Delicious!

Stopped in after pride and couldn’t have been happier in our choice. We had the buffalo wings, chicken and waffles and the shrimp po’boy. Everything was phenomenal! We can’t wait to go back!

Best Vegan Food in NYC

I LOVE the vegan food in NYC. I had a BLT here that was so phenomenal I couldn’t stop eating it long enough to get a photo. Dessert was also great. It appears to be staffed by the owner, so service isn’t always super fast, but the food is incredible.

Pros: Variety, Lots of seating, Public restrooms

Tasted Good

This place had great atmosphere. It was fancy but not too fancy. I had the Chick'un Avocado Ranch Salad. I subbed out the fried seitan for the buffalo seitan for $2 (total price- $21). The prices were steeper than I expected for the portions but I might just be asking too much. My partner got the Country Fried Seitan ($22). It was also smaller than expected. The flavors weren't great enough for the value. But we were in a more expensive part of town I think. I took a star away because my meal was severely missing flavor and because of small portions. It wasn't until I left that I realized I never got any avocado. Still this was my first and I would definitely go back and try more things. The prices weren't that surprising compared to other places.

Pros: nice place, lots of seating, good entree options

Cons: expensive, don't go if really hungry

Great food

So far, this is my favorite of the Blossom-group restaurants. The food (and I’m all about the food) is inventive with a healthy twist (not too oily or salty). The dining experience is super casual, which can be nice, but has its limits. For example: my sparkling wine was served in a water glass, apparently because they do not possess the appropriate barware. There was a DJ (I’m guessing that is the term for the person standing in front of 2 laptops and wearing headphones) so the noice level did not allow for comfortable conversation. That said, if you want great vegan food in a lively spot - this is a great choice. Staff were attentive and friendly.

Pros: 100% vegan , Great tasting food, Friendly staff

Cons: Loud music

GREAT FOOD. Service Downstairs is bad.

I’ve been going to UVK since they first opened and it’s been one of my go-to brunch/ dinner spots for both vegan and non-vegan friends. The food is AMAZING- chicken and waffles is my fave dish but everything I’ve had is pretty tasty. That being said, the last two times I’ve been, my friends and I sat downstairs and the service was AWFUL. I hate writing bad reviews especially for vegan spots but this is worth noting. The first time we had bad service my friend and I actually ended up leaving after waiting 20 minutes and getting one water pour then finally asking for a server to come over to take our order and then waiting another 15 minutes and no one came. We did say something but the servers reaction was sub-par. The last time we stayed and sucked it up because I wanted my friends to try the food so bad but again this should be addressed by management. Hoping it improves ;)

Pros: delicious food

Cons: expensive , awful service in downstairs room

Great diner food! Great service!

Love the ambiance in this place. We had the BLT and the faux chicken and waffles. Both were delicious. The waittress was fantastic -- getting us served quickly because she knew we were in a bit of a hurry. Would definitely go back again.

Made-over Beautiful place into grunge pricey vegan?

Sad because the location has some amazing food like “faux egg” hollandaise but the owner in my opinion has no idea how to provide a menu to draw vegan People and vegan friendly in. The menu is to limited and I don’t like the “grunge makeover. I can’t recommend this place despite the awesome intentions. Hurts to give vegan place thumbs down but it hurts to spend so much $ including 20 percent tip because staff deserves good tip even if menu very limited and some how off.

This make over thumbs down accept for large animal photos. I suggest make some lower price point choices, work on menu options — and go back to original decor.

13 dollar sundae thumbs down. Coconut whip cream — leave out “whip cream” dessert ? You could not pay me $13 to eat it. I wish I could get $65 “lunch” back

Staff nice food is good but... this place pre make-over delicious.

Pros: nice staff, location , bathrooms

Delicious Food and Refreshingly Great Service

I ordered the chicken and waffles after my server had recommended it to me and it was absolutely delicious and quite filling. The “chicken” was perfectly crispy, which I believe is hard to find for vegan chicken. Likewise, my server was fantastic and wonderfully attentive and kind. The atmosphere is really cool as well, for the restaurant has a hip urban feel and has two floors. Clean as well. My one and only complaint is the price. For chicken and waffles it cost $22, which prevented me from trying other menu items. This may be the one thing that limits my visits here. Regardless, I strongly recommend to dine here!

