Great vegan food!

Just visiting and stopped by here. I ordered the create your own soul bowl with the ribs, yams, greens, mac n cheese and cornbread. Everything was delicious besides the yams.... honestly they were DISGUSTING. They tasted like Coca Cola... it was a very strange taste and I love yams - I’m from the south! Loved everything else but damn, those yams were yuck. Will stop by again when I’m in town!

Pros: All vegan!

Cons: Staff wasn’t very attentive or helpful at all

Amazing food, long wait times

Absolutely love the food every time I go here, however I’ve noticed that staff tend to be slow at tending to their customers. I once had to wait about 45 minutes for food when there were only two other people in the restaurant. Another time a friend and I waited about 15 minutes for a waiter to get our order. I’m not sure if this is intentional or if they are understaffed or what but this is the only issue I have every time I go. Hope this improves bc this place has great potential!

Pros: Amazing food, Variety of options, Pick up options available

Cons: Long wait times , Slow staff

Must-try!

Ordered from them twice as their food was so good! Love the Mac and cheese and nachos most of all. Their desserts weren’t as good, but considering the variety and amazing taste of the food I can’t complain. A must-try!

Pros: Nice variety of options , Great homemade recipes

Cons: Desserts are sub-par

They know how to do what they do best

Their soul food is beyond amazing. The maple butter was heavenly. Collards greens tasted meat savory somehow?! How did they do that. Mac and cheese was off the wall good.
The tacos not so much. Tortilla was limp and not worth the price.

Pros: Amazing food

Cons: Tacos weren't good

Lots of options

Love that fact they have a big menu to choose from. Some things are BOMB others is alright. They seem to always be a little bit short on staff. But then you do get their attention they are always very kind. Keep up the great work!

OMG amazingly delicious collard greens

They don't have too much in the way for GF options, but I got the collard greens, yams, strawberry lemonade, and the taco trio. I hope they can have a GF burger option in the future, that would be awesome. The collard greens are to die for and I will keep coming here just for them. The strawberry lemonade is made with real strawberries, super good. The yams are also wonderful, and my tacos were good too but obviously my favorite was the collards. :)

Pros: Delicious Collard Greens , Delicious Yams, Delicious Strawberry Lemonade

Cons: Only GF options are appetizers or soul food sides

I tried...

Walked up and was hardly even greeted. Whatever. No fussed... we all have our days. Ordered two meals and at the end of the order he tells me it will be ready in an hour. Umm... ok. Again, it was slightly busy. Came back in an hour and waited a bit more only to realize he handed me a bag without the cornbread. Went back and he got the cornbread and apologized. We asked if he put the maple butter in there and he assured us he had and then gave us a cookie as an apology. Got in the car and drove off... opened the cornbread - no maple butter.

I want to support this vegan spot, but damn this makes it hard. Nachos were such a let down. Burger and fries were good.

Pros: 100% vegan

Cons: Nachos were terrible, no attention to details..., No customer service... etc

Will certainly revisit!

The Cauliflower Wings were O.K. I expected more spicey flavor! The House BBQ Ribs, Mac and Cheese was tasty. The Yams were bland and so was the Southern Slaw. Being very picky about
SIaw , I usually don't order it in restaurants. I plan to revisit to try other items on their menu that sounds appealing to me.

Pros: Tasty Food, Friendly, Variety

Cons: Small portions

Boolin Buffalo

I’ve been to Trio a few times now. It is getting better and better all the time. I was craving some satisfying vegan comfort food today during the Covid19 societal shutdown. Trio delivered that comfort in a wrap with a side of sweet potato fries right from their window.

Pros: Tasty comfort food, Great local business

Cons: Higher priced

Nachos. Yes, nachos.

I’ve had a lot of vegan nachos, but Trio makes my personal favorite. They’re straight forward, but layered with tons of greatness. Also tried a wrap and their Mac and cheeze, which are solid options if that’s your thing.

Pros: Nachos, Enough variety overall

Simply Amazing!!!

I had an amazing experience at Trio. The food is great. on this go around, I purchased the double cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. It was the best plant-based burger I’ve had anywhere in the twin cities. My wife had the soul food platter and loved it- Mac n cheese, yams, greens, and cornbread. The food is awesome here. I’ve been here a few times. Everything is good and plant-based.

Pros: Everything is Vegan, Great customer service , The food is delicious

Will definitely be back!

We enjoyed everything we had. We tried the nachos as an appetizer which were very good but robust... Almost didn't have room for our main dishes! We tried a sample platter with the slaw, mac and cheese, and collard greens - all of which was wonderful. We also tried the soul bowl which was good - The riblets were a little chewy but flavor was good. Seemed to take a while for the food to come out, but it was worth the wait. Bright, fresh, atmosphere with good music playing in the background to set the overall vibe. Overall really pleased with our experience.

Great food!

I love supporting plant based restaurants. When we went there it was slow at first and there was only one server. We got cauliflower wings, onion rings, jackfruit sandwich, and collard greens, Mac and cheese, and coke slaw. All the food was delicious, but it took a bit to get the food and the one server was overwhelmed by people with now help. They also kept running out of stuff. Not sure what was going on that night. Maybe it’s better now! Great food if you are in the mood for vegan junk food!

For your soul

Everything I've tried at Trio has been delicious and my meat-eating friends agree. I could eat the Soul Bowl everyday... buffalo mac & cheese with collard greens topped with cornbread? It's got me already planning my next trip back!

Pros: Big menu, Black-owned, Sooo good

Cons: Service can be a little slow

Great Food, Poor Service

Our food (wings, cornbread, mac and cheese, chicken wrap) at TPB were all very good. However, the service was nearly non-existent and ruined what would have been a stellar experience. Our server was slow ( ~10 min) to come to our table to check in/take our order. Once we did order we waited another ~40 minutes before being told that our main order of ribs on the platter was not available. After placing a new order and waiting another 10 minutes we were seriously considering leaving without our food. As mentioned above the food was great, but not worth waiting an hour and a half for. Trio Plant Based just needs to work out their service kinks! The smoke detector was also beeping with a low battery the entire evening which was not ideal.

Pros: Food

Cons: Service, Ambience (music was a bit loud + smoke detector)

I want to eat everything

On my first visit I had the bbq pit burger, cauliflower wings, and the vanilla cake. All of it was amazing. This place gets very busy and could use more staff but they do a great job. I can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu.

Trio, more like primo

So they updated/change their menu recently, and I'm here for it. I have tried a few things on their new menu and here is what I'm ordering pretty consistently: Onion Rings and Mac Attack burger (with cajun fries). Overall the atmosphere is nice, the location is great, parking is usually ok. This is probably one of my favorite places to eat in the twin cities.

Pros: Comfort Food, friendly staff

Cons: Street parking

Great food!

Loved the food! The nachos were excellent - large enough to have as an entree, and the flour tortilla chips are home made and very good. It was a little spicy though - not sure which ingredient was the spicy one since they were all mixed together.

Falafel burger was also tasty, as well as the tacos.
