Huge Menu, Amazing Vegan Sushi - Edit
Vegan Shoku is fantastic! We keep coming back to try new things because the menu has so many options. The Oshi are beyond delicious!!! We also visited for a special valentines dinner, served by the chef himself. 10/10 would recommend.

Cannot recommend this place enough!!! - Edit
I had been wanting to come to Vegan Shoku for a while and it absolutely lived up to my expectations. I had the chicken bento box and my partner had the beef one. We also shared gyoza. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Non-vegans wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference! Definitely worth the 1.5 hour drive up from Bellingham. I will be back for sure!

THE BEST SUSHI!! - Edit
Went to Vegan Shoku for the first time tonight and was BLOWN AWAY!!
Read moreI absolutely loved how it was “classic” sushi rolls but made vegan. My husband and I tried so many rolls and each one was a hit! I highly recommend the rainbow roll, spicy tuna roll, beef teriyaki roll and Philadelphia roll. I look forward to our next trip to Vancouver. This will be our new go to restaurant. The staff was also so kind!

Unseated our favorite sushi spot - Edit
Vegan Shoku was incredible. It's exactly what I've searched the globe for, amazing vegan versions of traditional Japanese sushi. I'd come visit Vancouver again just to go here.

Re-creating the classics - Edit
This restaurant has lots of great reviews, and I agree! But what stood out for me is that they re-create some of the sushi rolls and dishes that I haven’t had for years. For example, making a vegan California Roll, or salmon maki. Most sushi restaurants that do vegan just stick to making rolls with veggies, but this restaurant has pulled out the stops so you don’t have to compromise. All the usual sushi rolls and it’s all vegan. And they taste great! Love it!

Exquisite experience - Edit
The food is delicious, creative and beautifully made. The menu is quite expansive with almost too many choices. It is very obvious the chefs are artisans and very familiar with vegan cuisine. These are far more than typical veggie rolls.
Read moreThe price is a bit high but certainly within the range of fine dining. My wish is that the chefs consider a vegan omakase prix fixe menu. The quality is certainly at the level where such an offering would be warranted. Definitely worth your consideration

Vegan spam sushi - Edit
Ok, I am not a sushi expert. I can’t tell you exactly what we ordered, but I loved it. I somehow doubt spam is a traditional sushi ingredient but it’s sure tasty. The vegan cheesecake we had for dessert was pretty good too.

Good place to stop by! - Edit
Cozy small place with various options! That said, if you are looking for an exceptional sushi experience you might be disappointed (if you have been to Japan or excellent Japanese restaurants before). Otherwise, it is really nice that they are serving fully plant based sushi!

Amazing! - Edit
This restaurant is an hour away for me but I travel down because it's the best sushi! Obviously everything is vegan like the agedashi tofu (where dashi sauce typically has fish sauce in it at omni Japanese restaurants), so it's nice to be able to order everything without checking the chef first. The sushi is amazing and I can't wait to go back again.

VEGAN SUSHI in Kerrisdale!!! - Edit
Wow, finally a 100% plant based place in Kerrisdale!
Read moreLovely staff and delicious food, reasonably priced and beautifully served in a cosy setting.
Seeing this new gem in my neighbourhood made me SO HAPPY! I've only visited once so far (this afternoon!), and the Tofu Teriyaki Lunch Box I had was very tasty and fresh. I'll definitely be going back and adding more to my review!
Although there are many sushi places in Vancouver, including in Kerrisdale, I hardly ever get to eat any as most restaurants offer only "vegan options" and so, you either have to trust them that they do prepare the vegan dishes in a separate area or you have to ignore the chances of cross contamination... Besides, I genuinely hate the smell of fish and seafood, so I can't really enjoy even a fully vegan option if the whole restaurant smells badly... A fully plant based sushi place is a real treat!

I've been to Vegan Shoku many times since my original review, and I continue to be impressed! I've also taken a few non-vegan (as well as vegan) friends there, and they all like it a lot 😁. Thanks, Vegan Shoku! 🙏🏻

Best vegan sushi! - Edit
I visited Shoku from Australia in July 2023 and I can gladly say that I haven’t had better sushi anywhere else. I believe I had the “salmon”, “tuna” and California rolls. Service was fast and the flavours were incredible. The vegan meat/seafood was very realistic.

Creative & Delicious Rolls - Edit
Sushi is my absolute favorite food, and as a vegan, when I can have creative rolls, I am beyond happy. While in Vancouver, I ordered Sushi Shoku through Uber Eats, and I am so happy I did. I tried their tofu bento and their salmon avocado oshi. The tofu itself in the bento was not my favorite, as it was very soft, but this was also likely worsened by the fact it was sitting in a takeout container for a while, so it may be better in person. The miso soup and tempura veggies were average, but it is always nice to know for a fact something is vegan.
Read moreHowever, the sushi was delicious. I have had a decent amount of vegan sushi, and the salmon and tuna (the tuna came with the bento box) are some of my all-time favorites. I am not quite sure how to describe the flavor, but I loved it. My whole (nonveg) family was impressed as well (translation: I was only able to eat about half of my order… lol).
I look forward to trying this place again and, hopefully, next time in person!

Salmon on fire!! - Edit
Had a really good time here, will definitely come back!! Here are the things I've tried:
Read more(1) Eggplant salmon - Super creamy and decadent. Great textures. Comes in plate of 5 pieces, so good for sharing. May be a bit heavy if you have more than 2 pieces.
(2) Vegan takoyaki - Taste is almost same as traditional Takoyaki and texture is a bit firmer but overall good regardless. Would get again!
(3) Unagi roll - Pretty good, could use bit more unagi sauce for my own preference. Prob won't get again cus it wasn't that special and I'd want to try other things.
(2) Salmon on Fire - This was definitely my favourite one! The main salmon topping piece is the same as that in the eggplant salmon, so I would avoid getting both. I prefer this roll much more since the rice balances the heavier flavours from the salmon.
Reservations available.
Pros: Big menu, so many options, Everything was really good, A good number of commute options (Bus 41, 16, etc)

Great service and variety! Delicious! - Edit
Loved the service! I tried Eggplant Salmon, Spam sushi, vegetable gyoza. I don’t drink alcohol and they told me every drink is non-alcoholic. I had a delicious red wine with 0.0 alcohol content. I highly appreciate their guidance in ordering the food and drinks. Enjoyed everything! They gave me a discount coupon for my next visit. I’ll surely go back. 😄
