Vandal - Edit
I loved what I ate quesadilla with wild mushrooms and chorizo and potato empanada. Had an El Chicano cocktail.
Read moreWould have gotten the HC sticker. Don't see one on the window.
Revisited last night had empanada and celerity katsu taco both were great tasting and flavour. Partner had chagrined corn and zucchini flowers. He enjoyed them both. Had lychee mocktail.

Good - Edit
Delicious and refreshing tuna ceviche tostadas. Aesthetically beautiful.
Read moreStuffed zucchini flowers were ok but bland, and birria nachos were unbearably spicy, probably picked about 20 slices of chilli with seeds out.

Get the set menu - Edit
I’ve eaten at vandal a few times in its original location and the new location.
Read moreThe layout of the new location ads a bit more chaos and some seats are a bit [censored]. The back room feels like a bunker (all concrete walls and floor with no windows?, and you constantly feel like you’re in the way, because this room is also the kitchen and where all the dishes get picked up from. The previous venue layout had a much better vibe and better atmosphere flow. If you book and it’s going to be a nice day, sit outside.
The menu has a huge variety of dishes and something for everyone. As great as range is, not all the dishes are exceptional, and I find some items as stand alone dishes to be very average and forgettable. The set menu features the best dishes, and crowd favourites. I cannot stress enough that you should get the set menu, because you’ll have a better time than picking one possibly average dish if you do A La Carte.
If you decide to not order the set menu and do A La Carte, anyone who’s ordered something that is on the set menu will receive their food 20 minutes before everyone else and possibly even well before you receive your drinks.

Pros: Large range on menu, Cheap set menu, Fast service for set menu
Cons: Some dishes are average and forgettable , Bad delivery of dishes à la carte together , Areas of the venue feel like a bunker

They moved! But they’re still awesome - Edit
Same quality as when they first opened but now in a new; better location 300M away from the old one. Great vibes, phenomenal set menu, will be back at some point!
Read moreJust don’t head to the old location confidently like I did because you’ll be confused and upset thinking they are no longer with us. But they are! And they are fookin SICK!

Wow. Wow. Wow. This just beat crossroads in LA for the best vegan resturaunt. It’s not only the best Mexican food I’ve ever had, it’s the best vegan food I’ve ever had. This place deserves Michelin stars. I’m actually at a loss for words about how good this food is… wow. Wow. Wow.

A lot to taco 'bout - Edit
We went on taco Tuesday for half price tacos. It was awesome to try one of each! They were all very different and a few stuck out as some as my favorite bites on vacay. We liked the eggplant, celeriac, and prawn ones the best!

Delicious Food, Fantastic Service! - Edit
We absolutely adored vandal, the 5 star reviews were correct. We awww'd at each dish, gobbled it down, and were excited to try the next dish. We did the set menu and added in a few desserts.

Very unexpected.. - Edit
We were mixed between doing the dine in/the set menu and then decided to go with the set menu which was 38 dollars. The well known Kimusabi touch is definitely there. All of dishes were full of flavour! Can’t fault what was tasted on the palate. I think this would be a great place to take your non vegan loved ones. Customer service was divine.

Pros: Decent priced set menu, Indoor and outdoor seating , Not far from Newtown station

Lovely tacos (me saying this as non taco-lover) - Edit
I don’t really like Tacos, but since I have heard they are the same owners as Kimusabi sushi (which unfortunately closed down temporarily) & took over the venue in Newtown, I had to try their tacos. The funny thing is a few of them are same as the sushi topping of the nigiri or maki fillings.

All very nice and flavourful and I love the guac as always! Also no coriander in the Gauc so highly appreciated
They have 4$ tacos on Tuesday and 15$ margs (don’t want to drink so don’t know if they’re good).
Great and same service as Kimusabi
Still think Kimusabi is better since it’s Japanese fusion and not mex 😂😅

One of the best in Sydney! - Edit
Very scrumptious food and big portions. We ended up ordering bit too much but ate everything. We had Birria nachos, very good and comforting, potato & chorizo empanada, huge and delicious, full of tasty stuffing and four different tacos: pr*wn, ch*cken, lam and eggplant. So tasty and filling! Tacos are really generous too.

A Decent Dining Experience with a Variety of Options - Edit
Vandal in Newtown offers a trendy ambiance with a modern, industrial vibe that appeals to a young crowd. While the menu boasts creative dishes and fusion flavors, the execution can be hit-or-miss. Some dishes stand out for their bold flavors, while others feel underwhelming or overpriced. It’s a decent spot for casual drinks and small bites, but there’s room for improvement to match its chic atmosphere.

Delicious set menu - Edit
We had booked for an 8pm dinner. It was very busy which I didn’t expect. It was quite noisy but our waiter explained the menu and we decided it was easier to go with the set menu for $38. The guacamole was nice and I liked the tomato. It was so fresh. The second course was ceviche tostadas with “tuna”. I wasn’t sure if I would like it but it was very nice. The next course was chargrilled corn. This was my favourite. There was a vegan white cheese on top of it and the corn was cooked perfectly, so juicy. After that we had a zucchini flower that was stuffed with “ricotta” which was delicious. Next on the course (yes there really were more courses!) was the wild mushroom quesadilla. They were generously stuffed with mushrooms and I loved the rocket with it. It added flavour and texture. For the final course was a taco and you could choose which one you wanted. I had the roasted celeriac katsu taco. I’ve never had anything like this before. The mayo and slaw just worked perfectly. I had a mocktail which I enjoyed and then we ordered a dessert of churros. 4 churros and coconut and caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. At first I thought they’d bought out 2 desserts. But it was just one dessert and very tasty and a huge serving!
Read moreThe set menu was $38. It seems too good to be true! Very reasonably priced, flavourful food and nice staff.
It is noisy though so if you are sensitive to noise, it’s not the venue for you.

Good food but mocktails missed the mark - Edit
Star of the meal was the grilled corn, hands down. It was a flavour bomb.
Read moreTuna ceviche tasted like the real deal. Nachos knocked it out of the park.
Ask to add less chilli if you can't handle spice on the nachos.
We had the virgin margarita and the blood orange mocktail. They had too much ice and lacked in flavour.
