Decent vegan options

The menu has some clearly labelled vegan options, both for starters and as a main dish. Had the mushrooms and beans, which tasted okay. Pretty expensive, for not a large amount of food. But very friendly and helpful staff, and they offered a sweet treat at the end and explained the ingredients, fully vegan! So overall not great, but a decent option for a vegan meal in town.

Authentic Greek Experience 🫑🍅

I was so happy to find this place — it felt like a truly authentic Greek restaurant. The stuffed pepper and tomato were absolutely delicious, and the bean dish was also amazing. The fries tasted so homemade and comforting. The whole experience felt warm and genuine, and there were even cute cats wandering around, which added to the charm. Highly recommend!

Not so good

The walnut balls are amazing and thats about it for this restaurant.

We tried to be friendly and speak a few words Greek but the server was not communicative and used one word sentences. Both servers were not so fluent in other languages which made everything more confusing.

We ordered beer, and got a lemonade glass for the beer. Besides the walnut balls we had sauteed mushrooms (which were undercooked in my opinion) and dolma's which were nice, but the plate had some tomato sauce from another dish on it. Other cutterly wasnt really clean either. And the dishes are indeed not enough as a fulfilling dinner.

Best part of the night: all of a sudden we got the check. We didnt ask for it and were actually waiting to order a Greek coffee as dessert..

Weird place, food isnt bad but service was.

Cons: Not friendly service, Plates not clean, Small portions

Great Food, Not so Great Value-For-Money Ratio

We went to this restaurant after visiting Meteora. Very happy to find a restaurant with clearly labeled vegan options. The waiter was very helpful as well and willing to answer our questions.

The food tasted great, however the portions were quite small compared to the price. In retrospect, I’m very surprised this place is labeled as cheap on HappyCow, I would rather put it in the other end of the scale. We both came hungry, paid a total of 30€ (with just water for drinking), and still left hungry, so we still went to Lidl afterwards.

It’s a nice place to try some authentic Greek vegan cuisine, but just expect it to be expensive if you wanna feel full afterwards.

Very good

I had a nice meal. The staff was also very nice to me. On the online menu there was an option to see all vegan dishes, on the normal menu it was also clear what was and wasnt vegan.

Great Greek food with a vegan twist

We were greeted by a friendly waiter who showed us to our seats. He was patient and was willing to explain the dishes to us. After ordering, we decided to go inside because it was getting colder and there was a lot of noise outside, and he was helping us moving our glasses.

The food was delicious, though the bread was nothing special.
The grilled vegetables were amazing and the stuffed vine leaves are greatly complemented by an eggplant dip.

The walnut balls with mushrooms were phenomenal!

The pie of the day was a spinach pie, but that felt like it was not as fresh as we had hoped.

After paying the bill, we got a sweet vegan treat as dessert.

Clearly labeled vegan food

Vegan choices are clearly labeled on the menu. I had the walnut balls which were yummy and the shepherd salad which was a bit salty. The service was a bit rushed and the food came really fast (a bit too fast for my taste). Overall an okay-ish option for vegans.

Satisfying lunch

This restaurant is by no means vegan oriented. However, they do offer some clearly labeled vegan items on the menu – something that cannot be expected necessarily in a small city/town like this — and the friendly staff is helpful and aware of what is vegan and not. The vegan items are typical Greek vegan restaurant items. We had the broad beans and a vegetable dish, and they offered us a complimentary dessert. Our meal was filling and reasonable priced; we came away satisfied.

Extremely tasty, authentic Greek food, plenty of vegan options

We had dinner at Valia Calda and the food was very tasty! Authentic Greek taverna with plenty of vegan options that are labelled as vegan on the menu. There aren’t any restaurants up at Meteora so we basically ordered pretty much every vegan dish on the menu and took the leftovers up to the monasteries the next morning. The staff were sooo friendly and had take away containers, cutlery etc. They also offered advice on hiking trails and where to go. The salad was awesome and very fresh, all dishes came with a side of salad also. The grilled mushrooms and giant beans were my favourite but everything was very yummy.

Best pick in Kalambaka

Nice restaurant in the City center with outdoor seating. The place proposes traditional Greek dishes, with probably more veg*n options than most restaurants. Vegan dishes are labeled as such (though more dishes on the menu seem vegan regarding the ingredient list : it probably needs confirmation from the waiter ). The food and wine are both good.

Edit 04-03-2023: I came back to Kalampaka and Valia Calda, it is still as good as in my memories. Food is great, service attentive and wine good. Price is low, as often in Greece.

Plenty of vegan options

Good selection of vegan dishes from the regional cuisine. The portions are large and I would recommend sharing otherwise you'll have much of one thing. Wine is also local and tastes good.

Pros: Four vegan main dishes, Friendly staff, Regional cuisine

Cons: Much of one thing in the dishes

Good

Valia Calda has several well-labeled vegan options of varying quality and excellent customer service.

I ordered the walnut balls and the giant beans. The walnut balls came dipped in a porcini sauce and had a delightfully unique flavor (they are rather soft inside). The giant beans are served in a tomato-based sauce, one I was not very fond of. The upside: it’s enough for 2-4 people!

The meal ended with a complimentary vegan dessert (after the server realized I couldn’t eat yoghurt and honey): sour cherries in syrup. The syrup was a mix of sickly sweet and a bite of sour which became increasingly satisfying after a few bites.

Good food

Very kind staff and good food. Not a huge amount of options but what they have is better than fair and we got a free piece of cake to end.
These are the times happycow makes me very happy. A quick look on this app, you order only vegan food, and the non vegan friends that live in Greece say its one of the better restaurants they visited in a while.

Pros: Not expensive, Kind staff

Delicious food and cosy atmosphere

Absolutely loved this place and already thinking when to go back to try some other things on the menu. We took walnut balls (this was our favourite), beans gigantes and stuffed vine leaves. The food was very delicious, decorations inside the restaurant were lovely and our waiter was very friendly. They have several vegan options which are very clearly indicated.

Many tasty vegan options

High quality, delicious dishes, several vegan options (eggplant salad, walnut balls, and vegan pie of the day), but unreasonably high prices (we were charged 4.20 euros for two bottles of water)

Pros: Vegan items clearly labelled, Delicious dishes, Experienced staff

Cons: High - touristy prices
