Perfect for those wanting plant-based options

I was always under the impression that Trader Joe's was more of an "elitist" grocery store. When we first moved to the area, TJ was the closest grocery store, but we decided we would only go there if we needed specialty items, instead choosing to venture out further to Stop & Shop or King Kullen.

However, after a couple pretty expensive grocery trips, we wanted to try a full shopping at Trader Joe's...and realized we were spending a lot less! The tofu, tempeh, and almond milk, to name a few, have the best prices I've seen out here.

They have plenty of vegetarian products and a decent amount of vegan alternatives. I have found myself eating much healthier since shopping here though because so many veg options are vegetarian and not vegan. And this isn't a bad thing! I've been wanting to get away from processed alternatives, and TJ has helped with that! They even reward you for bringing your own bag by entering you in a raffle!

I don't know how other locations are, but the only real downside here is sometimes you get stuck in really long lines or blocked by people in those lines because they extend into the aisles, which can be very annoying.

Pros: Great veg options, Good prices, Friendly staff

Cons: Lines can be very annoying due to small location, Soy-based cheese slices contain dairy

Vegan Options

Just FYI Trader's offers a list of VEGAN products that they sell. It's at the info counter. They also have locations in Oceanside and Merrick if you are in south Nassau county.

Pros: Low prices, Most vegan products are cleary labeled, lots of organic options

Cons: no vegan cheese only casein soy cheese, they are a big national chain
