First time in a vegan restaurant - Edit
I came here for my birthday and I didn’t leave disappointed! We had a burger and a seitan salad which were both great. The only con I can think of is was that I told the waitresses I needed more time to choose and than she never came back. Later I found out that she’d already gone home and nobody came to take my order. Anyways we sorted it out and my salad arrived at last.

Average or below average food - Edit
This place was never amazing but the food used to be fine, sometimes surprisingly good. After rebranding I was hoping for improvements but in fact the food just got worse and more expensive. I gave it several tries and was always disappointed by the food.

Okay if you need vegan food in Kosice - Edit
Great location however they didn’t have coffee when we came. Also the food was okay but very oily. Even the soup had a layer of oil.

Retro experience - Edit
Nice 90’s throwback😄Half of the menu is asian though so you can enjoy something little less retro as well. Could be good choice for dinner with parents or grandma so they can eat something they know not burgers etc as in most vegan places.

Not bad not terrible - Edit
An OK place to go for a lunch if you are in Košice and you’re vegan. We ordered the udon bowl and pho - it was ok, but not very authentic at all. It was like if my slovak grandma tried to do asian food. It was not bad, but a bit strange. Next time I would choose something from the “traditional europian specialties” on the menu as it seems to be the niche of the restaurant. I’m not sure if I’d visit again.

Great service - Edit
A beautiful place you can take your family for a dinner or just go for a tasty lunch yourself in the city centre. Huge selection of meals from Asian, Indian and Slavic cuisine, burgers and daily menu. Very sweet service and short waiting time. Food is good - not too fancy but the portions are huge and will fill you. Some meat eaters might get disappointed that meaty dishes don't taste like meat, but for vegans this is truly a heaven.

Yummy - Edit
The food is yummy and filling, and the menu looks interesting and diverse. Most of the dishes are vegan and they are marked on the menu, there are also some gluten-free options that are marked as well. It was the first place we visited in Kosice, and we’ll definitely be back for more!

Classics in oddly decorated place - Edit
They have all the eastern european classics in veg/vegan version. I’ve been in Ajvega twice, once last year and once this year. Both of the times i enjoyed. Service is ok. It’s cheap, it’s fast, it’s good. Menu is confusing but they can make everything vegan. Pierogi were the best!

Vegan food in a typical central EU family-style restaurant - Edit
Vegetarian restaurant with many vegan option. Family-style restaurant with ordinary menu, the only twist is that it is vegetarian/vegan. Conventional setting and overall feeling. Took me down the memory lane. Beer was standard. Staff seemed somewhat bored.

It is really almost a vegan place - Edit
The dishes are nice and very affordable, they have vegan cheese, vegan mayo, and a lot of traditional veganised dishes, such as guláš, or boršč. They also do cakes, coffee, beer, and have seitan. It doesn’t look modern, the restaurant is ran by an elderly couple, but the food is outstanding, they have and English menu, and offer desserts, too. Definitely recommend.

Pleasant but a confusing menu - Edit
While good that they have an English menu it wasn't easy to tell what was vegan so we sort of just hoped for the best. Nice place though and lots of food for the money.

it was okay - Edit
We ordered vegan plate for 2 and I think it was small for two people... it was quite hard to recognize vegan dishes on the menu.. It tasted good, potato and mayo salad was great as well as vegan mayonaise.. Go there if you are looking for some vegan junk food..

Good for people who didn't get over meat yet. - Edit
The place is definitely not vegetarian but it does have vegetarian and vegan options. The selection is quite broad but the food is far from amazing. It seems like something good for people who didn't completely get over meat yet: most of the vege dishes follow regular recepies but have soy / seitan replacements of animal products. It is affordable but not more than some other fantastic and more creative vege places in Košice (VE.DOM.E, Govinda).

Something different - Edit
I liked Restauracia AJVEGA. The decor was simple and the waitress didn't speak any English but she brought us out English menus and it was easy to understand what was veg and vegan (I'd say 90% of the menu is vegetarian and 50% of that is vegan). You can figure out what's vegan by looking at the allergens code beside each dish (eggs, dairy, and fish are all listed, as well as gluten, nuts etc). I had the bean stew which was yummy and filling and my boyfriend had the goulash which was also nice. It was good being able to try somewhat authentic Eastern European food. Nothing too fancy, but a decent place nonetheless and we left with our tummies full! Also we were very impressed when the bill came. We paid just 15 euros for 2 appetisers, 2 mains and a dessert. Sadly there was no vegan dessert :-(

disappointing... - Edit
After cooking dinners on a small single stove for 1,5 weeks, we were looking forward to some good healthy food and went here. Unfortunately we got a bit disappointed...
Read moreThe place calls itself a vegetarian restaurant, and it's not until you see the menu that you learn they also serve chicken etc. Maybe the idea of seperating the two parts is nice, in practice it doesn't work.
The interior is nice and the terrace outside is very pleasant to sit on warm days.
The food we got was good but not fantastic (we were quite hungry and ended up ordering way too much...). We did get a free appetizer which tasted nice.
The choice is huge (even too much in my opinion), and it's very extensively written which items have milk, eggs etc. Perfect for vegans you'd say, but here comes the catch: The vegan soup we ordered got some cream in it, which the waitress couldn't tell was vegan or not; the supposedly vegan salad had goat's cheese, but also here the waitress couldn't tell what cheese it was...
In general the experience was very strange. The place feels more like a restaurant where health freaks and dietics would go to because their menu is very elaborate on which items contain what, but in the end the restaurant don't care.
It could be a really nice veg restaurant, but our experience was a letdown.
Pros: central location, nice interior
Cons: staff not knowledgeable, cheese added without asking, 'health food' atmosphere

A Slovakian Rarity - Edit
We were happy to eat a late evening meal at Ajvega in June 2013. The restaurant is an interesting concept: one side is a vegetarian side and the other is the 'diet menu' side which caters to special diets and does serve meat. We ate on the veggie side. The food is simple and satisfying, though not gourmet. It's also very inexpensive. We appreciated that much of the menu is Slovakian and Eastern European food made vegetarian. Then there are meals like burritos as well. We like the cheery colours and the patio too. Great find!
