Nice place for lunch

The venue was near the beach with outdoor seating. The decor was bright and colourful with lots of cat art. The service was fast and friendly. We enjoyed it especially because some local cats visited us during our meal.

Pros: Nutritious vegetables , Outdoor seating , Vibrant decor

Cons: ice cream machine broken -no vegan dulce de leche

Very slim pickings for vegans

As of Dec 2022, there are only a couple of vegan options on the menu (pozole; guacamole and salsa; hummus; a vegan ice cream) and not all the veggie options in the online menu are available in the cafe. Additionally, we were informed by the rather surly wait staff that the cheese could not be removed from the lentil burger, and our request to have the pasta marinara without cheese was ignored. The food itself was bland and unremarkable.

Avoid.

Pros: Lots of cakes on offer if you eat dairy

Cons: Very few options for vegans

Nice place with several vegan options

Veggie burger cannot be made vegan as there's cheese in the patty so I was a bit disappointed but I had the hummus sandwich which was lovely. It was so full of veg and came with a beautiful side salad. They also had a superfood salad and fajitas that could be made vegan.

Pros: Beautiful, Great value , Multiple options

Healthful fresh options

Our family vacations in Akumal regularly and always goes here for breakfast at least once. This was my first trip as a vegan and it’s still one of my favorites. I had the Veggie hash without eggs or cheese (twice), and subbed some avocado on top. All of their dishes are generous portions, and they don’t skimp on the veggies! Fruit plate is huge (although just big slices of fruit, don’t expect bite sized chunks), the smoothies are wonderful, and they have plant milks for coffee. Had dinner here two nights as well and had the superfood salad which was perfect, and veggie fajitas were delicious. A little disappointed that none of their huge selection of baked goods is vegan, but they DO have a dulce de leche plant based ice cream, one of the only vegan desserts I found anywhere… but SO good I had it twice. I was a little afraid that this trip was going to be very difficult, but Turtle bay was a great choice!
