Pleasant surprise - Edit
As we were driving back from Sydney to Melbourne my partner noticed a sign on the highway that said "Vegetarian Food.".We had our doubts about what this meant but we investigated and it turned out that the destination was indeed a place that served vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free food, albeit simple fare. The owner was friendly and seemed enthusiastic about providing these options. The cafe is part of an antique shop, set up like an old-style corner store, and has old railway carriages providing some if its seating. We ordered vegan burgers and chips and they were very no-frills but it was nice to find such a place unexpectedly and the meals were AUS$10. The owner informed us that she intended to put a giant "VEGAN" sign on a nearby roof in the near future.
Pros: Clearly marked veg*n and gluten-free options, Unexpected surprise on quiet part of highway, Friendly owner
