Serves meat, vegan options available. Fusion restaurant serving Peruvian and international cuisine, with a vegetarian menu on the chalkboard, plus other lacto-veg options. At least one item is vegan by design (roasted vegetable plate), and others can be prepared vegan on request. English is spoken. Located a block northeast of Plaza Manco Capac (the main square) in Macchupicchu Pueblo (a.k.a. Aguas Calientes), down an alley and up a long flight of stairs. Look for the signs on the buildings on the northeast side of the plaza and then follow the signs down the alley and up the steps. Not wheelchair-accessible. NOTE: Offers lamb on their menu. Reported closed September 2021.

Good vegan plate - Edit
Enjoyed the meal. Good drinks too. Quaint atmosphere. As mentioned you walk up a lot of stairs to get to. I’d definitely go back.

Climb upstairs, 40 soles per dish average. - Edit
You need to "climb" uppstair between buildings to reach the restaurant, once there you find this nice cozy place, they showed me like 2 vegan chances, around 35, 40 soles per dish!. I didn't eat there since the prices were really expensive for me. But they were friendly and helpful.
Read morePros: Kind people, Nice place
Cons: Very expensive, Few vegan chances, Long narrow stairs up climb to get there.

Good vegetarian options - Edit
Though limited on vegan options, they had several vegetarian dishes. Between two of us, we had the wontons with vegetable filling (8 pieces) and the goat cheese ravioli (6 raviolis). Both were excellent! The prices are comparable to other restaurants in town (meaning higher than in Cusco), especially the ones geared towards tourists, but the food was very good.

Nice upscale place. We've been told the tomato soup has a vegan option too and it was delicious!

An absolute delight - Edit
After 6 days of hiking Choquequirao, this may as well have been Michelin star food. So tasty! Quite expensive, as is the rest of aguas Calientes but they put in the effort to make it worth it in my opinion. If you’re not on the tightest shoestring budget, or if you think you deserve a treat after the mountains then definitely try this place.

Lovely vibe - Edit
Delicious food and really lovey atmosphere. Only restaurant I saw in Agua Calientes that wasn’t a tacky tourist trap.

Super delicious! - Edit
At first: Yes, they only have ONE vegan main dish on their menu. But the staff is very friendly and helpful. They made us the tomato soup without cream and a vegan pasta with lots of vegetables. For dessert we chose the vegan one that is on the menu. Everything was very delicious, and totally worth the price!

disappointed with only 2 vegan options - Edit
I was looking forward to eating here.
Read moreFirst, they didn’t open until 12:30pm for lunch.
It seems people in Peru eat a late lunch. We were hungry at 11:00am.
So we went elsewhere for lunch, but came back for dinner.
But there were only 2 vegan options written on chalkboard. It isn’t what I was expecting. I think one option was a salad, and the other option may have been a veggie sandwich.
We didn’t eat there. I am sure this place is good for vegetarians, but very limited options for vegans.
Pros: vegetarian options
Cons: very little selection for vegans

Food just like home! - Edit
It had been a while since I had a meal as good as this one! I ordered the veggie sandwich made vegan (without cheese), it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I enjoyed it so much I went back the following night for another one! I can also recommend their limonada which became a favourite to drink while I was in Peru

Great vegetarian/vegan options - Edit
I came here right after visiting Machu Picchu. I asked someone on the main square for directions, as I did not have a good map for Aguas Calientes and the map on the happy cow app did not work. It was really not far from the main square though, in a narrow street up some very steep stairs.
Read moreI was happy to find such a nice looking place with plenty of vegetarian and (clearly indicated) vegan options. I had the veggie pasta, roasted veg in creamy white wine sauce, which tasted great. Not cheap, but then Aguas Calientes is an expensive village because of Machu Picchu.
Worth climbing all the stairs!

Has vegetarian menu & vegan options - Edit
Tucked around a corner and up a flight of stairs as it is, Tree House is a bit hard to find but worth the effort for those seeking a quality meal in an otherwise tourist-trap environment.
Read moreThere is a vegetarian menu on the chalkboard, plus a few veggie items on the paper menu. The only item during my visit (Sep '16) that was vegan by design was a roasted vegetable plate, which was exceptionally well prepared and very satisfying (see the photo I uploaded for the beautiful presentation). They were also willing to veganize other dishes.
They claim to use organic ingredients, which is another plus.
Friendly service, including a visit from the chef to discuss vegan options.
Enjoy!
