One of our best vacations - Edit
We had a wonderful time staying for a week at Els and Mathieu’s. They have created a beautiful place in the middle of nature with breathtaking views. The meals were an absolute highlight every day cooked with lots of passion and fresh ingredients from the garden. As we travelled by train, we rented e-bikes in Tolmin to get around (highly recommended) and got lots of great tips for day trips and hikes from Els and Mathieu. All in all, this was one of our best vacations yet.

A perfect home base for exploring nature - Edit
I can't say enough about our time here! Els & Mathieu have worked so hard to create a beautiful mountain retreat, and their love and care is evident in every aspect. It's the perfect mix of rustic and comfortable.
Read moreIf you've come to Slovenia to get active and explore the gorgeous National Park or stunning Soča River valley, this is the perfect place to fill up before your adventures, and recharge at the end of the day. Or, if you want to spend all your time at the house, relaxing and soaking in the pristine wilderness, it's perfect for that too. And did I mention the food?? Everything is prepared from scratch (with many ingredients straight from the garden), but with expertise and flavors you'd normally expect to find at trendy vegan cafes in major cities. This place has it all, and it was a genuine struggle to leave when our time was up!

Amazing Mountain Stay! - Edit
Els and Mathieu are wonderful hosts! This place was amazing from the moment we stepped out of the car. It felt a bit like going back in time. We had a delicious and thoughtfully prepared dinner each night, and the most gorgeous breakfasts each morning. There are so many little nooks and places and to sit and just take in the breathtaking mountain scenery, read, draw, or pet one of the many cats that call this place home. We enjoyed getting to know our hosts and letting them take wonderful care of us - providing tasty food, comfortable accommodations, recommendations, and evening chats. This place is worth every penny and effort to get to it! If you’re in Slovenia, do not miss it.

(Vegan) paradise on a mountain - Edit
We've loved every second of our stay at Els and Mathieu's place. The rooms are big and cosy and the garden is so relaxing you could spend the entire day in it. The four cats wandering through the garden probably made it even better.😄And there are lot's of tips for walks and day trips.
Read moreAs a vegan it's often stressy to find food when you're on a hike or in a small town. During our stay at the b&b, we didn't have to worry for a second and that made us feel even more at ease. Every morning, we got treated on a delicious breakfast (with a view!), during noon, when hiking, we enjoyed our take away lunch and in the evening we could dine with the other guests without having to worry about 'oh, is this vegan'?
There's a lot of variety in the food you get and the best for me was: you always get a dessert (even in your lunch box!)😄A lot is home grown and self made and Els is also very willing to share her recipes, so I'm eager to try some!
I've been missing the place from the second we left, a must do in Slovenia!
Pros: Warm welcome, Delicious, home made food, Lot's of tips for day trips
Cons: Only con is we couldn't stay any longer! :)

The B&B is a very nice place near the triglav nationalpark. We stay there for three nights. It was fantastic. The house is really sweet and the garden is beautiful.

Read moreWe really appreciated the quiet location in the middle of nature with a fantastic view over the mountains. The whole property has so much character, especially if you consider Els and Matthieu creating this place all by themselves!
The vegan food was one of a kind, wow: Homemade, from the garden, and so much variety! There was something new to try each day and the quality was great, it‘s a real vegan paradise.
Els and Matthieu were so kind and always helped with planning our activities. We were especially amazed by the beautiful crystal blue water, which flows in the rivers and waterfalls nearby.
All in all, we felt so comfortable, welcomed, ate the BEST vegan food, discovered amazing spots and we can only recommend it!!

A delightful and peaceful fantasy above Soča's paradise - Edit
I lack words in either slovene or english to describe the experience. For me it was one of the best weekends in the last few years - the place made me feel nostalgic for my childhood years that I had spent at my grandparents on Kras. You can see how much sweat and tears Els and Mathieu had to put in to make it look and feel so cozy and beautiful. I have used a past tense, which is a bit disingenious, since they are still experimenting, working, growing - everyday you can experience a new cullinary delight and appreciate the design of the backyard, which is alive - literally and figuratively (since there is always something new being 'built')

You know the feeling when you finally return back home and your mother awaits at the doorstep - interested about your day, your life and always has something for your empty stomach? That's how I felt and if I could, I'd stay there forever.

This bed and breakfast was perfect. The owners are lovely people. They grow their own vegetables and cook delicious food with high quality ingredients. They renovated the place by themselves and it's charming and rustic, and our room had fresh cut flowers from the garden. We ate there 3 meals every day for 3 days, and the meals didn't repeat themselves even once. The location is so beautiful. We got travel tips and a ride from the nearest train station. We even managed without a car. You can find hiking trails straight from the house. My omnivore husband also loved the vegan meals, those are probably the best meals we had in Slovenia. If you visit Slovenia this is a must.

If you are looking for a beautiful location with very personal engaged hosts, visit Els and Mathieu at her small paradise. Every meal was a positive surprise, even the breakfast and everything was cooked with love and experience. The atmosphere was always friendly and warm and we could perfectly relax for one week. Mathieu gave us precious recommandations for hiking and we always felt welcome.

We can only recommend Els and Mathieu's place. We quickly felt at home. It is the perfect base to explore the region or to just relax and read a book in their amazing garden.
Read moreThe food was excellent all three days we stayed (we asked for a picnic pack for our trip back home, which was delicious too). As vegan foodies, we were in heaven.
The hosts were incredibly kind and very patient, even with our cat-obsessed young dog. They made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The house and the surroundings are beautiful and we only wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely come back.

We've spent 2 days in this simple guest house run by Els and Mathieu, a very nice couple to talk with. Silence, relax and nature are key words. The inside renovation is cozy, welcoming and comfortable. Very clean space. The food is AMAZING: great choice and taste. We'd go back now even only for the superlative breakfasts and dinners! We booked a weekend at this B&B to find peace and quiet, and were rewarded with a warm welcome, a fantastic environment, and a extremely pleasant stay.
Read moreCompletely surrounded by Slovenian forest, you'll find this amazing B&B. Els & Mathieu renovated the entire house by themselves, and put all their love in it. Our room was very spacious and neat, but we also hung out a lot in their big garden.
Els & Mathieu are two brilliant hosts who know everything about the region, and are alwyas glad to help you with any questions.
Because the B&B is so close to the Triglav National Park, we did a few hiking trips in the surroundings. Els & Mathieu provided us with the necessary information to find the most beautiful spots around.
We were treated like royals and came back fully relaxed. Would definitely recommend!

Heaven on earth for nature-loving vegans. This was definitely one of our best family holidays we had and we will for sure come back. Els is such a great chef. She prepared the food that is not just extremely delicious but also very nicely presented for the eyes. Their place is quiet, an excellent place to relax after a trip and to plan the next day. In this Mathieu is very helpful, he knows all the hidden beauty of the region, not only the main tourist attractions.

Els is an amzing cook!!! Everything is vegan / vegetarian and they use almost exclusively the products that they cultivate themselves in their beautiful yard.
You get spoiled in the morning with a breathtaking breakfast on a most scenic spot in the garden.
The whole place is bathing in relaxation and ease...
Even just thinking back can’t do anything else than putting a big smile on my face.
VERY highly recommended!!

Quiet, all vegan, almost everything out of their own garden, children are very welcome and entertained by the real nature and the host interests of nature,... Nice country of course, get to meet people at the dinner table, get your private breakfast table with a view and all kind of creative foods, spot wild animals,...
