My boyfriend and I are both vegan. We've been excited about Vaca’s for a long time. We finally got there tonight. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. The ice cream consistency is pasty and heavy. I got vanilla ice cream with chocolate cake pieces. It was inedible. The cake pieces were dry and tasted like stale play-doh. I legit wasted $10 on it. I didn’t finish a single bite.

Service was very friendly. That was a pro. You can’t go inside — It is still walk-up only to an outdoor window, so be prepared to wait outside for your ice cream. We went in February, and there was still a decent line of people, waiting outside for their ice cream, in 20 degree weather. Only in Chicago 😉.

During this winter, which was our first, we had some issues with the machines where if they weren't frequently used the ice cream consistency wasn't the best. We tried our best to remedy this, but it's possible that a few times we slipped. This is definitely not how our product is supposed to be, I assure you. This is my favorite soft serve ever! The oatmilk really sets this place apart from the rest, along with whatever else they’re adding to the mixture. I usually get a DIY cup or handshake. I tried a regular shake, but will stick to the others. It’s so addictive! I’m happy I don’t live close bc it could be dangerous for my waistline.

Vegan soft serve at Vaca’s is what I needed on that cold January chicago day. Tahini soft serve with chocolate coating and sprinkles took me back to my childhood days of eating ice cream. I’ve wanted vegan soft serve for decades. Vaca’s soft serve is creamy and delicious, even in the middle of winter. You HAVE to get the vanilla handshake (like a concrete mixer) with the peanut butter chocolate shell. I have dreams about this place. It is expensive but it includes tip.

Ordered ice cream for two. Comes with toppings. As our ice cream was being handed to us, the employee said he forgot one of our toppings but did not offer to put it on, take it back, redo it, or refund us a small amount for making the mistake. Instead, he said he forgot the topping, closed the window, and ignored us. We were left stunned. I finished mine but my mom wasn't happy because it was not what she ordered and after a few bites, she left it there.

I LOVE soft serve & this was the best vegan soft serve I’ve ever had. We showed up on a rainy day and it was well worth it. The handmade toppings and awesome service really made the whole experience. Awesome spot, love to see them thriving!

Good vegan soft serve is hard to come by and Vaca REALLY delivers. Honestly, it was perfect. I got the s’mores sundae and my husband got a shake with cookie pieces mixed in. Both were delicious! This is a must visit spot in the city.

So glad we found this place. After vegan sushi at Seadog Sushi Bar, realized Vaca’s was around the corner. Regular sized cups were a pretty large serving, but I went for the chocolate cake milkshake and wasn’t disappointed!

Every city big or small should have a spot like this. I love that they have products that suit various allergies so even if you're allergic to one thing you have options there and the staff is actually knowledgeable about them. I don't have a single thing to say that I don't like about the place. The vanilla does taste oat based (I'm all soy for vanilla but oat is way more allergy friendly and a good choice) but the chocolate can't be beat and the various toppings and incredibly rare to see as vegan ice cream shop staples like shells, fudge, and marshmallows make this place an absolute must try for any vegan coming through Chicago. Thank you vaca's for existing and setting the perfect example for how to do this right.

So amazingly delicious. Everything is vegan, and gluten free unless otherwise marked. The only con is that it's pretty expensive. The waffle cone is homemade, gf, (and vegan of course), and is crazy good. So many topping options and all of them are scrumptious. A must try for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike!

This ice cream was the best I have had in years. The waffle cone was so cinnamon-y. It was rich and decadent. I usually am not an ice cream person, but I am now. We went right before closure and there was still a line for a long time. Worth it though. So so good.
