Vegetarian restaurant specializing in global cuisines with flavors from Africa, The Middle East, the Caribbeans, and Asia. A daily lunch buffet (11:30am-2:30pm) features a bountiful spread of vegan and vegetarian dishes. A snacks menu offers tasty bites like akara (Nigerian black-eyed pea fritters) and sanbusa (Iraqi-style baked turnovers). Dinner (5-8pm) is ensemble meal style with your choice of main dish accompanied by a starter and a salad. BYO. Re-opened here in 2017, previously on Roseville Rd. Open Mon-Sat 11:30am-2:30pm, 5:00pm-8:00pm.

Flavor Could be Stronger - Edit

I sample Upohar food at the first Lancaster VegFest. I had an Iraqui Sanbusa. The texture and filling were nice, but the flavor was a bit underwhelming—good, just not as powerful as I had hoped. I'd be interested to try more of their food, but I wasn't in love with the sanbusa.

Pros: Good price

Good variety of ethnic dishes - Edit

I had three plates at the buffet until I could eat no more. Loved all of it, and I sampled all of it. There were two rices, one cold bean salad, and eight entree selections at the buffet. Each item is labeled as vegetarian or vegan with the name of the dish and the country of origin. An Iraqi mint lemonade was not as pungent as regular lemonade.

Pros: Excellent value, Good variety of food

DannyRebel 09 Jun 2017 - I had an entree at the 2017 Lancaster Veg Fest in June. The yellow rice lacked flavor but given the overwhelming attendance and long lines, I figure all of the vendors were rushed and worked heavily. All food vendors ran out of food before the end of the festival.

DannyRebel 23 Dec 2017 - My local vegan MeetUp group visited here since they've reopened at a new location with 20 members to try the excellent buffet and stayed three hours. All 10 items on the buffet table were both vegan and gluten-free. We've decided to make this a monthly meetup.

Tasty food and love the social mission. (Employing people form Lancaster's significant refugee population.)

Every time I eat here I feel like I've had a hearty home cooked meal made with love. The buffet is delicious and affordable. My only complaint is that their hours are pretty limited.

Great food and a great cause - Edit

Upohar has been in the community for years and I always look forward to running into them whether they're out at a food truck type event, or stopping in for the lunch buffet. If you want a variety of vegetarian and vegan food you've never tried before, you should definitely stop in and check them out.

Five+ stars! - Edit

I have traveled to several countries and tried many types of food, but I've never had a unique flavor like this one. I thought there was only a limited number of ways lentils and vegetables could taste, but Upohar proved me wrong. Thank you!!!

Perfect lunch - Edit

It's a vegetarian restaurant serving (cheap) dishes from all over the world thanks to resettled refugee chefs. This concept alone made me want to go, and I was floored by the food when I went yesterday: Congolese peanut stew, Nigerian fired rice with coconut milk, yams with tomato stew, masoor dhal and Iraqi lemonade with mint and orange blossoms. The only non-vegan items there were samoosas and chai. Go!
