great sandwich

tried the vegan sandwich and it was completely amazing, and the salad too. also tried the pumpkin pie and i wasn't a big fan but maybe people who really likes the sweet might take it.

Good ambiance

They have a lot of options in general, so at first it may not seem like they have a lot of vegan options. However, they're littered all throughout the menu with very poor labeling. A lot of things will say "can be made plant based", where they use vegan alternatives ie vegan egg whites. Others will just have "vegan" in the name. We had the vegan panini portobella, which was pretty good. The Spanish latte with oat milk was really good too; I'm personally not vegan (my partner is) and its probably one of the best espresso drinks ive had. There is shady outdoor seating, and feels bourgeois (as typical of beverly hills).

Excellent Flavor

Ordered: Vegan Pumpkin Pie, Vegan Patty Melt Panini, Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice and a Double Espresso.

The place was pretty crowded with both indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was friendly and everyone worked together well with it being so busy. The patty melt was what I ate first and the flavors and textures came together beautifully, before I had taken my first bite I remembered that I forgot to ask for extra cheese, but it wasn’t necessary as they put enough on it. There are a couple slices of jalapeño on top of each half which added a nice jump to a few of the bites. There was a healthy portion of spinach that was tossed well with a dressing and the amounts of spinach made each forkful very satisfying. The pumpkin pie was one of the best pumpkin pies I have had in terms of flavor, there were a few different subtleties with the cinnamon or nutmeg, the pumpkin, the sweetness and the powdered sugar, but the texture didn’t meet my expectations, I would have liked the crust to be “crustier” and the filling to be a bit more firm, however the excellent flavor made up for it. Juice was fresh squeezed by machine and was sweet and tangy, the espresso was nice and dark (I mixed my espresso in with some of my orange juice in a separate cup, it was delicious). I may be back for another patty melt in the next few days.

Pros: Excellent Flavors, Variety of seating, Friendly staff

Cons: A bit busy

Vegan options are lame.

Urth Caffe’s vegan options are bland and uninspired. It almost seems like they were put on the menu in the 90s, when most restaurants had no idea how to make vegan food, and then just never improved. Take your money and your appetite elsewhere.

Trendy and decent

This is a trendy place that has several locations in Los Angeles. They have vegan options, but could use some more. Decently tasty.

Yummy Soy Cappucino

I had read about this place on happycow, and here's my Urth Caffe review.

Came here for lunch on a day when it was packed from wall to wall. The restaurant is built like a house, complete with a porch, short set of stairs up to the front door, and patio to one side with outdoor seating.

Seemed like a very popular place with the locals. The menu is very vegetarian friendly but vegan options are limited, though you could ask for alterations.

The soups menu indicated which ones were vegan by "V," and today, there were 4 vegan soups and only 1 non-vegan.

The main reason I came here was to get their soy cappucino. Urth Caffe makes one of the best tasting soy caps I've had. Their fresh baked goods case is quite enticing, though nothing is vegan except for a vegan cookie.

The service is quick and the staff friendly.

More options if you're vegetarian...

Urth is a pretty neat café, however, I really wish they had more vegan options. That said, I feel this place is better suited for vegetarians.

I was in health mode so I went with their mixed greens salad - it was good. My bf got a tiramisu cake and really enjoyed it. I went without dessert as I remember disliking the vegan chocolate chip cookies in the past. If I had to go back again, I'd probably order a (decaf) coffee and salad.

I'm all Urthed out...

I hate to write a bad review for any place that tries pretty hard, but Urth Cafe's vegan options continue to disappoint. My recent trip to this location marks the last time I'll probably ever eat the place. The amount of sugar and caffeine in the drinks is just out of control. I got about 1/4 the way into a Thai Iced Teaser and threw it in the trash exclaiming "why am I doing this to myself". Their "worlds best vegan cookies" are perhaps the worst vegan cookies in the world, dry and nasty. They really make anyone who tries them think all vegan stuff is horrible. They've recently added some more vegan desserts, but I shudder to try them. As for regular vegan food, the last time I tried to eat there they told me their soy cheese was vegan and after a bite I realized it wasn't. Its a hip spot, a place to be seen, but aside from that they need a severe lesson in veganism. Shouldn't be listed on happycow

Pros: trendy

Cons: bad vegan food, worst cookies, too much sugar
