Unique and scrumptious - Edit
Went to this Puerto Rican restaurant for the first time with the Birmingham vegan meet-up group. I ordered a taco plate with the mix of the three tacos (yucca, thuy's, rsvp's) vegan style, the chips with vegan queso, and the plantain chips. All were amazing! They also had a sweet potato empanada that night which we also delighted in alongside their one dessert (tembleque), which was vegan, and had us ooing and aaing with every bite. I will say that one thing we especially liked abou this place was that they did not use too much sugar or salt in their dishes, which I felt really brought out the unique flavors of the other ingredients, however, some of the newer vegans attending were more accustomed to more sugar/salt on their dishes.
Read moreI wish there were not so many chain restaurants listed on Happy Cow for the Birmingham area because this place doesn't stand out on the map like it should. So glad the Birmingham vegans meet-up group introduced us.
Pros: unique, LOTS of vegan options, friendly staff

Vegan Menu DELICIOUS FOOD and WONDERFUL SERVICE - Edit
I can’t say enough about this place. The manager was so kind and nice. We went on Monday so it was a special pop up food from a local chef and it was delicious! They gave us an extra drink on the house, we’re so friendly caring and attentive. I wish we lived in Birmingham so we could come back more often!!!

All Vegan menu - Edit
Fried foods. Not sure what the chicken legs are but very tasty. I got the egg roll Philly cheese steak. Made it Beyond Burger. Tasty but everything is fried. Off taste to fries due to oil I think. Didn't care for tea either. Nice they use paper products, real glass, and metal straws.

Cons: Fried, small menu due to covid. Seems bar food.

Worthy of five stars - Edit
Such tasty vegan Puerto Rican food in Birmingham AL. They have and extensive vegan menu with vegan cheese and proteins. We ordered the vegan cubano, the vegan breakfast sandwich, and the vegan nachos, and everything was so tasty. They also have a large heated and covered dog friendly patio. Highly recommended

Great options for vegans. - Edit
If you're a Birmingham Vegan, this is going to be your best option for eating out. They have the most options to choose from. Their vegan menu is expansive and well balanced.
Read moreHowever, I found all the food to be pretty bland. It was all just "ok". Typically Puerto Rican food is packed with flavor so this was off putting. The cauliflower breading texture is probably the best I've ever had, but again, it was bland.
I highly recommend the rice and beans, it was the most flavorful thing on the menu.
Pros: Full vegan menu, Indoor & outdoor seating, Plenty of parking
Cons: Food is lack luster.

Great find in Bham - Edit
I've been here a few times now. They are always super nice and love the separate vegan menu. They almost always have vegan desserts as well as specials on the board. On Sundays they do brunch until 5 PM or order off the regular veg menu. Ask for my signature drink, the Tropical Suicide Mimosa. (Tell them Betsy sent you.) They are always doing fun events here. On the first Sundays The Drag Brunch troupe put on a show. Check their social media for events. Everything on their menu has been superb and I can't wait to try more!

Was in town to visit a friend and finding vegan places was hard until we came here! The owner was so nice and suggested some items to try. I had an appetite for yucca fries & a rice bowl so I ordered that along w/ a pina colada. Sooooo yummy gosh I miss that drink. The restaurant look & atmosphere reminded you of Puerto Rico and it was super colorful. Would definitely return!

Delicious food - Edit
We were driving through Birmingham and found this place using this app. It is very small but what a find! The food was ridiculously good. My husband and I tried the sample platter of vegan guava empanadas, plantains, and Yuca tacos and we split The Pretender sandwich. That was a vegan patty, pineapple slaw, vegan aioli, and spinach. My picky vegan children were able to get the standard vegan grilled cheese so for everyone to eat and be happy= amazing restaurant.

Greasy, Fried Street Food - Edit
We were traveling through Birmingham and found this place on the app. It was a rainy day and the menu sounded unreal and we spent all morning discussing what we were going to get. Upon getting there, we looked at the vegan specific menu and were excited to try a few different things.
Read moreWe got our order of Yucca fries first, but could barely eat them. They had little taste, other than the oil that they were cooked in. Next up was the tofu dish with a side of plantain chips. The chips were overly salty, and the tofu was nothing special - just lightly fried tofu like you'd find at a thai restaurant.
My girlfriend ordered the Mofongo, which I'd describe as an open faced pot-pie filled with jackfruit. The jackfruit was very well marinated and tasted great, but the crust/bowl it was in was unbelievably salty. My girlfriend took a couple of bites and couldn't eat any more. As endurance athletes, we often seek out salty foods after a long run or ride, but this was next level salt. It made us both sick to our stomach.
The last dish to arrive was the Alcapurrias. They were out of our first choice, and we made an on-the-fly decision to give these a shot. They tasted and smelled of burnt oil and looked overcooked. We both took a bite each and left. The scent was unbearable and we spent the remainder of the day sick to our stomachs.
In addition to the food, the mimosa I received was barely half a glass of orange juice, with a splash of champagne. The food mostly tasted of burnt fryer oil and we barely ate half of it. I'm not sure if they hadn't changed the oil in a while, or if they were just overcooked, but something was off.
Overall, I'd say it sounds better than it is and its not healthy at all. The amount of salt and oil in the dish will keep me away.
Pros: Extensive Menu, Next to a Brewery
Cons: Everything is Fried and/or Salted, Overcooked Food, Expensive
