Pros: Service, Good, Atmosphere

First timer

The owner was friendly. However, I'd like to see more details on the ingredients on how alkaline the menu is. I have an alkaline plant-based diet. I didn't ask the questions that I wanted because the owner said everything was 100% vegetarian. I left the establishment wondering if the fried items I ate were from non-seed oils and seasonings organic, i.e... salt, sweetners, breading/flours. I appreciate having an establishment that caters to vegan or plant-based, but I'd like to see more transparency with the ingredients so that I can make healthier menu choices.

Pros: Friendly

Cons: The young need more hospitality training, Vague about food ingredients & sources i.e. oils,, Menu doesn't appear to be alkaline

---
The burgers were good, but the fries were boring.
A few things bothered us:
1. It was very dark inside.
2. The prices were not displayed anywhere.
3. Questions were answered rather curtly or not at all.

Family-run SOUL food

From the outside, we knew this place was going to be cooking up some good stuff. We were not wrong. We ordered almost a bit of everything but I enjoyed my red bean special, which was almost a sample platter. Every item was delicious, and the candied yams as a side is almost like a free dessert. Speaking of dessert, if you go for the beignets, you made the right choice. You get a huge box filled with dough-fried deliciousness worth every bite. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and I definitely think the red beans were the star of the show. Anything on the menu would be excellent. The service was also very friendly and family-run. The cashier taking our order was a young man who was very helpful in giving us tips on what to order! The whole experience was great and should be a must-stop for any veg or meat head looking for some vegan food. SOUL food.

Great Food; Better Service

Spicy Double Cheeseburger was on the docket for today. Incredible. I had to unhinge my jaw like a snake to eat it. Price tag was a tad steep, but totally worth it. Fries were dynamite. Whatever seasoning was on them was fantastic. Didn’t even need ketchup.

The service was dynamite. A very professional and attentive young man took my order. The cook peeked out at one point to make sure he had everything under control, and he confidently replied he did. He was not wrong. Better service than I have had from folks three times his age. Bravo, kid. As someone with decades in the hospitality industry, it warms my heart to see the next generation out here killing it.

Pros: Fat portions, Great service, Cool atmosphere

Must Visit if Vegan in Baton Rouge!

Super welcoming atmosphere, I walked in and was greeted with lots of positivity. Super cute little restaurant, very nostalgic. I got the red beans and rice while my boyfriend got the garlic parm pasta w/oyster mushrooms. Both were absolutely delicious. The red beans were thick, smoky, and flavorful while the garlic parm took me back to pasta I ate before I was vegan. Then, the fried oyster mushrooms on both are the stars of the show, with a thin catfish-like batter that won’t leave you feeling all bogged down. The sides were really good too, I never was a fan of yams, but when I tried these candied yams, I changed my mind. I also got some German chocolate cake that was extremely moist, decadent, and wonderful. The portions in the photos are a bit off, since I couldn’t help but eat a little before taking them. Definitely recommend coming here and check their instagram for their daily menu!

Pros: Delicious food, Welcoming staff, Cute atmosphere

Love the mushrooms!

This place is the jam! Had the fried oyster plate!! So delicious! Hit the spot!

The vibes are on point too! So cute! Family owned! Like REAL family owned. I travel for work and hit a lot of vegan spots across the country. And I gotta say this is one of my favorites!

The owner is the chef and the whole gang here is so great and friendly.

Pros: Fried oyster pasta, Chickpea stew, Jambalaya

Cons: No free water on tap

Best vegan food I’ve ever had

We were in Baton Rouge and had to stop by. Ordering via phone was pleasant and the atmosphere was spectacular. I ordered the oyster mushroom plate with potato salad , yams, and beignets. The meal was the best I’ve ever had the potato salad tasted like my mom’s and the more mushrooms were cooked perfection. I can’t wait to go back.

Amazing!!

Recently exploring vegan choices and VV gave me a wonderful dining experience. The oyster mushroom sandwich was wonderful-fresh, savory, and so fulfilling! Homemade French fries were very hot and delicious. Can’t wait to try some more options here!

