Shutting down - Edit
Even though most of the shelves were half empty you could still find a lot of good vegan products. It was an amazing experience not looking at the ingredients to check if it's vegan. Unfortunately they are shutting down the store.

No checking labels required - Edit
So exciting when you can walk into a grocery store and not have to check any labels! An experience I have never had before. Many options but a bit overpriced.

All Vegan Supermarket - Edit
Vegan búðin in Iceland, the largest supermarket on the planet that exclusively sells vegan products, is a big step in the right direction for all who advocate for a better world for animals. Having a supermarket dedicated to vegan products not only provides a wide variety of options for vegans but also promotes a more sustainable lifestyle.
Read moreYou will not be disappointed because they have an impressive variety of products, including all the renowned brands. The staff is friendly and the owner, Daniel Ivanovici, like his predecessor, has a vision that all vegans share.
I spoke with the owner, who told us that running a supermarket competing with larger supermarkets that only offer a limited selection of vegan products is a considerable challenge. Therefore, it's essential for the vegan community to support and promote this unique supermarket.
Vegan búðina is a positive step towards a better world for animals and a more sustainable future.
Pros: Great variety, Owner with a great vision, Big step in the vegan direction

Small corner in Reykjavik - Edit
A good discovery in Reykjavik, everything is vegan so you don’t have to worry about checking labels 😆 I also found my favourite vegan cookies (that unfortunately are no longer available in Portugal)

An all-vegan supermarket - Edit
Imagine our surprise when we - two vegan roadtrippers visiting from the UK for two weeks - discovered such a huge vegan supermarket in Reykjavik. Literally stocks everything you could imagine. Pricey of course so you'll want to hit up Bonus for your staples and just pick up a few treats here.

I was so happy to learn that I'd be traveling to another country and have access to an all vegan grocery store. I love walking into a store and not having to check ingredients for everything I'm interested in buying.

Vegan Budin - 1,000 Stars! - Edit
This store is incredible! It is the largest 100% vegan grocery store I’ve been to in my entire life … and I’ve been to many around the world.
Read moreVB stock products from all over the world. I saw many of my staples from the US and the UK as well as many products from around Europe. Some products I would have expected weren’t stocked, but that doesn’t matter because VB carry so many products and alternatives that it doesn’t even matter.
I can’t wait to share the vegan caviar I bought with friends back home. I 100% love this store!

Brilliant - Edit
Absolutely huge range of vegan items, stocked up for several days and even bought some stuff to take home that we can’t get in the UK. The staff member was lovely and explained what the different pastry options were. I ended up getting one of each. There is free coffee and oat milk at the entrance. Small trolleys for toddlers to push around and a play ‘till’ whilst you are paying.

We could live in Iceland because of this store. - Edit
Everything you need in a grocery store is here. Fun stuff that can’t be found elsewhere are the highlights of wandering through the aisles. Next visit, we’ll need to stay where we have access to a kitchen, as there are loads of frozen food items we’d love to try.

WOW!! Vegan haven right here. We visited at the end of our trip, wish we would have stopped earlier. Definitely stock up on some goods before setting out on the ring road. Several rows of freezers, dried goods, large fridge section with protein and vegan cheese/dairy items. Also has toiletries and soap refills if needed.
