Exquisite - Edit
My experience here was amazing from start to finish. The service is amazing. The garden area is great, lovely on a nice day.
Read moreThe food is Michelin star good. The okra salad and red red stew were my favorites. The jollof rice balls and lions make dish were tasty too. Everything was so flavorful and had layers of different tastes in each bite. Will be coming back here!

Creative and delicious - Edit
Patio was charming and menu was incredibly creative. Especially loved the charred okra. It's really hard to find okra done well, and this chef gets it exactly right.

Finally! - Edit
I’ve been wanting to come to Ubuntu for months but hadn’t been to LA in a while to do so. Finally made it and this was the first place I hit upon landing. We ordered a lot of things and everything tasted great. What I found myself enjoying the most was the maafe and the grilled cabbage. Yum! Definitely nice to come here with a group so you can try everything.

Amazing food - Edit
We stopped in here knowing it was vegan but not having read much about it. We were blown away! We happened to be there when they were doing their Soul Food Sunday special and got the collard greens and cornbread which were amazing. Our other favorite dish was the peanut stew.
Read moreOnly downside was we waited a long time for the check, but they were completely packed so I understand.

Tough service - Edit
I was really looking forward to our reservation because this restaurant been on my list for a while. Unfortunately, a group that had come in about 10 minutes after we did were able to place their orders before us and it was a solid 15 to 20 minutes before we were even able to place a drink order. When our waiter came back, we didn’t know what to order for food, and he just threw out the first two items on the menu and said they were really good but we did mention that we were hungry. When our orders came, they were extremely small plates, even though we saw other people had larger portions. We felt that our waiter did not like us😒I love supporting independent vegan restaurants and I was really excited for this experience, but this definitely made me not want to come back

Incredible - Edit
I don’t leave reviews often, but the food was so good I felt compelled to. This food is better than some of the Michelin star restaurants I’ve been to. Don’t sleep on the ocra salad. We came on Soul Food Sunday so we got the two specials which were the collard green wrap and cornbread. We also got the arancini, maafe, and lion mane mushroom pie. It was all incredible.

Creamy spicy peanut stew! - Edit
The stew was just amazing, especially with the cilantro rice. I wish this restaurant just doubled down on their African main dish specialties.
Read moreWe also got the mushroom pie, which tasted similar to a samosa and came only with tamarind sauce making it difficult to eat. The Jollof Arancini was excessively oily and yet too dry, which in itself is hard to achieve. It really should have come with a lot more sauce.
The mocktails were flavorless

Must try spot - Edit
We loved every dish we tried here. They had a great range of flavors and spices. My favorite was the Red Red Stew as it had the spice kick I was craving. All the food tasted fresh and not overly oily, salty, etc. I will definitely be back here and hope this unique spot gets the attention it deserves.

AMAZING! - Edit
Top of our list of vegans places to try and did not disappoint - everything was DELICIOUS and beautiful too. Lions Mane pie (like a pasty), okra salad, Maafe stew, Jollof arancini, great beer from Crown & Hops in Inglewood, and the dawadawa semi-freddo for dessert. Wonderful service. Great music. 10 stars.

Wow is all I can say… - Edit
I came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and wow, this restaurant oozes hip and cool in both ambience and food. The restaurant offers indoor and garden seating which are both perfectly decorated spaces. We ordered everything on the menu which we all enjoyed. I would say the Charred Okra Salad and the Palm Bisque were my favorite. I wouldn’t hesitate coming back for another special occasion.

One of the best meals of my life - Edit
Holy cow, did Ubuntu blow me away. The decor and atmosphere was stunning (amazing light fixtures and moss on the walls) with a beautiful exterior patio. Staff was super friendly and just as excited to tell us about the food as we were to eat it.
Read moreThe flavors were like that moment in Ratatouille where your palette just sings eating them. Such depth of spices and really creative and thoughtful menu. It is small plates and quite expensive, but totally worth the splurge.
The joloff arancini, cabbage, okra, and lions mane pie were all SPECTACULAR. The only thing that was slightly disappointing were the trumpet mushrooms, which were a bit too chewy for me texturally.
Pros: All vegan elevated food, Amazing flavors and spices , Atmosphere and staff
Cons: Expensive
