Delicious, healthy, perfectly cooked and served - Edit
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED It's Australia Day and a great day for lunch out and a walk along the beach at Black Rock. There is a wonderful hub of gourmet eateries at the end of Bluff Rd where it meets the beach. After googling 'Best cafes in Black Rock', and discarding a few options, I came across 'United Espresso and Kitchen'. The online menu showed all the favourites, but with imaginative twists, interesting combos and exotic spices.
And our lunch did not disappoint. I ordered Grilled Greens and my husband ordered Avocado Mushroom. Both were served with fabulous toasted sourdough pumpkin bread and a poached egg, and were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.
Our waiter, Zac, should be grabbed and videoed by a Hospitality training academy as the personification of the perfect waiter. He wrote down our orders (do waiters ever get it all right when they say, I'll remember your order?), repeated them back to us and no request was too much trouble. We'd bought some fresh cherries for dessert from the greengrocer down the road. I had the cheek to ask Zac to wash them for me. He kindly agreed and brought them back washed and in a bowl!
Our meals were both perfectly cooked and arrived exactly as ordered - eggs poached firm, toast on the side with butter and hubbie's coffee extra, extra hot.
My greens comprised asparagus, broccoli, edamame, peas and kale - a delicious combination that included cheese, nuts and interesting spices - scrumptious!
The friendly owners are delightful and have really got this right. It was a perfect meal with perfect service.
