Sweet little place! Worth the walk! - Edit
This is a very small place with limited seating. Very casual. The mapo was great, and the service was fun. Great chat with the engaging and friendly young owner. A bit out of the way, but worth the walk for a budget meal. Seems to have a nice local clientele.

Read moreThere are several mapo tofu dishes to choose from aswell as very delicious gyoza and dessert.
I got the deluxe set which came with 4 different mapo tofu, rice, pickles and gyoza.
Everything tasted differently and delicious in its own way. The sesame one is very creamy whereas the spicy one is already quite spicy, but you can have them make it spicier if you want.
The gyoza are crunchy on the bottom and soft at the top, filled with tofu and vegetables and very juicy).
As dessert I got the tiramisu. It was delicious but I wouldn't call it tiramisu, rather 'douhua tiramisu style' or something like that. It was silken tofu drizzled with sirup and cocoa powder and an gold leaf. But I would come back to that restaurant for this dessert alone!
The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere in the restaurant is really nice and relaxed.

An exciting mapo tofu selection - Edit
I'm always excited at the prospect of a mapo tofu but I chose a bit poorly here. I got a cheese curry mapo and it was a tasty curry sauce but lacked the flavours that I really want in my mapo tofu. I was hoping it would be a bit more fusion but it wasn't. It was still a tasty dish but just not quite what I was looking for.
Read moreMy partner got a classic mapo tofu and she was very happy with her choice. It hit all the mapo tofu notes she was looking for and she was happy that it wasn't too spicy.
We all got gyoza too and they were delicious. They were quite small and very crispy. The main thing in the filling was some nicely seasoned silken tofu. I also got a cacao tiramisu for dessert. This was fine but nothing special. It didn't have any soaked biscuits and mostly felt like silken tofu sitting in a sweet syrup with a dusting of coffee and cocoa on top. I wouldn't order this if I went again.

Also another homemade and cozy small place we've eaten, all perfect! Free water like all restaurants we've visited so far and a very nice staff! We ordered the cheese curry and the mild white sesame tofu, both so delicious... The only sad point was all gyozas were already sold out at lunch time 😢 a good excuse to come back! Lol 😆

Tsuminaki Mapo Tofu is well worth a visit, especially for the deluxe set meal that includes several tofu dishes (each with quite different flavors) served with rice and a plate of exceptionally tasty gyoza. It’d be great if they could add some green veggie options to make the meal more balanced, but that’s the only thing we missed. Everything we had was first class, and the service is very friendly and helpful, too.

It was all just amazing. It had a bit of that izakaya atmosphere, so it was small but still roomy, and so lively. The staff were lovely and really friendly.

This has been my favourite Tokyo dining experience so far and is fighting for top spot out of all of my Japan meals!

The dish variety is increased further with ability to customise the spice level and add extra toppings, so really caters to all!
I can't think of anything else to say other than this place is 100% worth going to and will provide the best meal and dining experience in Tokyo!

Very delicious Mapo Tofu and Gyoza! The regular Mapo Tofu wasn’t too spicy, which is great if you are not used to extremely spicy food, but they have spicier options if you prefer that. I enjoyed the atmosphere and restaurant staff was very friendly as well. 🌱

One of the best meals I had on my trip to Japan. The mapo tofu is so yummy, and the gyozas are a great add-on. We unexpectedly visited this place on our last day in Tokyo, and I wish we had discovered it earlier. Highly recommend it to vegans or non-vegans. My husband is a non-vegetarian, and he really enjoyed it as well. Thank you for serving such a yummy meal!

I went twice in two days! Many places for vegan food are super empty but this is not one of those places. It is popular with locals and travelers which is great if you are solo. The owners are super nice and told me they are doing so well they have to move to a bigger place in February! Everything is so good I recommend the vegan plate to try all the different mapo dishes. Definitely a must try if you are in Japan!
