Great atmosphere and delicious food! - Edit
I loved that this is an all-vegan restaurant. I didn't have to worry about picking out ingredients or in what combination could I order myself a vegan meal. The staff was friendly and personable. The inside atmosphere is well-designed. Oh, and the food is delicious! You won't regret trying it. I had the Big Cheeze, loaded Philly fries and the Skrimp Po'boy - all very tasty!

We were coming from Montgomery and trying to find an awesome vegan place to try. Underground Vegan was definitely worth the trip. The Skrimp Po Boy was excellent and tasted like real shrimp! And the burgers there were also excellent. We will definitely be back soon!

Amazing vegan offerings, their classic sandwich is great place to start. I tried sides of their vegan shrimp and vegan wings and both were incredible. sweet staff, definitely feeling the effect of staff shortages, but if you have the patience it’s worth every second.

The food here is so good! One of the best vegan places I've ever had. The staff was super friendly and the service was great. The Philly cheese fries were phenomenal. I'm sad that they don't have a location near my home.

The Rodeo burger, classic cheeseburger, and Philly cheese fries are fantastic. It may be one of the only fully vegan options in Birmingham, but it's also one of the best vegan restaurants I've been to for this sort of food.

Our Favorite Restaurant in Birmingham, AL - Edit
We eat at Underground Vegan frequently. Began following them around the city in their food truck several years ago. This is the only 100% vegan restaurant in Birmingham. We have eaten in dozens of vegan and plant-based restaurants around the US. This place ranks near the top. Great service too!

I was disappointed in the food we received here. I appreciate that it was all vegan, but the food was too expensive for what we had. We ordered the burger, fries, and chocolate shake. The burger was extremely greasy and the chocolate shake was very chalky. The only decent thing were the fries, but the portion was small considering the price.
Read moreI do want to note that I only ate here once as I was passing through town. So even though I think my review is valid, I do not want it to deter others from TRYING this place. One bad experience should not define the whole thing. I simply want others to be aware of the situation and what they may also encounter.

My wife and I had a great meal here. The “chicken” was awesome. Their shrimp is the only vegan “fish” I’ve ever liked and it was really good. Had some good sides and washed em down with a couple shakes. The staff was polite and friendly. Will totally go back.

We had a cheeseburger, a chop Philly sandwich and fries. Burger was tastier in my opinion. Prices are pretty good too. They had a breading on them. But the Philly was a little greasy.

We went to Underground Vegan for the first time a few nights ago. It was EXCELLENT!! The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. The Skrimp Quesadilla, Chopped Philly Sammy, Caliente, Fries, and Chocolate Milkshake were all GREAT!! The portions are very good. Underground Vegan is a place we will definitely return to.

This is the vegan food I'm looking for when I go out to eat. It's delicious fried awesomeness that I don't cook at home. Everything we had was awesome, wings, club, bbq, and kids nuggets.

This is my favorite restaurant so far! The food is absolutely amazing and the fact that it's all cruelty-free is even better! I highly recommend the "Bad Birdy"...it's an out-of-this-world chick'n sandwich with a crispy hashbrown patty, slightly spicy chipotle sauce, a slice of cheese, plant-based "bacon", and vegan "egg". It's loaded with flavor! The fries are awesome too, being really crispy on the outside while super soft on the inside, with a whole bunch of flavor!

Actually, them not accepting cash can be considered a pro since it means that they're not handling cash before touching your food, so it's more sanitary. Especially when you consider the places that some people hide their cash😄
