Small restaurant that is tucked away down a side street in Kandy city center. Used to be fully vegan but has since incorporated some dairy in to the menu. Offers a mix of local and western foods such as rice bowls, wraps, smoothie bowls, and pizzas with vegan cheese. NOTE: Please verify if still fully vegetarian. Open Mon-Sun 7:30am-10:00pm.

Many options, nice place - Edit
Western food place that serves also non-vegan but had a whole separate vegan menu with plenty of options. Had a tofu and cashew rice bowl that was a bit flavourless. Sitting area on the rooftop was very nice.

Lovely setting on a rooftop terrace, helpful staff.

Vegetarian pizza was a lot better that my partner had.
Rice bowl also no flavour unfortunately.

Served Tap water and broght Smoothie with milk - Edit
The location and comfort was very nice with seats on the rooftop with many plants. The friendly waiter asked if we were vegans and we confirmed that. We ordered two different bowls. They were good but not very special in the taste. I also ordered a Tropical Smoothie. After asking the waiter he confirmed me there was milk inside. He apologized and brought me a new one with coconut milk. I still think it was clear the we are vegans and should be communicated better with the kitchen. But serving tap water is really not adequate!!!

It is not vegan - Edit
This restaurant is a section in a non vegetarian restaurant Mulberry. They share the same kitchen. It should be marked as veg options.

Worst pizza ever - Edit
The vegan pizza Margherita was easily the worst vegan pizza I've ever had. It was doughie, and tasted only like tomatoes and nothing cheesy. There was no basil.
Read moreIn the bathroom there was a crazy big black mold spot that makes me worried for the hygiene in the kitchen.
Would have given 1 star if I could, but I can't since the place is marked fully vegetarian. However: it isn't fully vegetarian, but has a seperate vegetarian card.

Come hungry and leave hungry - Edit
We had pasta and a wrap and it was the saddest thing we ever saw. My pasta was like 4-5 scoops. The wrap was without any sauce, dry and with the amazing amount of 5 wedges on the side.
Read moreThe place was also rather hot.
I can't rate it 1-Star as happy cow would not let me.
Would absolutely not recommend.
Cons: Very small portions, Bad value

Fine - Edit
Now connected to another restaurant called ‘Mulberry’ they still have the Tranquil Rose restaurant area and menu.
Read moreAs said before, no vegan cheese available (as were some other dishes) so they replicated with grated tofu on our pizza. Pizza was made with Italian flour and pretty good, but toppings were a bit boring and I’ll-thought out (eg carrot?!)
They do serve beer there, although they didn’t mention it when asked about drinks.
Burrito very good
Pros: Good for a change to Sri Lankan fayre, Nice staff
Cons: Quite hard to find, Too many dishes on menu unavailable , Limited effort on ingredients

Okay western-ish food, bit expensive, not all vegan - Edit
Small place located near the end of the alley and up a narrow staircase.
Read moreAs noted, it's not vegan anymore and there are some dairy dishes on the menu; it's not totally clear what contains it so be sure to ask. Pizzas appear to use dairy cheese now; they could not make pizza with vegan cheese when I asked (but I'm not sure if that was just because they didn't have vegan cheese on that day, of if they've stopped serving it entirely). Many of the dishes on the menu were not actually available when I visited.
I had the tofu and rice dish. It tasted fine and the portion was okay, but it was a little expensive for what I got. Still, if you're looking for more western vegan fare in Kandy, it's not a bad option.

it took some searching but then you have something - Edit
#Veganuary

Pizza delivery - Edit
We were so excited to find we could get a vegan pizza delivery to our hotel in Kandy. However it then turned out that they had run out of the vegan cheese (you can’t buy it in Sri Lanka, so I presume they hadn’t made any that day or something). We swapped it for crumbled tofu. Our order arrived in around 30 minutes which was great, but there was a mistake with one of the pizzas and the toppings weren’t very well cooked. They re-sent the entire order, and it arrived perfectly cooked and exactly as ordered.

Happy to see this space - Edit
What a surprising find, I came across this on my last day in Kandy. It's hidden away down a little alleyway and you have to walk up steps to get to the cafe. If you think am I in the right place? You are. The menu is diverse, not fully vegan but a good majority. I tried the cashew rice bowl and it was delicious. Also had the orange, carrot, ginger juice but it was just alright, I believe it was mixed with water. Definitely recommend, felt nice supporting a (almost) vegan business
