japanese ume flavor. I personally loved it but your mileage may vary. Give it a chance though, the staff are very nice and it's at Kyoto Tower and can be accessed from the JR line.

Pros: Traditional Japanese Flavors, Explicitly says No Meat Eggs Fish Milk, Serves alcohol

Cons: Traditional Japanese Flavors (if you don't like th

interesting option near Kyoto station - Edit

The sole menu item is not really soup, it's lukewarm rice pudding which I was happy to try. The meal set includes various little pickles and optionally tea and a small dessert. Good option if you are interested in trying new Japanese foods. Not cheap but not bad.

okay and fast - Edit

The tablet with the food is, it seems, nearly always the same.
Bowl with Rice soup/ Porrige and the topping that was chosen.
Tiny dishes with:
Sesame
Algae
Pickled radish
Pickled cuxumber
Soy sprouts
Silk tofu
Rice cakes
And dessert (if chosen)

The lunch menu was 1.000,- today including tea (Option A)
And 1.350,- including dessert (Option B)
(Both numbers including tax)
If you are not into the jelly, very sweet Japanese dessert you should skip that.

I liked it and it was ready immediately.

I don't know if I'm an especially hungry person, but I don't think it's enough food for lunch.
I'd recommend to have a back up snack with you.
If you are close or have just arrived by train you should go. From the station it'll take 10 minutes to get here.

Pros: fast, healthy

Cons: small portion, a bit boring

Rare to find (a) vegan here, tasty - Edit

The food is very nice traditional Japan food for a reasonable price (860 yen for the set menu). The set menu comes with Kyoto tofu, which is much more creamy and soft than any tofu I've eaten before. It's also in a cool spot, in a food hall under Kyoto tower (Kyoto Tower Sando) with lots of young people. I'd recommend going at night (not that I've gone during the day though), it has a nice atmosphere. Closes at 11pm.
