Wish it was better

I love the idea of a place like this in the suburbs with vegan and gluten free options. I just wish it all tasted better. I've tried a variety of the bakery items and ate inside once for breakfast. I'd rather just make the trip to the city for a good vegan breakfast. I don't think I'd go back again unless I was close by.

Pros: Multiple vegan + GF options

Cons: Food is nothing special

Good but overpriced

It's awesome to have a vegan and GF restaurant! But they are super expensive i spent $70 on a Valentine's meal. 3 course meal that felt like you were eating a TV dinner. Everything was stale. I've ate here a handful of times mostly the baked goods. Each time worst then time before. I'm so sad I tried so hard to like it and kept coming back. Over priced and stale is what I'd say describes this restaurant.

Bakery w/Savory Menu

UpRising is small business with so many offerings. You can dine in for any meal or grab something from their case to go. I was nervous because previous reviews made it sound like it leaned vegetarian but everything on the menu and in the case was vegan. Our server said the only time something wouldn't be vegan is when they order speciality GF breads out-of-house to carry.

Pros: Variety of options for any time of day, To-go case with full cakes and pies, LGBTQIA+ Friendly

My go to spot for vegan food and sweets.

The menu is awesome! So many vegan baked goods and the cafe menu has tons of vegan options too. Many GF options as well. The friendliest staff and owner you'll find. Go here!

Pros: Lots of Vegan options , Lots of Gluten Free options, Savory Menu and Bakery Sweets

Cons: Delicious

Yummy sweets, staff need training

Apple cider donuts, cupcakes and mini Bundt cakes were all great. The "butter"cream frosting was INCREDIBLE and not too sweet. The cakes were a little hard on the outside so we thought they'd be dry, but they were soft on the inside. The scones were a little dry for our taste. We drove a little under an hour to support this business because they support the community (and are mostly vegan!). It was busy by the entrance, but it was hard to tell if people were in line for the register, checking out the case of baked goods or waiting to be seated. We asked if we could sit at the tables if we just wanted coffee and pastries. She said yes but we should order at the counter. Nothing in the case was labeled with what it was, the price or if it was vegan/gluten free. It would be a lot nicer for customers and staff if each were labeled. We had to ask about each item, and if we forgot (there was a lot), we had to ask again. We told them we were dining in, but we got everything in to go containers. Really would have preferred mugs for our coffee and plates/forks for our cake. We went back to the counter multiple times to ask them to wipe down the table, for napkins, a plate, a knife. They were friendly every time but it would have been a more relaxed, pleasant experience if they anticipated these basic things.

Pros: From scratch, Made with love, Supports the community

Cons: Items not labeled in case, Staff not welcoming, didn't check on tables, Tables not clean.

Excellent cafe & bakery

Everything appears to be vegan, gf options, and their desserts are amazing. Love the brownies, husband says the biscuits and gravy are the best vegan version he has ever had.

Good food and good vibes

Not only do I love the food, but I love the atmosphere of this cafe. Each time I’ve stopped in, the staff has been very friendly and answered any questions I have. They have a large menu of not only bakery items but food as well, of which everything I’ve tried has been great. The menu is basically 99% vegan minus a handful of keto bakery items (though it would be nice if they would make those vegan as well… I’d certainly be interested!) The coffee is decent. I love the cozy atmosphere and I love that they have taken what was an unfortunate experience (they were sadly vandalized) and used it to build themselves up stronger and better. They host cool events as well. They do seem a bit disorganized at times, randomly closing early and their online menus are often inaccurate. But regardless, I highly recommend giving this place a visit.

Pros: Large menu, Cozy atmosphere, Friendly staff

Cons: Expensive

I would give 1 star if allowed

I tried to like this place, I really did. The first time I went I tried a budda bowl. The serving size was so small and, honestly, I could have thrown 5 ingredients into a bowl and saved myself $20. Ok, pass on the bowl next time. On the next visit I tried the meatball sub. The bread was hard and dry, the "meatballs" were super oily and, again, not enough food for the amount I paid. Ok, so maybe their lane is more in the baked goods. My 3rd visit, and final, I picked up some sweet treats to bring to a family party and was so disappointed. Tasteless and dry! I could have made my own vegan desserts and saved $50.

Save your money and skip this overpriced, underwhelming vegan shop.

Our Wedding Cake Was Fabulous!

A vegan and gluten free cake that looked good and, more importantly tasted even better. So many compliments on the cake. We have also eaten here for breakfast and lunch. The food was fresh, tasty and the staff wonderful and friendly! This has fast become one of our favorites in the area! The chef/owner is amazing!

Bad Scones, Worse Vibes

Decided to stop in and was pretty weirded out. Was told a whole case was vegan, but after purchasing a loaf of white bread from said case, we double checked the ingredients and found that it contained milk. We showed the worker and they took it to their boss. The boss then asked if we wanted a refund - which we of course replied 'yes'. He then started swearing under his breath to the cash register as he fixed our amount. We asked if the scones we bought were vegan and they assured us they were, however I was now very skeptical.

We went to my car and took out the scones that we bought. Two day old (half price) vegan bacon and cheddar, and one chocolate cherry.

We tried the bacon cheddar one first, I only had a bite and my husband ate the rest. We are now sick to our stomachs. It had a glazed icing which did not fit the savory genre of that scone. I can't tell if we're sick from the bad flavor, or if it possible wasn't vegan. Hopefully the former.

As for the chocolate cherry, the chocolate is very artificial-like. It's much better than the other scones (as in, it's edible), but the chocolate should be reevaluated.

We are throwing the remaining cheddar bacon scone in the garbage, unfortunately. We don't have anyone we dislike enough to give it to.

Hope they improve. There were no customers dining in or in the entire establishment for the moment we were there. Also, they don't wear masks.

Pros: vegan options (?)

Cons: sketchy (no customers, no masks, not vegan), not good food, too expensive ($4.50 for - scone, $7 for a loaf)

Excellent baked goods!

The vegan, gluten-free key lime cheesecake is incredible. The zucchini appetizer was also amazing. The banh mi bowl felt overpriced for the size and the tofu was dried out, but overall it was still good. They seemed a bit understaffed, but I’d still go back and had a good experience overall.

Worlds best pastries and service

We went for breakfast today and it was amazing! We had the vegan pot pie (also had regular version and GF), a vegan brownie, the taco salad and a vegan cinnamon roll which is a MUST! Could not not recommend more!

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Lots of gluten free options , Amazing service

Cons: Too many amazing choices
