Nice pastel de Nata - Edit
I was excited to try this traditional Portuguese tart:)
Read moreI also tried soy chilli with rice, both tasted ok but I think the place wasn't the cleanest during my visit which slightly ruined my experience.
I was sitting upstairs, a massive cockroach on the wall was making me company while my food was getting ready.
3stars because of it, otherwise I would give 4 stars.

Don’t Be Put Off By Mixed Reviews! - Edit
We almost didn’t visit here due to previous reviews but I’m so glad we did!
Read moreThe gentleman serving us was so friendly and kind.
They had a lovely selection of different sweet and savoury bites at the counter, and there was a sign detailing food they make up for you also. We chose some of the small bites from the counter, including of course the Portuguese pastel de nata! My first experience of pastel de nata was delicious 😋
The food was all tasty and reasonably priced.
The decor is great! Colourful and pro-vegan. Feels like a lovely, happy space to grab lunch. There is also a cute chalkboard in the toilet for people to write messages on which is fun!
Note: be careful you don’t miss it as the sign is quite small outside if you approach on the same street. We nearly walked past!
Highly recommend stopping here when in Faro!
Pros: Kind staff, Tasty food, Pastel de nata!

Nice food, not a warm welcome - Edit
We hunted this little cafe out, despite mixed reviews.
Read moreI had a chicken free butter which was great.
Sadly the lady serving was hostile from the point we went in. The prices for pastry’s weren’t labelled so I asked how much they were as they prefer cash payments. I wanted to check I’d got enough to take some home too. She was outright rude, told me her English wasn’t good and to help her out! Maybe add the prices so you don’t need to asked!!!
She then told me to wait upstairs for my food, I felt like a child being told off!
I wanted to eat here to support a vegan independent business but unfortunately the lady was so rude I wouldn’t go back again!!
Pros: Solely vegan , Good options, Nice burger
Cons: Rudeness of lady serving!

Lovely cake - Edit
Popped in on the way past and grabbed a biscoff cake and custard doughnut for after dinner, both delicious and gutted we didn't have time to stop for some of their meals.

Nowhere special - Edit
Popped in here for a quick drink & snack before heading to the airport for our flight home. There's a reasonable choice of sweet & savoury snacks. I tried their pastel de nata, but it wasn't the best I've tasted. I'd hoped for an iced coffee but they had no ice! To top things off, the girl behind the counter was very unfriendly! All in all, a bit disappointing.

Average and Overpriced - Edit
It was ok, we had the Vegalhau. It was filling and tasted ok but could if done with some more flavour (reminded me of English bubble and squeak just not fried). Both my children had side of chips but they came with lots of paprika on them so one child wasn’t best pleased. Also for the2 meals, plus 2 side chips, 4 sodas and 4 small chocolates it was €48 which we though was a lot of money for what it was.

Cons: Needs more flavour, Overpriced, Place is abit run down

My wife wanted to visit to try the vegan pastel da nata. She had an individual one and I had a slice of a larger one. Both were delicious and the coffee was good too.

La comida no está mal, pero la chica que atendía nos trató muy mal, muy malas contestaciones y nos puso en el pedido cosas diferentes a las que pedimos

Portuguese-style Vegan Delicacies - Edit
Vegan Box serves Portuguese-famous pastels, vegan desserts, and savory dishes in the center of Faro, adding to the impressive lineup of high-quality vegan cuisine in this seaside city.
Read moreWe ordered an Oreo cookie cake, a regular cookie cake, cheese, and pastel. The cakes—layers of cookie and a buttery frosting—were dry. The “butter” overpowers the taste of the cake and lacks enough moisture to soak into the cookies, leaving them stale. The cake wasn’t bad. It had all the right ingredients to succeed. The cake could impress if higher-quality butter with more moisture was added.
The cheese is a must. It has a faint seafood taste and a wonderfully gritty texture. We ate it on crackers. It was divine. The pastel was also amazing—eggy custard, nice soft skin pudding-like on top with a tinge of cinnamon. It’s everything you ask for in a vegan pastel. I’m not afraid to admit that we visited multiple times throughout the week and ordered at least 8 of these tasty treats.
Vegan Box demands attention from any vegan passing through or living near. It’s the best (and only) place to get a pastel in Faro. Hopefully, one day, I’ll be back for the cod.
Pros: Friendly Owner, Pastel

Old food, nothing available, closed during opening times - Edit
Closed at 6.15pm on a Saturday in April but said it would be open at 6. Went back at 7pm and it was open, no customers, with loud music. Went in for vegan Nata, there was none available, very few items available, more jewellery for sale in fact. Bought the vegan salamicake and it wasnt fresh, so stale and old. Seems to be a real mix of reviews but for us it was very disappointing

Lovely little vegan place - Edit
Lovely little vegan place about 5burgers to pick from and 3 other dishes. A big variety of cakes and mashed-baked-foods. We got the seitan burger and tofuana burger and three cakes. The Burger was good, and it comes with the most delicious homemade chips. Also got tasty vegan mayo. I liked the biscuit cake, bit not so much the small pudding ones. Would 100 recommend and I would definitely eat there again.

We took two burgers to take away since the place is very small and has no outside seating. Very good anyway. There were also many desserts and dishes of the day.

A super inspiring treasure trove of vegan deliciousness - Edit
This was one of our favourite vegan finds in all of Southern Portugal! It's got so many amazing options - all delicious and home cooked from scratch using fresh healthy ingredients. Run by a local Portuguese family, the menu is hugely eclectic and changing all the time. They do all sorts from indulgent burger and potato wedges or super healthy salads, curries, bean chillies and everything in-between.
Read moreOne of the other highlights is the deli counter which has daily changing small bites and treats: mini savoury pastries, lupin cheese, pastels da nata and a host of vegan cakes all featured when we stopped by. The smoothies and juices also need a mention as they were all made from scratch too and tasted sublime.
Veganbox is one of the most inspiring vegan businesses we've come across on our travels so far and it's well worth a visit to try their delectable offerings.

Excellent food, we had the Seitan Burger menu. The small restaurant is unobtrusive, simple and a little run-down, but clean and run and decorated with passion. Portuguese mix of indifference and friendliness.

I ordered some salted and sweet food and the person who served me was quite grumpy. The food in the window has no explination, this is why I asked what was in it. The salted food had so much salted in it that I put it away.
