Only must stop shop for vegans on the island. - Edit
Two vegan wrap options and a vegan chili! All were phenomenal and they have an awesome salad bar! Also the vegan coconut frozen yogurt allows vegans to take part in the frozen yogurt bar. One of the most health friendly restaurants I've ever been to and by far the most vegan friendly place around.

Vegan wrap & frozen yogurt - Edit
Had the vegan wrap (no asparagus/artichoke - can't remember which one was included) on a spinach wrap instead of the romaine. Very good, if a bit "loose". All the black beans fell out and I wound up eating them with a spoon. I would have liked a thicker sauce (rather than the thin vinagrette) to hold all the ingredients together.
Also had the coconut flavored yogurt (only vegan options). And put a scoop of blueberry boba (or tapioca pearls as they labeled it) on top. Boba was juice filled, not the chewy kind I'm used to. What a nice squishy splash of flavor.
Only drawback was the island's internet connection was down, so numerous merchants (including this one) had no way to accept credit cards. I would have ordered more, but I'm glad I had enough cash to pay for what I did order :).
Being Mackinac, prices were definately on the high side. $9.75 for a wrap, $0.55/oz for frozen yogurt and $0.65/oz for the salad bar. But staff were quite helpful - going back to the kitchen a couple of times to check ingredients and such.
Had a nice conversation with the owner afterwards. He really wants to improve food offerings on the island... and he has. A big thank you!
Pros: VEGAN options, boba topping for frozen yogurt, passionate owner
Cons: extremely small eating area, bit overpriced, no correct sized lids for yogurt containers

Great Vegan Options - Edit
My family loved this place. This is our second visit and each time, my vegan family gets a filling vegan meal. There were 2 vegan sandwich options and 2 vegan soup options both times we went. There is also a make-your-own sundae bar, with non-dairy coconut ice cream as an option. Staff is friendly and willing to answer questions about the menu.
Pros: Fresh, Healthy, Filling
Cons: Crowded eating area

I really enjoyed my vegan wrap, chili and coconut yogurt topped with lots of yummy fresh fruit! I would be back again next week if not for the ferry ride!
The owners were a pleasure to visit with.
I HIGHLY recommend to everyone! I would give 5 stars if I could!
Pros: Vegan options, A variety of fresh fruit toppings for vegan frozen, Delightful owners
Cons: Styrofoam cups

An oasis - Edit
About half of their menu is vegetarian or vegan (even accidentally). Really friendly staff that will ask the cooks to double check if things are vegan if they aren't labeled as such. They also have a salad bar.
Pros: Most veg-friendly place on the island, Good food, Friendly staff
Cons: Cost (somewhat expensive with small portions)

KatieC. 18 Jul 2016 - I agree about the cost. It was a little costly to feed my family of four on a budget. Definitely worth it, since there were no other options!

Veggie and vegan options - Edit
We were so glad to come across this listing and place when visiting Mackinac Island. We ordered the chili and veggie wrap, both of which were very tasty. We also tried the frozen yoghurt and, since the dairy free coconut one was so nice, came back the next day for some more.

Delicious wraps and desserts - Edit
Small place on the main thoroughfare in Mackinac Island. I am not a big fan of wraps but the vegetarian was very delicious and nutritious as well. The vegetarian chili was great and the salad bar was much better than the typical Midwest salad bar. Lots of options. Did not try the desserts but they looked delicious and other patrons were very complimentary.

Finding this place was a huge relief - Edit
When I visited the island I was beyond relieved to find Twist and Sprout. The food was fresh, delicious, and filling. The owner was incredibly friendly and engaging. As it turns out we grew up in the same area, which earned him extra bonus points!
I would recommend this place to vegans and omnis alike. Clean, friendly, amazing food. It's a nice reprieve from the greasy and sugary tourist food and bar fare.

Happy about healthy options! - Edit
During a recent trip to Macinack Island, my travel-mate and I were having a difficult time finding vegetarian & vegan friendly restaurants. It was also difficult to find vegetables (especially raw ones) almost anywhere! We were delighted to find twist-n-sprouts... and thrilled to find kale!
Pros: Clean, Salad Bar, Knowledgeable Staff
Cons: Limited Hours , Out of items on the menu

Better Than Anticipated! - Edit
Mackinac is known for a lot of things, but vegetarian/vegan friendly food is not among them! And while the island will likely never become a vegan Mecca, it is slowly becoming more vegan friendly. My wife and I stopped in to Twist 'N Sprouts today looking for something healthful and were not disappointed! I ordered the vegetarian wrap which was full of tasty veggies, chickpeas and a balsamic vinegarette. It was served with some chips and, while not huge, I left quite full (and I have quite an appetite). My wife went with the salad bar and we were impressed with the selection.
For her plate of salad, my wrap and a bottle of water it was about $25, which is relatively reasonable for island standards. We both left satisfied, and happy that we found a place that actually advertised veggie/vegan options (they had a vegan coconut frozen yogurt as well! We didn't try that but I imagine it was also tasty).
However the best part of lunch was interacting with the owner. He talked with all the customers and seemed interested in us all. When he found out we were vegetarians he rushed to the back and brought out a sample of vegetarian chili he had created. Not only was it delicious, but it made me smile that he was so proud of it and anxious to share.
Overall I was very glad that we stopped in, and recommend it!
