Wow! - Edit
Great find in HI. The coconut soup was my favorite. Jackfruit sliders good too. Decor was very bland. No artwork, plants on the wall. Perhaps coming soon. Happy friendly waitstaff.

A Lot of Potential - Edit
This place has a lot of potential but has missed the mark. It hasn’t been helped by constant opening time changes and staff turnover.
Read moreBut the food is great, if not somewhat repetitive with a few of the dishes. I’ve had the Burrito Bowl and the nachos and another Mexican inspired dish I can’t recall the name of right now but they were all pretty much a variation of the same thing. A great tasting same thing but some more variety is probably needed.
The ambience is very problematic— if you have sensory concerns in terms of noise this is not the place for you. It is stark white, concrete floors, wooden benches and no artwork or soft furnishings whatsoever to absorb any noise.
Pros: Great tasting food , It’s an all vegan restaurant in Honolulu
Cons: Ambience , Lack of variety , Staff are a little cold at times

Have been there several times during our stay in Honolulu. Very friendly staff and a good variety of food. Not many variations on breakfast, more all day food.

It was good! We got the tu-not melt, tomato bisque and a breakfast slider. We got 3 things for about $35 and I wasnt really that full, but everything tasted good. Nice to have an option available.

Tasty - Edit
I was really excited to try Vegan Hills. It was one of the restaurants I found when researching our Hawaii vacation. The menu indicates whether or not a dish is gluten or soy free or could be made gluten or soy free, which I appreciate as I’m intolerant to both. Everything we had was delicious, but the portions were very mismatched. My husband ordered the Thai Summer Salad, which was absolutely gigantic and delicious. I ordered the French toast and it was such a small plate of food. It was really tasty, but I finished the two small slices of toast very quickly compared to my husband eating his salad. It would be nice if it came with fruit or potatoes to make it more substantial. I’m not sure if the non gluten-free bread is bigger or not. Someone at a table near us ordered the pancakes and they were also huge. I had the Chakra kombucha drink which was delicious and the iced americano, also very good. I was still hungry so I also had the chocolate avocado mousse, which was a special that day. It was the best part of our meal.

Vegan Hills - Edit
Vegan Hills is a nice, somewhat fancier vegan option in Oahu. That said, you probably don't want to show up to dinner in a bikini and flip flops.
Read moreI had their rainbow salad in the past and remembered liking it a lot, though I didn't not like it so much this time--not sure if they changed anything but the dressing was pretty bad. The potato entree was made with truffle gravy and was so delicious that I was determined not to leave a drop of it behind (but for the sake of not looking like a slob, I left some behind). The cauliflower dish was also quite delicious and healthy too. Despite the rainbow salad being OK, I think the food here is pretty great and I'll definitely return.

Food is good, but pricey and small portions - Edit
I went solo and sat at the bar. Servers are awesome and attentive. I felt like a sandwich and had tried the tunot melt on a previous visit, so I ordered the VLT. VLT wasn’t bad but wasn’t great. And for $15, you get a pretty small portion. I kept this at a 4* since the other dishes I’ve tried here in the past were good.

Wonderful brunch, good dinner - Edit
We came for dinner and brunch while visiting Honolulu. The first time we ordered the chicken tacos, risotto, and bruschetta. The bruschetta was very good, but the main dishes were slightly bland. We got cupcakes as well, which were good but overpriced at $5 each.
Read moreThankfully, we decided to come back a couple days later to try the brunch menu. Everything this time was fantastic! We got the spinach dip, tu-not melt with tomato bisque, and berry pancakes. If the dinner menu was as good as the brunch menu, this would be an easy 5 stars!
Pros: Fantastic brunch, Friendly staff
Cons: A little expensive

Good, but not the best - Edit
Went for brunch. We ordered and they said they were out of tempeh so we changed our order completely. My friend changed her order to a bowl that came with rice and they said it was going to take 20-30 min for them to make the rice, so we ordered an appetizer for the long wait and I ordered the “tunot melt” with soup instead of salad. My sandwich came out with salad and I realized I got the VLT (the T is for “tempeh!”). They were nice about it and remade my order, but had they not said they were out of tempeh I would’ve gotten something else. Food was good, but not the best and I was pretty disappointed in the experience. Having said that I would go back and give them another chance. Definite need a reservation.

Must-Eat place for vegans in Honolulu! - Edit
Went here for lunch. The place is a somewhat smaller locale, but they make the absolute most of their space. Very relaxed place with super friendly staff!
Read moreThe food was terrific! Even if I wasn’t a vegan, I would still come to eat here!
We started with the jalapeño Mac and cheese; delicious! I think they have a wizard in the back that makes the cheese sauce because it was so creamy. Perfect side dish!
The tunot melt was tremendous! I’m not sure what they used to create the tuna but it looked and tasted very much like what I used to eat in my pre plant based days! The cheese was melted perfectly and the dill sauce was so so satisfying!
We also had the red hot chili bowl and it was a fantastic blend of flavours! Perfectly cooked rice and just the right amount of spiciness(see my earlier thoughts on their cheese sauce😋)
For any plant-based people out there or even folks just curious about what innovative and delicious things you can create without animals, this is the place to go!

Everything we had at Vegan Hills was amazing! The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was bc it is a little pricey - $14 for the pumpkin pancakes special was a little steep.

This is one of my favorite vegan places in Honolulu! - Edit
This place has so many delicious options! I always look forward to eating here! The vegan tuna melt is so great but the bread sometimes changes, not a fan of the focaccia. Some days are amazing, but sometimes we come here and it seems a different cook was in the kitchen as sometimes the meals are inconsistent. I recommend this restaurant if your looking for a tasty vegan lunch in Honolulu.

Amazing - Edit
We went on vacation to Hawaii. Hills was the first restaurant we tried. We should have tried them last because they set the bar too high. We shared nachos and they came out almost immediately. They were amazing. Their non dairy cheese had me at a loss for words. I ordered a taco salad and my partner order the barbecue Jack fruit tiny burgers. The taco salad was so filling. I added jalapeno queso to mine. It wasn't a bad idea. The Jack fruit tasted like they marinated it. We don't know if they did but that's how good it was. My mimosa was great as well as her mixed drink. We left very satisfied. Best vegan restaurant in Hawaii.

Good food - not fantastic service - Edit
Great food and a good variety of options. Something to suit everyone, especially if you are coming with people who are not vegan. I got the tuna melt, and it was very tasty, especially with the jackfruit tuna.
Read moreI am disappointed to only be giving this place a 3/5 because after the reviews I was expecting a 5/5 experience! However, the service was not particularly attentive nor friendly. It made the overall experience a bit ‘meh’. It would also be cool to see different bread options for the sandwiches.
Do not get me wrong, it was not a bad dining experience and I would come back but I think I may have just struck at the wrong time.

Great refresh after diamond head - Edit
Starving after going up the diamond head trail. Parking a bit scarce around vegan hills. This area reminds me of san fransisco. Those that are use to suburban life need to be ready for street parking. Food is amazing. Ordered nachos, mac and cheese, chocolate shake, and two tuna melts (tu-not melt). Everything was amazing. Highly recommend the nachos and the mac and cheese. Mac and cheese was the best ive ever had, hands down, and ive had vegan mac and cheese from places all around the country. Pricing was fair. Left this place stuffed, with a couple to-go boxes.

Jack fruit sliders were sooo good! - Edit
The tuna sandwich was nice too. The crazy for avo bowl was good but the sliders really won the meal. We also got the milk shake, not enough sugar for our taste. Tasted too healthy to us Haha. The food could have used more salt and sugar imo
