Family go-to

Solid brunch spot for family, and visitors especially when dining with omnis.

Food clearly labeled, filling and solid.

Lovely brunch spot

This place has immaculate vibes and delicious food! Plenty of options for vegans and even yummy coffee bread on the house to start. They ask right when you arrive if there are any vegans. I’ll probably be going back on this trip because it was so enjoyable!

Let’s Eat!

They greet you right away with a vegan coffee cake a bowl of fruit which is nice. The tofu scramble is pretty good, made even better with a little bit of chipotle Tabasco that they have on hand.

I've eaten here for brunch a few times and it was OK. Good range of vegan options but this location was really far from my home (or my hotel when visiting), and I did not feel the need to go out of my way just to eat at Tweet based on the options / flavors / experience. That said, it's a great option if your near the restaurant, but there are other places I'd prefer to eat brunch...such as The Chicago Diner (which I would always drive out my way for).

Pretty Good Food

This is a nice place to go for a casual lunch out. Their food is pretty good, and there is a decent array of options for vegans that are also gluten free. They cook their beyond burger really well. The staff are kind and knowledgeable about the vegan choices.

Best bfast Burrito WOW

Couldn’t be better. Will be going back every weekend for brunch.
It was quite busy on Memorial Day Weekend Sunday, but the wait wasn’t too long, and you could wait at the bar. The mimosa at the bar was pretty great, but the following one brought to the table was a little too strong and need more OJ for sweetness.
The service was excellent. Truly, the team of people to get us to the bar, our table, show the restrooms, everything, were SO nice.
We arrived to complimentary coffee cake at the table and there was a specifically vegan one for me (bc they asked when taking our name at the front) - SO thoughtful!
I was so excited to order a breakfast burrito. Favorite dang thing. The #7 was delicious, a little heavy on the SW flavor, so I might try #5 (more plain tofu) next time. But honestly, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to try the other things on the menu, the breakfast burrito is so good.

Tried the #5 burrito (not SW scrambled and avocado has to be specifically requested) still super delicious. Will probably go for the SW 7 next time. This time I also had the option of warm cooked apples - very good as a sweet side option.

Great brunch and bar

I adore the bartenders who work there. The owner went plant-based a few years ago and the vegan options keep getting better and better.

However, I'd say that this is more of a fun neighborhood place where you can run into folks from Uptown, Edgewater, and Andersonville, and just enjoy the atmosphere.

clear vegan options

I had brunch here in April 2018. All staff were very knowledgeable about the vegan options. I had tacos, which were really tasty. Definitely recommend!

Good for Brunch

I went here while I was with someone who is GF. Both of us had a lot of options for good breakfast food. I got the Mt. Vegan with Black beans and tofu - it was so much and it had a lot of greens (not filling up space with just rice). Would recommend as a great brunch spot for groups with mix diets.

Pros: Lots of options

Cons: Long wait at peak hours, cash only

Poor service

The food itself was not bad it was mostly the service that we were not happy with. I ordered vegan pancakes off of the vegan menu and it came with non-vegan butter on it. The fruit was room temperature. Our waiter did a poor job on listening to what we wanted. When we had asked him to box up our food he threw away half of it. Overall not impressed.

Pros: Outdoor seating , Vegan and non-vegan options

Cons: Poor service

Owner is Now Plant Based!

I went to Tweet recently and the server let us know that the owner is now Plant Based! Very exciting news - as a result there are now a number of vegan options on the menu. I also received a little vegan cake when I arrived which was a change from my last visit (some time ago). The tamales were excellent and the portion was plentiful. The menu also now includes vegan pancakes, Beyond Burger and the Amazing Kale Burger (Yum!). Really happy to see the expanded vegan menu. It's nice to have restaurant options where vegans and meat eaters can enjoy a meal together - especially for breakfast, which I find to be a challenge to eat out, especially with non-vegan companions.

Pros: Options, Outdoor seating, Good Food

mostly good

...but they have no idea what to do with tofu! the tofu scramble is watery and bland. i admit, i'm a harsh judge when it comes to tofu, but it's not difficult to do it right.

that said, i have happily eaten here in the past and probably will in the future, just not anything tofu.

Pros: the give you coffee cake to eat immediately , they always bring fruit for the kids right away, the owner is great

Cons: need to learn to drain and season their tofu!, the black beans were pretty bland too

Great brunch place, but not a ton of vegan options

Tweet is in the neighborhood I have lived in for my entire life and it is a my parents and I have gone to many times throughout my childhood. Therefore, I have fond memories of ordering chocolate chip pancakes there, which unfortunately are not vegan, which makes me sad. However, they do have several vegan options, such as their vegan BLT and a tofu scramble, and I think it is really great that they vegan options since most places in the area do not, I just wish they had vegan pancakes. So, basically what I am saying, is that if you are vegetarian but not vegan, this place is absolutely wonderful, but if you are vegan, and you want an amazing vegan brunch, this probably wouldn't be my first choice.
