All the food is vegan with the option of making it vegetarian by adding cheese (the only animal product that they use). Is famous for their hamburgers and tacos, which are always on the menu. Has muffins and chilaquiles with soy sausage for breakfast. Offers a new specialty every day, including falafel, pozole, pambazos, milanesa cakes, enmoladas, entomatado de soya, special tacos, vegetarian lasagna and others. Beer is served until 5:00 pm and two different drinks to choose from served in a jar. All food is made fresh daily. Atmosphere is that of conviviality and varied music. Is eco-friendly and uses only recyclable paper, cardboard and aluminum. Has a board with a list of dog adoptions from the shelter Adopt a Friend Forever. Reported closed Jan 2020.

Delicious food, casual place, nice people - Edit
I had the daily special, which was vegan pozole — hard to find! The other daily specials also sound delicious. Very nice people who speak a little English (Spanish too of course). Casual seating at a long table in a small area. Recommended!

Best of the best - Edit
I spent about a week as a tourist eating nearly exclusively at veg restaurants. CDMX is full of great vegan food, but Urban Veggie is the best.
Read moreI've been twice with my partner and tasted three kinds of tacos, the pozole (daily special) and the lentil hamburger. Everything was delicious, but the al pastor tacos were my favorite. As of summer '18, they're $15 (~$0.75USD) a taco. It'd take at least 4 to fill me up.
Urban Veggie is a hole-in-the-wall run by two brothers. When they're out of an ingredient, they're out, so it's pretty common to have a couple items on the menu not be available that day. That seems to be standard practice in veg restaurants in CDMX, though. It's got an open kitchen, which is always a good sign. The decor is old-timey lights, black and green paint, and lots of wood, which I like.

Sweet and Spicy Mexican Vegan food - Edit
I think the dish I had was called enmoladas. There are taco skin wrapped in something that tasted like sweet potato. The brown sauce is slightly sweet, and a little spicy. Not sure if it is some form of peanut sauce, but it is good.
Read moreThe chef makes your order on the spot and you can watch him make the food. I didn't want any cheese so the chef added several slices of avocadoes instead, so this was completely vegan.
The guy before me paid with credit card even though the place is cash only. The price is very cheap overall. So do tip them if you enjoyed the food.
Would recommend.
Pros: Can request for vegan option, Friendly staff, English menu available
Cons: Small space