Liked it better when it was Blossom

We ordered the Brussels and elote for apps. I really liked the elote but it needed fresh lime and more salt, mayo, spice, and mayo and cheese on it. It was almost there, just not quite. The Brussels were a waste, not very crispy and nothing flavorful about them at all. For dinner we had the tacos which were good but definitely needed a salsa or sauce, ended up asking for hot sauce. The other entree was the seitan and gravy. That was good but it kind of tasted like a Salisbury steak frozen dinner... in a good way. The potatoes were bland and nothing remarkable about them. Over all the meal was good I left happy but there were things just missed. If they went a little further with some aspects of the dish it would have been perfect. Also all the plates were mismatched and seemed cheap. Plating made it seem like a cheaper restaurant, along with the ambience. Tons of framed pictures of rappers, r&b, reggae music artists. Weird selection of music loudly played. The ambience and playing and service did not reflect the price of the bill, it seemed high. The server was nice but was not attentive and sat there for a while before we even got a drink order in. I liked it better when it was Blossom, that being said if they lowered their pricing and changed their plates and had better service and tightened up on their dishes I would come back because the meal was still good.

Pros: Food was tasty, almost there

Cons: Unattentive service, Cheap plates/poor plating of food, Dishes just weren’t quite there

horrible service

Ate there at about 3pm on a weekday. The place was empty, with my party of 2 and one other single diner the only patrons. There were three staff members on the floor. (Server?busser?host? I never figured out who did what job.). But they were all so busy chatting behind the bar the entire time that we had to wave frantically every time we wanted something. Even then they weren’t in any hurry to come over to see what we needed.

I totally forgive wait staff when they are too busy to give good service. But it sucks when the service is bad because the restaurant is really slow and the wait staff is just goofing off.

The Blossom on the upper west side has better, though not great, service.

Too bad because I like the food.

Hit & Miss

Nice mood. On the pricey side. Pizza good. Chickpeas good. The rest is average to good but does not justify the price.
Second time I go there.

Great date night meal!

I enjoyed the Chick-UN and waffles, but I think my husband's Seitan and gravy was much better. I guess I prefer savory over sweet. Another reason to come back again.

Great service and tasty food

Wandered in for a late lunch, so they were pretty quiet.
Ordered a Po Boy and a Bloody Mary, both of which arrived pretty quick and tasted great.
I must confess it was my first po boy ever, but I was impressed.

It's ok

The waitstaff were fantastic. Everything else was simply ok. Luke warm brussel sprouts and a UVK burger with soggy fries. Maybe i ordered the wrong dishes? also, the music is really loud. loud enough that i kept my ear buds in to block out some of the noise.

Pros: waitstaff

Cons: high cost for mediocre food , loud music

Sometimes amazing, other times not

I have been 4 times in the past 3 months. The first 3 times were spectacular, each time we went for dinner. The latest time I was so excited to take a friend for lunch, and the food was really quite awful. I honestly don't remember what we had at this point, but it was a great disappointment. The service was good, staff has always been friendly and enthusiastic about e food. I will try again, maybe it was an off day. I had also hoped to get their cauliflower pizza, which was great, but they didn't have it the day we went for lunch. I have a feeling they do certain things well, but not everything, and you have to choose carefully.

Wow - amazing vegan soul food

The ambience is modern and cosy. The staff were very helpful, relaxed and friendly. So nice not having to worry about if it is vegan or vegetarian (the whole menu is vegan) We ordered Mexican corn, brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese with shitake bacon for starters.
Vegan remoulade and Parmesan on the Mexican corn was much tastier than the dairy versions. The mac and cheese was top notch, and shitake bacon awesome compliment. The brussel sprouts were perfection and complimented the Mac and cheese well. For entre we had Seitan with gravy and mashed potatoes, unchiken waffles, and Mexican lasagne. All were delicious, but if I pick favorites it is the unchiken waffles. Desert was dreamy pecan pie with whipped cream and salted caramel ice cream.

Really awesome restaurant, must check it out if you are a vegan foodie.

Pros: 100% vegan menu, Delicious!

Cons: Maybe too small for large parties without reservat

late night gem

Brilliant, creative meals. I had the "chick'un and waffles" and my partner had the special- seared seitan, red wine gravy, green beans with almonds, potato mash. The waffles were perfect! Thick, lightly sweet, crispy outside and soft inside doughy deliciousness. They came with lovely sautéed kale, individual pieces of breaded seitan and a mayo style sauce. The service was incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere felt very special. Best of all, they serve food until 11.30pm! A perfect treat between theatre and dancing.

Pros: serve food til late, creative, fancy
