Serves meat, vegan options available. Restaurant serving both Indian and British cuisine. Vegan options include vegetable curries, side dishes, and more. Open Mon 12:00-23:00, Tue 16:00-00:00, Wed-Sun 12:00-23:00.
Strange set up as it seems to be a cross between a pub and a restaurant but don't let that put you off. The menu is obviously more set up for carnivores but vegan and vegetarian options are clearly labelled and the manager was very helpful.
For starters you are limited to onion bhaji if you are vegan but there are more vegetarian options. The tamarind sauce they serve with the bhaji is fantastic and they are very good.
There are two vegan main course options in the vegetarian section of the menu and we tried both and both were good. The korma, made with coconut milk, was mild and had a sweet cauliflower taste whilst the other option had quite a bit of heat, both were excellent. The Madras is also vegan if you choose vegetable.
Items on menu not marked as vegan but veg dishes are made with vegetable ghee (no dairy). The owner was lovely and took great care in explaining things that included dairy, he checked absolutely everything and made sure there was no contamination. He even checked the ingredients in the complimentary chocolates when it came to pay, and made suggestions on things they could make us next time we visited. And we will certainly be going back! Great atmosphere and friendly staff, and of course, the food was delicious!
