Just average for the price.

Got the vegan tacos. They are fairly bland and not that big for what you pay. Wont be back. Seems likes it's gone down hill based on recent reviews also.

Yes and no

Dec 2019
Not great today, unfortunately. The nachos, tofu asada burrito, and salad bowl were all under par. The fries were fine.

Nov 2016
A definite improvement on the Fitzroy eatery. Plenty of seating and less hectic when we visited.

Tofu Asada Burrito - excellent, very tasty
Mixed Taco Meal (1 Beans + 1 Tofu) - fair; small, awkward to eat and not good value
Quesadilla - vegan cheese and salsa filling; very good
Fries - freshly cooked, crispy and nicely seasoned

Arriba

3rd visit Dec 2019: Tofu asada burrito, small nachos, small fries. All very average/bland/wrong. Even the corn chips were poorly selected. Surprised that I have previously enjoyed the food here, perhaps this was just a bad night for them?

2nd visit Jan 2018: Mixed Burrito very good, Original Burrito very plain, Salad very good, Fries very fries-like

1st visit: The food and venue are far better than the other Trippy Taco outlet (a indmittedly that is not saying a great deal)
All of the food that we had was fairly decent apart from the Tacos which were ridiculously small to the point of being... pointless.

Cons: Still only vegetarian for no apparent reason, Parking

Good location

I was going to see something at the Palais and wanted to eat somewhere in St Kilda before the show. I booked a table but it is much bigger than the Fitzroy branch. We shared vegan nachos, taquitos and the mixed burrito. We both really liked the taquitos and the nachos. Neither of us enjoyed the burrito very much. I’m not sure whether the flavours just didn’t blend well or if it was lack of flavour but I think they should review this.
Service was quick (you order at the counter) and they were nice. I’d go back, but I won’t be ordering the burrito.

Authentic Mexican Vegan Style!

Loved it here. First time I had authentic tasting nachos since becoming a vegan. Have been trying to find a chance to get back again. Well worth the trip.

Pros: Super fast service , Great cheese, no weird vegan taste , So many different options

Exceptionally delicious

I eat here weekly. Am completely in love with the food. The service is always tops and the staff are beautiful. My non vegan friends love it too. Make sure to order a side of the Trippy fries. Dog friendly outside area. What’s not to love.

Pros: Very vegan friendly , Clean , Decor is cool

High hopes, unfortunately bland.

Went with a group of 10 the other night and the venue is cool and offers everything you'd want from a vegan/vego mexican eatery.. But the food lacks any kind of real burst of flavour. It's a shame bc it has potential but outside the hot sauces on the table it's not too exciting.

Pros: loads of vegan/dietary options, cool fitout/friendly staff, lots of mexican drink options

Cons: food is super bland.

Dull food

Love the concept of this place although the flavours across the board were very same same. We had a burrito and serve of quesadillas and both were lacking in flavour and tasted exactly the same? Just cheese and salsa and kinda brown avo...
I really wanted to be wowed by this this place because it totally vego but sorry to say I wasn’t.

Pros: Totally vego , Jarritos drinks

Cons: Expensive for what is was, Lack of interesting flavours, Lack of variety

Worth the trip

I hadn’t been here in a while and we ended up here for lunch on a Sunday. I like that there is more seating than the Fitzroy TT, but I’m pretty sure there was also quite a bit less topping on the nachos ($19.50 with vegan cheese), which was a bit disappointing. However, the Trippy Corn was absolutely delicious: charred but perfectly tender and not dry. I see Trippy as good, reliable food and will no doubt come back when I’m in St Kilda.

Pros: Great corn, Plenty of seating

Cons: Less topping on nachos

vegan and gluten free options

Super fast yummy food! Vegan and gluten free options. Cool selection of drinks too, decor is awesome and colourful. Boyfriend got tofu burrito says it was best burrito he's ever had but he was sad there wasn't any rice in it, he was still hungry after

Cozy place with great food

We ordered a few different items from the menu (vegan options on most dishes!) but the winner for me was the quesadilla! The place was really cozy with fun decor.

Fun and festive Mexican place

Love the décor, piñatas, wooden masks, and other Mexican art. Staff is friendly. Vegan options for almost all items on menu. I ordered vegan piña colada, and vegan tofu asada burrito. But there were so many other choices that made the decision difficult. Order and pay at counter and then they will bring your food. Delicious

Pros: Lots of vegan options , perfect after St. Kilda pier visit, full bar

Cons: pay extra to make items vegan (but still reasonabl

Excellent and fresh food, friendly people!

The food was fresh and delicious: excellent tacos, lovely sweet corn tamales, and potent drinks. The owner is very friendly and clearly deeply invested in the place, and service was excellent. Totally recommend!

Great Mexican place!

Very tasty food for those who want to have something Mexican. We were very excited to find out such a place was within walking distance from where we were staying in St Kilda.
There are vegan options for all the dishes, and the vegan cheese is delicious! The portions are decent too, you are definitely going to leave the place full and satisfied. We enjoyed the burritos, especially the ones with smoked tofu, and the vegan cheese quesadillas. Ended up going to Trippy Taco 3 times while in Melbourne and would definitely become frequent visitors if we lived in this beautiful city :)

Pros: Mexican food, tasty vegan cheese, spicy sauces

No complaints!

We had a great night at Trippy Taco. You can choose to eat outside or inside, either way it's a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere. The usual TexMex fare, but with vegan options for everything. Nice flavours, fresh ingredients, and generous sized meals. And at around $100 for 5 people (who all left totally satisfied) I would say great value. Can't wait to get back there.

Pros: Vegetarian or Vegan

Cons: Not a good place for car parking.

Excellent, cheap, quick.

Lots of interesting things to try on the menu, vegan and gluten free marked. Good value, serves alcohol (including Mexican cocktails) although the decor is a bit 'fast food-y'. Well worth a visit.

Pros: Plenty of choice, Heplful staff, Fresh and quick

Awesome vegan mexican food for the Southside!

It's so great having a Trippy Taco location South of the river!

We ordered a large serve of the fries - they are so delicious with their spicy seasoning, a vegan quesadilla with salsa which was so creamy and delicious - quite cheap too, and vegan taquitos which were really nice and crispy and came with a side salad. I think they use daiya cheese because it was just so creamy and melts so well.

We also got the tortilla melt dessert which uses vegan chocolate spread and it was so delicious, it's a big tortilla folded over so it was enough for the two of us to share.

Great restaurant, excellent service and great vegan food!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Great vegan cheese, Yummy vegan dessert tortilla

Cons: Would like a choc hazelnut dessert tortilla using

Great No-Fuss Yummy Options

So happy that Trippy Taco has landed here in the south! Their food is enjoyed but not only me but also my friends and family who are not vegetarian or vegan.
Pretty reasonably priced for the amount of food you receive. Take-Away meals are also really convenient.
Would recommend the Tofu Asada Burrito.

Pros: Take-Away, All items can be made Vegan, Nice Location
