Serves meat, vegan options available. Cafe and bar established early-2014. Owners are interested in vegan, raw, and gluten-free food. At breakfast there is a coconut yogurt granola. Lunch includes salads, wraps, raw cakes and sweets. Dinner also has veg/vegan choices. Removed December 2021 - no vegan options.

Avoid - Edit
Came to have lunch here recently and our order was forgotten. My friend commented that this has previously happened with them. We waited for nearly an hour and eventually asked for a refund.
Read moreAnother time I visited there were flies on the brownies/ cookies. The food was left uncovered.
As another person mentioned, the chocolate peanut butter smoothie has been reformulated and now tastes incredibly cheap - based on the new smoothie, it should be repriced.
Disappointed, as this used to be my favourite cafe in Hamilton (photos from other times). I will not bother giving Two Birds another go, as it is clear that the food and service has deteriorated beyond repair.
Pros: Vegan options
Cons: Overpriced, Poor customer service, Unhygenic

Updated review: not vegan-friendly anymore! - Edit
I used to go there often for lunch or brunch. I loved their "nourish bowl", with grains + roasted and fresh veggies, salads and a nice dressing, or african beany dish, falafels (vegan protein bowl), wraps, etc. And some great-looking desserts...
Read moreThe tenancy seems to have changed, now, and I didn't see any vegan option on the menu! To be avoided.

Disgusting - Edit
Came in last Monday 29th September to find this place a disappointment customer service lacking, Bastia made coffee was terrible food was disgusting and overly priced. The only person on your staff who knew what they were doing was the waitress who placing my order in she was absolutely welcoming she was a short lady pakeha with dark hair in a bun wearing her bumble bee mask only on actually wearing one. Definitely deserve a pay rise

Very good! - Edit
Probably my go to for vegan dining with omnis. Beautiful hidden gem of a cafe with outdoor garden setting. Extensive vegan raw slices, to die for! The Vegan brownie is 👌🏼. Vegan pancakes, breakfast and lunch options. Great spot!

Excellent and disappointed! - Edit
Smoothies, tumeric latte were great and the raw desserts amazing! Also lovely outside sitting courtyard and environment
Read moreBut.....
Fries marked as vegan but cooked in same oil as meat!!!! One of the staff tried to are that they were still vegan. Very disappointed with attitude and the fact we could not eat a naughty Sunday Hot Chip!
Vegan bowls were ok but not amazing and for $20 a bowl we will certainly not repeat the experience
Would however be back for raw slice and smoothie!
Pros: Amazing raw desserts
Cons: Expensive, Vegan chips cooked in same oil as meat!

The only things that go in their oil are their fries (agira potato, kumara and polenta) and Kale. They don’t have any deep fried meats on the menu.

Amazing every time - Edit
I’ve eaten here a few times while in Hamilton and it is hands down the best vegan food I had in New Zealand. Tried their salads, brownie, satay dish (without meat) and their vegan nachos. Couldn’t recommend more highly

Amazing cafe with a diverse range of options - Edit
I think this cafe is awesome! I like how there is a huge range of options from very clean vegan salads and vege bowls to burgers and chocolate cookies.
Read moreI don't mind the fact that amongst all of the vegan goodies they have a few bacon and chicken options, this means you can take your meat eating friends here for lunch without feeling like you are dragging them somewhere they won't enjoy. Keep in mind it can be rather pricey.
Highly recommend trying the choc PB smoothie and vegan cookies!
Pros: Diverse options , Friendly staff, Choc PB smoothie and sweet treats
Cons: Expensive

amazing options! - Edit
I personally love this place. There are DELICIOUS sweet treats available like brownies and slices, most are gluten free and vegan, everything is labeled. There's also yummy vegan options on the menu. They know how to make things really well with rich flavors! Prices are relevant to the quality of the food. Super smoothies are awesome too. Has sunny outdoor seating, good music, friendly staff and magazines to read plus all the different milks available for coffee!

Vegan and raw offerings at pub eatery - Edit
This is an unusual eatery in meat crazy New Zealand, as it is attached to a pub, and has developed from a previous incarnation as a pub cafe and bar. Like its predecessor, Two Birds is very health conscious in its menus. It's is a great place for vegans and vegetarians to rendezvous with their more omnivorous friends. The lunch and evening menu, for example, offers a 'nourish plate' option - a vegan base is raw and cooked vegetables, but meat eaters can add chicken or fish if they wish. A delicious range of raw and/ or gluten free cakes and desserts is on offer. Coconut yoghurt granola is a delicious breakfast item. When ordering vegan, make sure of ingredients (tempura for example includes eggwhites).

Cons: Clarify ingredients when ordering vegan