Fabulous Soul Food

By their suggestion I got the red beans and rice, potato salad, collard greens, and it came with fried oyster mushrooms. Absolutely fantastic! The fried mushrooms were by far the best mushrooms I've eaten. They included a type of sweet and sour sauce that had a slight kick to it that was really tasty when dipping the fried mushrooms into. The portion size of everything was a lot too. It did cost $24 but I had so much food. I would gladly give more stars if I could! Highly recommend!!
One cool aspect is that their menu changes daily and they stay open either until closing time or until their food runs out (which they told me is fairly often). There aren't enough of these all vegan restaurants around so if you are in the area, DO stop by!!

Pros: Incredible portion sizes, Daily menu changes, Super cool staff

Cons: Nothing, Nada

Delicious vegan food

Ordered the redbeans, which came with fried mushrooms, and my friend got the ribs. We both got the greens and pumpkin as sides.

I really liked my redbeans, it wasn't the drier, saucy-like redbeans you get at the Chimes or similar, but the more liquid redbeans style. Really tasty, although a bit salty and I wish they could include vegan sausage in it. The greens were also good if a bit salty, and the pumpkin(sweet potato?) was almost like a dessert , I think there was a maple glaze on it.

Fried mushrooms were liked even by my friend who said they don't like mushrooms. Their plate of ribs were a little salty as well but tasted great otherwise.

Overall the food and atmosphere were great and welcoming, I just think the food could be a tad less salty.

Order and pay at the front counter, then go sit down and the food is brought out to you. There's an outdoor area but I didn't see any tables to eat at outside.

Pros: Great flavor of BTR in a vegan form, Staff were friendly

Cons: Wish the food were a little less salty

Just went back and had an amazing dish, steak that came with loaded mash potatoes and 2 other sides (I chose sweet peas and candied yams). The steak was great, texture was really good and the taste was so...tasty! It was so much I didn't think I could finish it, but I ended up loving it so much I didn't have any leftovers. I think i saw the steak was mushroom based (I'm not certain), but it wasn't mushroom-y at all.

Only thing I would say is that the mashed potatoes were instant, kinda gummy in texture so not as good as they could have been.

Oh and we sat outside, kind of high tables with taller chairs, nice place to sit outside.

Food was less salty than last time so they must have listened to my last review 😂

Good

Went for a day out and had the oyster mushrooms. Absolutely beautiful. But the greens weren't that great and the beignets seemed to be biscuit dough deep fried; the taste was great but not the texture. Some improvements would make it amazing but it was good.

AMAZING!!

The best word to describe this place...A-MAZ-ING!! To my knowledge, this is the ONLY FULLY VEGAN restaurant in the Baton Rouge area..I'm totally ok with that, since the food is soooo good. Now, if you're trying to lose a few pounds, this isn't the place for you. This is a vegan soul food spot..I'm talking yams, bread pudding, burgers, collard greens, lasagna, fried okra, fried oyster mushrooms, fried cauliflower wings, Mac n cheese...good ol' comfort/soul food..vegan style. These are just a few of the offerings that they have. They switch it up, so there's always something new to try. Let me tell you, this is some good food. I ordered two entrees (one for today and one for my Sunday dinner). This ISSA VIBE burger is a vibe alright..it was delicious. I ordered it with sweet potato fries (which were a $2.99 upcharge). I could resist tasting the lasagna which came with 2 sides ( I chose the collard greens and yams)..also delicious!! The bread pudding was BOMB in the best way!! This is some of the best vegan food I've had thus far. Inside the establishment is cute, clean and cozy..makes you feel really comfortable. The owner is one of the sweetest people you ever want to meet. She works hard and deserves for this place to remain a success. Let's make sure that happens and continue to support this wonderful business.

incredibly flavorful beans

both the red beans and rice and the side of black-eyed peas were unbelievably good. the fried mushroom sandwich was also fantastic—the mushrooms were thin enough to be properly cooked and chewy, with a great fried exterior
