I'm confused :/

The first time I came here, I asked if the green curry with tofu was vegan, and the server said yes. So I ordered that and enjoyed it.

Came back a couple days later, asked if red curry with tofu would be vegan. This time I had a different server and she told me no, actually NONE of the curries can be made vegan, as they all contain shrimp paste. She recommended me a pad thai that could be made without eggs and fish sauce, so I went with that.

The pad thai was really good, but I'm upset that I apparently ate curry with shrimp paste? I have also seen other reviewers mention curry, so it doesn't seem like we're getting consistent info about what is or isn't vegan. They would benefit a lot from labels or a separate vegan menu, since it seems like some staff know more than others?

Pros: good pad thai, staff is very pleasant

Cons: staff are inconsistent about what is/isn't vegan, lack of labeling on menu, no vegan curry?

Wonderful

As other reviewers note, the menu does not indicate vegetarian or vegan options, but the staff was great and understood what vegan meant without any problems. My family had an excellent meal of phad Thai, basil stir fry, and yellow curry. If we pass through Topeka again, we will definitely eat here. I would give 5 stars if allowed.

Yummmmm!!

This might be our beat dinner on vacation. We used to live in Topeka and visited this restaurant when we lived there. Now we are living elsewhere and eat plant based. The Pad Thai (without egg and fish sauce) spice level medium was awesome!! We had it with veggies which were perfectly cooked. We also had the yellow curry, also good. This we had with tofu which was ok, a little rubbery. I would order with veggies as well again spice medium was perfect. Cleared our sinuses!! Super fast, and friendly

Pros: Great flavor!, Great understanding staff!!, I want to do back!! ASAP!!

Cons: Far from home!!

Delicious Pineapple Rice

What a jewel hidden in Topeka KS. The spot was carryout only but the food was wonderfully prepared. I truly enjoyed the pineapple rice, never had b4 but a great vegan dish just ask them to exclude the eggs.

Yes yes yes!

Tup Tim Thai is THE PLACE to get dinner in Topeka! My husband and I love going here and usually our waitstaff is knowledgeable and friendly. You can never go wrong with the Pad Thai!

If you get the sauce platter delivered with your dinner, be aware that one of the items has fish sauce. Our waitress didn’t remove it before bringing it out and we needed to ask for the ingredients of the sauces.

So yummy!

I love this place! The Massaman Curry with tofu is delicious and filling! You can get the Spring Rolls minus meat for an appetizer and it's tasty! My favorite is the Pad Thai with tofu minus the egg and fish sauce and with extra veggies!

Pros: Great service and friendly , Always delicious , Love that you can substitute tofu

Cons: Can be pricey if you get an appetizer/cocktail

Authentic Thai Food

I lived in Thailand for 2 years and after eating at hundreds of Thai restaurants in Thailand and around the US I'm still blown away at the quality of the food at Tuptim Thai. It's really great Thai food. Get one of their curries with Tofu and vegetables and try Tom Kha soup. They don't have any problems making your order vegan.

might be the best thai in Kansas

This is truly the only restaurant in Topeka with numerous decent vegan options. That said, I wouldn't consider it "settling" at all -- I would still travel back to Topeka for it if I moved. The Pad Thai is great, and a very large portion of the menu can be made vegan (just ask for no egg or fish sauce and add tofu and/or veggies). The service is very good, even when it's busy. The staff is friendly. They also seem to be often refining their dishes, or at least how they present them. I'm often delighted to see the changes in the presentation. Their presentation is wonderful and always a pleasant surprise! They're not particularly cheap, but not very expensive either, and well worth the money.

Address Change

I went to this Restaurant on October 18, 2014. It was the night before my first 50k Trail Race.
They have moved to: 220 SW 29th St, Topeka, KS 66611
I had a Tofu Fresh Roll and the Panang Curry with fried Tofu! It was excellent. The service was great! There are both meat and vegan options. I would go back!

Pros: Wonderful Food, Great Service, Knowledgeable staff

Cons: Address incorrect on Happycow site

Good food!

With very little vegan options offered in Kansas, we don't expect to find tasty vegan food, especially Asian food in mid-west. Surprisingly, the food (spring rolls, green curry with eggplants, padh Thai, thai ice tea, and sticky mango rice)
we ordered were very delicious, especially the main entrees.

Tips for vegans: be sure not to order wontons as the wraps contains eggs ingredients.. Also, ask for coconut milk in the tea, since usually it's made with cow's milk.

Pros: Friendly staff and pretty good portions, Excellent food, Vegan options

Cons: Serve meat as well
