Vegan options, nice Japanese restaurant

Really nice food. Easy to see what is vegan.

Cons: Menu is only online, a bit exclusionary for some.

Great vegan options

Lovely to try vegan options here! Set lunch menu only £19 which includes an appetiser, starter, main and a drink
We had edemmame, gyoza, inari pockets, and two mains

Pros: Great vegan options , Delicious Japanese food , Knowledge staff

Vegan katsu curry

If in a dream I had fallen into a vat of katsu curry I would wake to a happy day. I spent the second half of every visit here spinning my bowl around and around seeking out the best last smears of curry. This is a lovely place - they will accommodate vegans well and are a lovely couple with a friendly team of waiting staff. If you ever had that other dream that your pillow turned into a tofu pillow case filled with boiled rice well they have tofu inari too.

Nice place to eat

Quite a lot of vegan options, you must specify vegan though as some are made with egg/milk otherwise. Small and cosy

Pros: Some nice vegan options, Staff are knowledgeable

Cons: Needs a vegan dessert, Wish alcohol was labelled as vegan or not

Delicious and well presented

The food was amazing with such a depth of flavour. Cosy restaurant with limited seating, but you don’t feel cramped or rushed.

A few vegan options and a few of the vegetarian meals can be made vegan. The pumpkin curry in particular was perfect.

Pros: Outstanding food, Restaurant looks great and feels comfortable, Staff always ask if you want a meal vegan

Cons: Not a massive range of vegan options

Delicious!

Decent vegan options in a nice little restaurant! Fairly priced and relatively quick.

Pros: Vegan mochi icecream, Gyoza are very good - crispy, Tasty katsu sauce

Cons: More tofu in the katsu would be good

Best restaurant in boro

Umi is my favourite place to eat in boro. The vegan tofu katsu is an amazing dish.

Pros: Loads of vegan options., Veggie food can be made vegan (except egg sushi)

Cons: Limited seating (so best to book a table!)

A taste of Japan

We visited Umi for a light lunch and ordered the tofu katsu curry and veg gyozas. Service was quick and the two dishes were tasty. Personally, I would have liked the tofu to be firmer rather the silken tofu that was served and a bit more veg, but the sauce was very nice. The gyozas were spot on and I could have easily eaten a big plateful. In total we spent just under £10. Not sure if I would go back as the vegan options were a little limited.

Pros: Inexpensive , Tasty food

Amazing sushi however ....

Was able to get a vegan tofu curry upon request, and everything we ordered was so tasty. However, having gone back for a third time and physically sitting in, I found the environment very anxious and unnerving. My requested tofu vegan curry had bits in that didn’t belong in the curry, even though it seemed to only be a piece of batter or so I really wasn’t happy as having obviously had crosstamination with my food, god knows what else it could have been :-(.

Pros: Quite a few vegan options, Quick service to pick up

Cons: Cross-tamination , Not nice environment eating in
