Expensive and average quality

The atmosphere was okay however was clearly understaffed. It took a long time for somebody to take our order. I ordered a long black and it was stone cold when coming out. We got the triple cheese burger ($22) was tiny, the bun was stale from sitting under the heat lamp for 15 mins while we waited. The jackfruit burger was no better ($26) was completely cold and on untoasted GF bread that was stale. Both orders came with sweet potato fries which were cold and very small portions for the price.

Pros: All vegan menu.

Cons: Expensive , Disappointing portion size

Good - But Well Overpriced

Disappointing vegan place, egg and bacon McMuffin was good however for $22... what? Pretty sure I’ll grab one from LOTF for $5. Decent food but way over priced for what you get

Mock meat galore

We ate here for the first time and really enjoyed it. Especially the back courtyard set up. We shared the Big Breakfast and the Big Buttermilk Chicken Bacon & Waffle Platter. A good place to go if you want the mock meat experience. The Real Chai Latte was delicious.

Pros: Extras such as vegan egg, haloumi, vegan bacon, Rear courtyard

Cons: No split bills on weekends, Confusion over opening hours

Burgerlicious

Have eaten there twice and enjoyed the experience both times. Whether chosing from the menu or going for the specials you taste buds will love you.

Pros: Variety of choices

Cons: A little expensive but worth the treat

Brunch/lunch treat

I’ve been in the neighborhood a few times recently and worked my way through some of the lunch items. The pulled jackfruit chipotle burger ($22) was moist and delicious with just a little bite. Although I kind of like the Lizz burger ($22), which was also moist and tasty with delicious mushroom, haloumi and aioli, the big ring of pineapple in it did nothing for my savoury tastes and detracted from an otherwise good burger. The tempeh BLT ($17) was just fantastic: tasty, substantial and savoury. Staff are very friendly and while prices are not low, the food is high quality.

Amazing food, amazing coffee, amazing atmosphere.

Everything is vegan, EVERYTHING. Not only is it all vegan, it’s all delicious. The croque madam is to die for. Coffee is outstanding with all the vegan milk choices. It’s now my regular weekly treat.

Not quite

Top marks for presentation but I found the flavours were not quite balanced and a little too rich, unfortunately. Like a lot of veg/vegan places in recent times, prices are higher and not really delivering great value.

The cafe was very busy so hopefully, they will be well supported and continue to refine the menu.

2 1/2 stars

Nice space and possibly the warmest cafe I have ever been in, which no doubt many customers will appreciate at this time of year!

I came here expecting something well above average, the photos look very good and there are positive reviews which appear genuine.
The big breakfast was very average in all respects aside from price. The tempeh while plentiful was bland, the scrambles flavour was salt, the mushrooms were very oily, the avo/guac was devoid of flavour, as was the beetroot hummus, the pane croccante would have preferably been a heartier bread and the kale appeared completely out of place.

The triple cheese burger was passable for $16, but was $22. The tempeh advertised as 'crispy' was gluggy, which added to the natural and expected glugginess of the other ingredients made it a triple glug burger.

The sweet potato fries were cooked better than most places due to being cut thinly, but are still an undesirable alternative to potato fries.

The beetroot latte was very nice, this is the first time that I have had one and am keen to try another elsewhere.

We shared a communal table with 2 couples, which I have no issue with at all in a vegan eatery. Neither couple appeared to enjoy their meals, but when asked by the wait staff, they said the food was good, as too many of us tend to do.

The Croque Madame, the Lizz burger and the Butterfly Pea Flower Latte all sound interesting, I hope to return to sample them soon and be impressed.

Pros: Vegan, Beetroot latte

Cons: Food, Price

Welcome!

It's great that Vegan food is starting to appear in unexpected places in Melbourne. Ubuntu is all new and shiny with a friendly, no nonsense professional vibe. The menu is vibrant, the food is healthy, well presented and colourful. The 'Big Breakfast' is generous and tasty, crispy tempeh, beetroot hummus, kale, mushrooms, avocado, thick sliced sourdough, plus the faux eggs and a great vegan haloumi....fantastic! Good coffee and some unique and tempting drinks. Can't wait to go back!

Pros: generous serves, good tea and coffee, friendly service

Cons: a bit pricey (but worth it)

Exceptional Eats

Sensational choice, superb coffee and really pleasant and fun staff. I’m not based in Melbourne, but now I’ve eaten here, I might have to move.

Wrong Order

You order a burger from the menu you get a burger put in front of you, what do you do? You take a bite! Unfortunately this wasn’t the burger I ordered. I told them not to worrying as I already took a bite and I didn’t want to waste food. My sister ordered the bowl, I asked for the kale to be on the side and then specified that’s not a side of kale… just for the kale IN the bowl to be on the side. The kale was not on the side.

Go up to pay. No discount for wrong order but instead a ‘well you couldn’t decided between the two burgers’ I didn’t even know there was another burger option. I knew what I wanted before I even sat down. And they charged extra for a side of kale

3 stars for tasty food

Pros: Tasty Food

Cons: No Discount, Wrong Order

Delicious and friendly

Great dining experience. Delicious food that arrived promptly. The absolute best almond milk coffee ever! Cheerful staff. Table service hasn’t quite got into stride but can be forgiven as the cafe has only just opened.
