Serves meat, vegan options available. Asian cafe. Has veggie rolls, faux meats like duck and chicken, and lemongrass tofu. Reported closed to HappyCow, Oct 2015.
I gotta say, I'm pretty excited about the rapidly expanding range of veg*n Vietnamese food all over Melbourbne, particularly the inclusion of more mock coz, while I get that it's not everyone's cuppa, I do like to indulge.
I came by Trang for a late lunch today, avoiding the line-up. Downside was they were out of lemongrass tofu. No matter, there are about 5 other vegan options. I couldn't decide between eggplant tempura and roast mock duck. So I got both on one roll. The eggplant was fried fresh, with quite a thick crunchy crumb and slightly chewy flesh. The combo of flavours and textures on the roll was perfect and with fresh chilli in addition to the smoky, spicy sauce they use, it was quite fiery. For just $6 it was a filling lunch.
The menu lists a vegan iced coffee but not sure whether that means they serve it black or whether they have a sweetened condensed soy milk like some of the other Vietnamese veg*n restaurants around. I was also pleased to see that they have vegan jam and cinnamon donuts and vegan "Nutella" as a topping. So I'll be coming back for that. Although, I've found upon enquiring that the donuts are vegan at most Vietnamese bakeries, so that's one to ask your local.

The lemongrass tofu and faux duck roll are both filling and delicious. Friendly staff. Cheap. Will be coming back
