Health (style) food place - Edit
Typical to Shanghai, a place that totally could be completely plant based but still feels the need to serve an array of meat dishes. I’m not a businessman and I don’t know what the market demands to make ends meet, but someone needs to lead the way sometimes.
Read moreAnyway, their vegan stuff is up to speed, their tofu sauce is delicious — they know how to make plant based food. I come here for lunch and order delivery sometimes. Pizza wasn’t great, but Topolino next door has got you covered if that’s what you’re craving.
Their preserved tofu sauce is great but I was only offered Tabasco when I wanted to spicy it up. They could totally whip up some amazing original sauce if they wanted. Go on, make us proud.
Pros: Many vegan options, Healthy ingredients, Tofu sauce
Cons: Flavour is good but a bit uninspiring, Service is tepid at best, Only Tabasco available when I went

Vegan Desserts For The Deserving - Edit
This is part of a chain with branches in Beijing. I've been to this one a lot and the server Mark is great, he always remembers to give us the vegan menu without asking. They are trying to promote healthier eating and have launched a special vegan card which you earn points on for every time you order plant based dishes. They update their menu seasonally so I tried the new vegan sausage pizza and my girlfriend had the peanut tofu bowl. I've had the pizzas many times at Tribe, especially when they were buy 1 get 1 free and they've been ok but my problems with them are they're not like pizza. What I mean is the almond flour base is too chewy, not soft like pizza dough, and while they've been inventive with their coconut and rice cheese, they overdo it, sometimes less is more. You can now choose between the vegan cheeses so I went for the cashew, I was hoping for better but the pizza was smothered in the vegan cheese which was more like a white sauce, the vegan sausage was spicy and the whole thing was lukewarm. If I really want pizza I'll go to Pizza Street who don't overdo the vegan cheeses, they get it spot on. The peanut tofu bowl was really tasty, most of their vegan bowls are great. We tried the new vegan cheesecake and the carrot cake, both were really great, definitely a place to go if you're looking to get vegan desserts, they also do a really nice oat milk coffee. The space is large so you never feel crowded.

Stress free vegan options - Edit
I stumbled upon this place as I was walking past. All dietary requirements are very clearly labeled on the menu making order really easy. The staff were friendly and helpful and made ordering really easy. I will definitely be back.

Healthy food, mixed results - Edit
I got the tofu grain bowl, and one of the salads, and both were really good. Then I got the mediterranean lentil chickpea bowl, and it was very so-so. But if you're into simple, fresh, healthy food as-is, you'd probably be happy with that option too.
Read moreLots of vegan options, and they replace the grains in grain bowls with "pumpkin" (actually kabocha squash, I think) if you're avoiding the carbs, which is nice.

Eh - Edit
Okay so they do have many many options which is great buuut the food itself isn’t that special or good. Also, please do not get anything that has banana in it. I tried the banana pancakes and they tasted super bad and I also tried the banana bread which was also really bad. I don’t know what’s up with their bananas but please do not get them.

Variety of vege food - Edit
Good bowls, but some of them are kinda taste less. On every day of the week there’s different promotion 2 for 1. Definitely worth comming then, but would pay the regular price for the bowls.

Number of clearly marked vegan options. Vegan wrap was tasty and as was their house-made natural kombucha. Also have local craft beer on tap! Staff friendly and helpful

Bland - Edit
Lots of vegan options- noodles, granola, smoothies, a burger and some grain bowls. However, after coming here several times and trying different dishes, I’m sad to report that they were all bland and totally lacking in flavour. Disappointing considering the menu is on the more pricy side.

Great, healthy vegan options! - Edit
Even though Tribe isn't a vegan restaurant, they have a lot of vegan options! We tried the smoked tofu bowl and the organic vegan breakfast. Both were delicious. The breakfast came with veggie sausage, tofu scramble, a light tofu hollandaise suace, fried mushrooms, tomato, and some greens. The smoked tofu bowl had a great kimchi suace and lots of veggies. They also had vegan pizzas, more bowls, wraps, and a vegan burger.
Read moreFor dessert we got the vegan carrot cake and vegan brownie. Both were quite small but tasted so good. The carrot cake was so moist and warmed up, even a bit gooey. The brownie was rich and fudgey and paired perfectly with the vegan vanilla ice cream. This place isn't cheap, but isn't too expensive either. A meal and dessert for 2 was about 180 rmb.
Pros: lots of vegan options, healthy, English menu
Cons: drinks are expensive

Decent - Edit
They have a vegan menu. Ask for “全素菜单”. The vegan options are decent, salads are kind of bland but they do have a really delicious magic mushroom pizza. Pretty expensive but they have bogo specials during the week.
