Easy to book Street Food Tour, wonderful fun to be had! - Edit
I booked online in advance of my time on the island and made sure to schedule early during my stay so that I could get an upfront, "boots on the ground" feel for the places and streets I'd be walking through. This Street Food Tour is not to be missed if you love walking, talking, meeting fellow vegans, and getting some insight into the Ortigia environment. Tonia has worked hard to cultivate (dare I add, also educate some) restaurant owners, chefs, and others who work day-to-day in the food businesses of this very tourist-oriented old town. Her own personal stories, which she offers if the group is interested, add an additional layer to the fun involved.
Read moreShe will show you buildings, streets, fountains, trees (there are few!) shops and churches, a temple, but most of all, where and how to find naturally vegan Sicilian treats, along with some that have been intentionally veganized to accommodate those of us who have chosen to eat this way. There are additional resources she makes available to participants once the tour is completed; it's obviously impossible to cover everything in three or four hours, even on a small island.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time, and while the food may be vegan, it is also street food, which is a "treat" or a special item you may not incorporate into your everyday eating. But when on vacation, do not hesitate! You will walk a lot and burn it off, ha ha...
Tonia's connections to the folks at the various places we stopped was notable; having relationships with the individuals as well as their owners or founders, chefs, etc. only adds to the credibility and authenticity of her tour. My friend and I stopped at a place not on the tour, Just Veggies, and caught the chef/owner present and his place open for business. At the end of the meal, I mentioned Tonia and learning of his place during the tour. He LIT UP!
There wasn't a bad bite along the tour stops, and meeting fellow vegan-ish folks from a country other than my own was also a treat. The cannoli at MOON and their housemade kombucha? WOW...
[*NOTE* -- there are Gluten Free options all along the way and Tonia will make sure you are taken care of if gluten is something you need to avoid.]
To sum up.. Tonia is knowledgeable, approachable and friendly, ready to help, and knows the places, the people, and the food well. The small old city Sircusa island of Ortigia will charm you on its own, so why not take a stroll, eat some goodies, and have a great time?

The vegan street food tour with Tonia was amazing. She is such a lovely energetic person and makes the tour very special. My wife and I had a blast with her. We got to check out some places we would have otherwise just missed because we would have thought that they don’t offer anything vegan. Also we learned a lot about Ortigia and it’s history and explored some really nice parts of it. Time was flying by and we had a great afternoon. We can definitely recommend everyone to take the tour especially if you are vegan.

Tonia is one of the best guides I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know. Her 3 hour tour is top notch - full of fun and interesting history and stories, at least 4 delicious vegan treats and is great way to learn about the vegan food scene in Ortigia! I wish I’d done her tour on my first day so I could go back and visit some of the places she shared! I’m Whole Food Plant Based, so not strictly vegan, and this tour was perfect - Tonia knows her stuff, and the food she guides you to is absolutely fabulous!

Tonia took us on a fun, delicious and interesting tour through the historic island and she doesn't only know the stuff you'll find online. She knows that one super delicious cake in the cosy café that is vegan (but not labeled, because it traditionally is without animal products) and where you can find the best vegan arancini.

Tonia's Vegan Street Food Tour is an all-around wonderful experience. This is SO much more than a vegan food tour! As we walked around the island, we also got to take in some of the beautiful and historic sights, while Tonia told us about the local history. By the way, she's fabulous! She is funny, insightful, engaging, and more. What is more, it was delightful to witness the fun relationships she has with people at the eateries we stopped at! On that note, the food was fantastic! From sweet to savory, over the course of 3-hours, we got to enjoy a (more than) full-meal treat. We can't recommend this tour enough!

My mum and I had a fantastic time with Tonia on our vegan food tour of Ortigia. I'll start with the FOOD because that's what everyone's here for haha and it really was some of the best vegan food I ate in Sicily. Especially the arancini and fruit tart! My mum is a non-vegan and said she didn't miss not having her regular food at all because it was all so delicious! I really recommend the tour for vegans and non-vegans alike, it suited me and my mum both, as foodies.
Read moreTonia was a wonderful guide - a great storyteller, really friendly and caring, super prepared for everything and very attentive (bringing bottled water for us to stay hydrated in the sun, a rubbish bag, wet wipes for our hands after eating our delicious food, etc). We joked a lot and my mum and I both agreed that it was like spending the afternoon with a friend. The tour itself was relaxed yet informative and very interesting, and Tonia was always open to our questions, and even when she couldn't answer, endeavoured to find out and expand her knowledge. Tonia was well informed about the local landmarks and wider history and culture of Sicily, as well as throwing in some cool Sicilian-based vegan facts! She kindly also offered to take photographs of my mum and I and was a great photographer, which is always nice when you're on holiday just the two or you as it's hard to get photos together. After the tour Tonia kindly took the time to answer my questions about other vegan recommendations in the area - we need to come back already!

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the time spent with Tonia. We visited Siracuse after season so many places were closed down for the winter or refurbishment but Tonia found the other places and let us try some delicious sweet and savoury traditional Sicilian food.
