I’ll Bhavan More

Faced once more with the overwhelming need for quality Indian cuisine, I turned to this outlet of a spectacular chain that has very quickly become a firm favourite. Assured in my mind that I would be getting outstanding fayre with fantastic flavours, the only real question was would I finally be able to restrain myself and not order an unsightly amount? Quite comprehensively, and predictably, the answer was, of course, no.
Though I can’t take all the blame on this one. With a menu that is absolutely stacked with unique and interesting options, I defy anyone not to get at least a little carried away, especially when the prices are so reasonable - I would expect to pay at least three times as much for the equivalent in my homeland.
In terms of the food, everything was as outrageously impressive as I suspected it might be. Quite honestly, there was nothing that disappointed, but there were one or two items that really stamped their mark on proceedings.
Just squeaking in at the top of this list of particularly excellent offerings was the cashew rava dosa. Texturally brilliant, its light, lacy batter concealed a cache of generous, beautifully flavoured filling, which made for an unexpectedly joyous experience.
Other entrants to this catalogue of champions were the delicate, fragrant Subzi Makhani, the peculiar-looking yet phenomenal idly fry; and the simply sumptuous crispy fried mushrooms.
One last special mention has to go to the vada. While only a simple staple, and certainly not as flamboyant as other dishes on the roster, they were executed with perfection and the best I’ve had in a long time, if not ever.
Despite the fact I ran rampant here, there are still numerous other delights to be sampled, and I see no reason why I wouldn’t be back to do so.
