Nice place! - Edit
Several vegan options are well-marked on the menu. At the recommendation of another reviewer I had the Califlower and the TLT sandwich. Lots of excellent food! I shared the Squash Pie (with vegan whipped cream) with my friend, and we were both very happy. :)

Delicious - Edit
This was perfect for our party of three. It was hard to pick from the delicious sounding menu options. We started with grilled brussels. I ate the Ancient Grains bowl. It was beautifully made and every bite was perfect. The curry sweet potatoes and sugar snap peas were particularly outstanding. I also enjoyed a Spritzer with fresh pineapple juice.
Read moreWe shared a piece of flourless chocolate cake and vegan vanilla ice cream, and it was delicious.
The atmosphere was lovely and simple with a candle on each table. Our server checked on us at regular intervals and he was attentive and welcoming. The founder is Dr. Andrew Weil. Great walkable location.

Don’t have a ton of vegan options but the options you do have are really good. Menu is well labeled and food comes out quite quickly.

Despite not being 100% vegan this place is well worth a visit. - Edit
If you’re looking for high quality ingredients, relatively healthy choices with innovative dishes, this place is good.
Read moreThe venue is quite mammoth, feels more like a busy canteen. Seems to be child friendly. Service was attentive and fast. Vegan dishes are clearly labelled. The dishes are innovative: I had the tomato and watermelon salad which included avocado mousse, chopped almonds, sliced baby cucumber, lime and chilli. Tasted divine.
My only gripe was that the wines weren’t clearly marked as vegan (although they did have some, based on my research) and the waiter tried to tell me all wines are vegan 😡.
This is a good place to try out.

Great place - Edit
The restaurant has many vegan and vegetarian options. The menu items with meat are outnumbered by the non meat meals! The amount of of willingness the waiters have to alter items to meet dietary preferences is so relieving- especially because they are in such a busy area in town! Each time that I come they do not bat an eye when I ask for a slight alteration for it to be vegan.

Truly Delicious Food - Edit
True Food Kitchen was one of my favorite dinner spots this past trip to Chicago. I was looking for a spot that had interesting plant-based options that didn't rely solely on mock meats. TFK provided that even though the rest of the menu is not vegan.
Read moreMy friend and I made a reservation the day-of for a patio seat. It was wonderful dining outside in a light summer evening being surrounded by skyscrapers. We split their Charred Cauliflower which was a creamy, nutty app that really kicked off a great meal. We also tried their Edamame Guac which came with chips for dipping. The guac was a great take but I found the chips on the saltier side - ask for light salt if possible.
For our main item, we split their Ancient Grains Bowl (quinoa, miso sesame glazed sweet potatoes, onions, portobello, snow peas, and more). They were kind enough to split this into two portions so we each had our own mini bowl. I thought this dish was fantastic. Lots of amazing flavors and veggies combined together. I'd definitely come back and order this again.
I'm glad that we were able to swing by here and enjoy this meal. You can bring friends from different groups and diets, and they'll surely be able to find something to enjoy. Give it a try and feel the benefits of eating a bit cleaner than you normally would.
Pros: Excellent starters

Best vegan burger ever - Edit
I don’t usually order burgers at restaurants because it’s usually some sort of Impossible patty. I’m so glad I ordered theirs. It’s a house made patty made from nuts and mushrooms and it seriously had the best flavor of any vegan burger I’ve ever had.

Must Visit for Vegans in Chicago! - Edit
True Food Kitchen has plenty of vegan options on their menu which are very unique! I had the vegan burger with sweet potato pieces. This was delicious and far from your basic vegan burger! The bun was great and it had a homemade vegan patty which was so tasty and made of all nutritional ingredients! This is one of the best vegan burgers I’ve had! The sweet potato pieces were also very tasty (from someone who doesn’t usually like sweet potato). Everything was so fresh and all homemade and healthy; not greasy at all. I then had the vegan strawberry cheesecake for dessert which was the let down of the meal. The portion size was huge! However, it tasted horrible. With no strawberry or vanilla flavour; it had a weird texture and tasted of nothing. I didn’t eat any of it because I disliked it so much. Overall though, the prices are great for the quality and portion sizes! I love the restaurant inside; it has a great vibe and is designed so nicely. Staff were very friendly too. This is great for all vegans and non vegans! Such a great menu and an amazing restaurant in the heart of Chicago!

We had a great experience here. It's a bit more upscale than my usual dining. Servers all knew about all vegan options, and the menu was clearly marked, as well.

Great ambiance, love that they have filtered water, organic options, and menu categories for seasonal food. You scan a QR code to place an order and I was able to search ‘vegan’ for all the vegan options they had- made ordering super easy. I got the winter immunity soup and the charred cauliflower which were great. The vanilla ice cream was amazing and the matcha horchata was good too. #Veganuary

Good options but expensive - Edit
There are a decent amount of vegan options that vary in quality and price. The veggie burger is a great new addition to the menu but the sweet potatoes are in my opinion pretty bad. The Korean noodle bowl is good but can be a bit too oily at times.

New vegan burger is delicious - Edit
I wish I could give 5 stars! In the fall and winter, I love the vegan butternut squash pizza. The vegan mushroom pizza they have in spring and summer is good too but I do prefer the butternut squash pizza. This spring they added a vegan double cheeseburger though and it is AMAZING! It is not a fake meat burger, it’s a house made veggie burger with mushrooms and veggies. The cheese had good melt too. I wish they had actual fries at True Food because that would have been perfect with the burger. I got sweet potatoes as my side.
