Excellent spices and herbs

The location is a little bit confusing since it’s near a multi-directional intersection at the entrance of NTNU, but you should see their large green letters spelling “Veganism” outside. It feels comfortable and spacious inside, and it seemed like they made good use of fans and air vents to keep the energy usage low without feeling muggy.

The staff were really warm and kind: after bringing out the bilingual menu, the waitress also showed us photos of each of their entrees to help us decide what to order. Additionally, the owner overheard me posting my food sensitivities and came from behind the counter to confirm what I could safely order. Menu items clearly indicate which ones contain alliums (i.e., the ones with red dots). They don’t use any nuts in their normal menu items, but all of their desserts on the chalkboard contain almond flour. The soup has a coconut milk base. All of their food and desserts are gluten-free.

I loved the carrot noodles with turmeric tahini: what a great way to eat the rainbow! The variety of boiled vegetables that came with our entrees was beautiful: Malabar spinach, okra, cabbage, sweet peas, and yellow bell pepper. Raw pea sprouts and alfalfa sprouts also adorned our plates. Mine specifically came with a vegan carpaccio salad with fresh tomatoes and olive-oil marinated tofu.

For the first four entrees listed on the menu, you can choose either roasted sweet potatoes or multi-grain rice to accompany your meal. We were both very satisfied with our sweet potatoes. My friend ordered the Brussels sprouts with beetroot sauce, and the sauce is a tahini that also has rose petals in it.

If you flash your Plants Fan VIP card, you get 10% off your entree purchase. We also each happened to have NT$50 vouchers from the LINE points we’ve accumulated on each of our digital rewards cards, and they let us use the value right away.

What made me love this place even more is the fact that they are zero-waste and bring out cloth towels as napkins at the end of your meal so that you don’t even waste disposable paper napkins! They also have three pitchers of water you can serve yourself: plain, cardamom, or cloves. I’ll be back when I’m in the area.

Pros: zero-waste, pet-friendly, flavorful

A New Favourite, with Indian Food

This place is very unique for Taipei, in so many good ways.
The owner/chef has lived in India, and the food here follows Vedic philosophy. This means (among other things) that spices are used to enhance health, which has been shown scientifically to be effective.
Perhaps more significantly to many people, it serves Indian-style meals which are 100% vegan, the only place in Taipei to do so. (Flavour of India is vegan-friendly, but not all vegan.) It also serves a range of Taiwanese and international dishes, and great fusion food.
The interior is very nice, at the end of a quiet, tree-lined pedestrian street.
It has free wifi and power.
This will become a new hangout of mine.

Pros: Only vegan Indian/vedic restaurant in Taiwan. , very reasonably priced., Nice interior with a garden outside.
