Gimme the Dosai!

The food here was absolutely delicious, and there were plenty of vegan options to choose from. Most of the dosai are vegan, and there are lots of other options like Gobi Manchurian, different types of dal, and masalas. The environment of the restaurant is very friendly and family-oriented; when we went it was comfortably packed with couples, often with their parents and/or their kids.

Pros: Yummy food, Lots of options, Friendly atmosphere

Perfect Experience

The location is...rough. But dont judge a book by its cover! Delicious food with a large selection. We crave this place often. 5 stars

Pros: Friendly, Delicious

Something for everyone

Everything I've ordered here has been delicious, and I would bring vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores here without hesitation! I like to start off with Bhel Poori (you have to try it to really understand why it's so great, but it's assorted veggies/crisps topped with chutneys), and I also really like the Channa Batura (large, puffy, slightly crispy bread along with channa masala), Aloo Methi, and Dal Makhani. And you can't go wrong with Garlic Naan or Parathas of any flavor. If you've never had Indian food, give this place a try because you're really missing out on some fantastic flavors. Be sure to order some food to go for the next day.

Yummy Food

Broughtp 1st timers tonight who are not vegan. I had Mulligatawny soup which was flavorful, not super spicy. Complimented with Pappadum, Paratha went nicely with my Vegetable Korma. They were very accommodating to my friends' desire to have "super mild" dishes and they had the Baigan Bartha (almost pureed, which was different but very good) and her son had the Cheese Dosai which he loved. Normally, Dosais are large but this one was a specially large and flavorful for him. Prices are reasonable and I would recommend Udupi to anyone wishing to sample an extensive Indian menu. Great options for this vegan!

Pros: Six thumbs up from the 3 of us

Cozy corner

If you are veg*n and looking for some traditional South Indian food (especially breakfast), this is a decent place in the neighborhood you could hit. Our usuals are Idli-Vade and Mysore masala dose. I was really impressed with the sambar (condiment). What impressed me even more was that they are pretty Eco-friendly when it comes to the service. Thumbs up for me.

Pros: Traditional taste, Eco-friendly service

Cons: Nothing out of the ordinary

I'll be back.

I've been living in the Worcester area my whole life and had never known this place was here. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. We went at 7:30pm on a Friday and the place was packed.

Pros: food, price

Cons: decor

Excellent Food!

Our waiter was knowledgeable about veganism and went out of his way to accommodate us. The mulligatawny was perfect on a rainy summer day. The aloo gohbi was excellent and not too oily. My husband loved his dosai. Everything was delicious.

Pros: great food, many vegan options

Wonderful south Indian food!

I've eaten here many times, ordered different dishes every time, and never was I disappointed. I still can't believe there's a restaurant such as this in Shrewsbury. Just don't be put off by the interior, you will leave totally satiated, guaranteed!

Pros: delicious, good value

Cons: interior

Awesome food and awesome people!

The only thing better than the friendly people and great service at Udupi is the food! Seriously, this is the best Indian food I have ever had. The entire menu is vegetarian, and practically everything can be made vegan (Try the Bhagan Bartha eggplant curry made with coconut milk). Don't be intimidated by any perceived language barrier, every member of the staff is totally used to altering menu items for vegans. They also have the best garlic naan bread (ask for it without butter). Oh, and the best rasam soup ever, so so HOT! This place is well worth supporting and my orders always are 100% accurate and delicious!

Pros: awesome food, very nice people, great service

Great South Indian

Really excellent South Indian food. Great dosas, idli, vada, and all the usual fascinating condiments. No atmosphere whatsoever - bright fluorescent lights and blank walls. Next time I'll get takeout. But this is certainly the best Indian food for some miles around.
