The food is 4-stars but ambience is sorely lacking. Inside is very plain, which I didn’t mind, but they make you eat off a styrofoam plate with a spork. Please consider switching to reusable metal utensils!! If you’re vegan for the environment, this is a step in the wrong direction.
VEC offers the only all vegetarian restaurant in Vallejo, CA. It offers a small store front with several tables and also does a lot of take-out business. The space is undecorated and uninteresting and you have to walk through the kitchen to use their restrooms. The restroom is not especially clean and you have to wash your hands at the large sink outside of the bathroom. That being said...the food is excellent. Though they are an ovo-lacto restaurant, they have 3 or 4 vegan options. They also have 1 or 2 desserts that are vegan-friendly. You order and pay at the register and they serve you at your table. There is not really any other service provided after the food is served. But if you order off of their lunch menu, you can eat for about $5. The food is served on paper plates so is not especially eco-friendly but if you are a vegan in Vallejo this may one of your only options!
This is the only vegetarian joint anywhere near Napa. For this, alone, they deserve 4 stars. This place is bare bones, no frills, Indian street food. They have a very simple menu with many vegan options (not indicated). The woman that took my order, circled all of the vegan menu items for me. Some of the sweets were vegan, also.
The food that I had was fresh and flavorful. I started with a samosa chat and then had chana saag and roti. Service was quick, the food was fresh, hot and flavorful.
Tried it. Food was just okay, nothing special.
Though, the samosas are best.
The sweets are not very good. They tasted stale and unfresh.
The inside looks a bit depressing, like an empty building with nothing but a few tables and chairs with the counter and sweets display.
tad bit pricey, I bought two specials and a couple pieces of their sweets(75cents each) should be 25cents, ran me about 22 bucks including tip.
