Nice option in small-town Texas - Edit
I have tried different vegan options there and they were all good; biscuits and gravy, cinnamon roll, black bean and potato tamales.

Delicious food and friendly staff - Edit
Cute local bakery that offers GF, vegetarian, and vegan options. They use different tongs when grabbing the food to prevent cross-contamination. The staff are nice and friendly. Very inclusive environment.

Cute lil' Shop on Main - Edit
Cute lil' shop on main street. It gives sweet hippie, grandma's house vibes. Everyone was helpful and inviting. There's a small picnic table out front, but for the most part, it's inside seating. I got biscuits and gravy - the biscuit was filling, but flakey and delicious. Gravy was good, but interesting. It tasted slightly sweet and was quite thick. With all the options, I'll definitely try something new next visit!

Great pastries, okay food - Edit
Had the vegan biscuits and gravy, a little bland but not bad. The portion was massive (go for the half size) and the prices were more than reasonable. We took home some cookies and a cupcake, all of which were incredible

Comfortable and relaxed - Edit
Stopped in to hide out from the Texas heat. They serve breakfast and lunch all day. Staff was extra helpful! I had the tofu BLT w/o bread, and they happily offered carrots and hummus as a substitute.

Lovely little gem in Bastrop - Edit
I love this bakery! They have an excellent selection of freshly baked vegan cookies and pastries along with a good number of vegan entrees that are all specially marked. Otherwise, everything else is vegetarian. I really enjoyed the freshly baked mini bundt and cookies I got along with the MayBLT. That, and the location in scenic downtown Bastrop make me eager to come back.

What an amazing surprise in Bastrop, TX! - Edit
I’m completely addicted to their cookies! Their vegan chocolate chip cookie in particular is so amazing. Tough Cookie is an all inclusive place where all sorts of people (cowboys, hipsters, moms, the local pig rescue, teens, etc.) from the Bastrop community frequent. The spirit in the store, and the yumminess of the food, make it an absolute treat to visit every time. Who would’ve ever thought that an all vegetarian bakery would exist in a small Texas town? We are so very lucky to have it!

Lots of options and pleasant crew - Edit
Staff was welcoming and happy to answer questions. I had biscuits and gravy, cinnamon roll (can’t miss), and pbcc cookie. The one thing that can be improved upon in my opinion is the coffee. They use Austin Java I believe, and the beans are not as high caliber as this bakery. Looking forward to more visits.

All the good things to eat! - Edit
Found this place through Happy Cow and Holy Cow was I happy to find it!!! The BLT was made with smoked tofu and wasn’t very bacon-y tasting but the avocado spread made up for it. I got an iced chai that was homemade and just right. For take out I got a cinnamon roll and a few different kinds of cookies. The cookies were so good they didn’t make it home! The cinnamon roll made breakfast the next day perfect!

Great Find - Edit
A hole in the wall tucked into the corner of downtown Bastrop. The cashier was very sweet and helpful. I got a cinnamon roll, pretzel dog, and may blt. The BLT was very filling and i made it halfway through the pretzel dog but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.... BLT was very delicious and had an avocado spread in there that made everything that much more amazing. The cinnamon roll was big and sweet. I devoured it in one sitting. I will be back for sure!

Delicious! We shared a cinnamon bun, and took PB bar and pretzel loaf to go! - Edit
Can’t recommend enough for vegan treats! We shared a cinnamon bun which was amazing. Hadn’t had one like this in years and years. The peanut butter bar we took for later was ridiculous. It (PB) had puffed rice cereal in it and was sooooo good! The pretzel loaf (tear away/dinner loaf) was delicious as well. I’ve been eating it with hummus. Yum. This place is amazing and such a treat. Thank you tough cookie!

Vegan Options in Bastrop, GREAT Desserts - Edit
I was thrilled to find a place with vegan food options in Bastrop. I wish there was a bigger food menu, though, since after two or three visits the vegan options get a bit boring. I love that they serve sandwiches on pretzel bread, though!
Read moreThe vegan bakery options are fantastic They have an oreo-type cookie and a sprinkle cookie that are to-die-for.
Wish they had a rewards program that incorporated more than just coffee purchases. Also, on my wishlist would be that they wouldn't use store-bought items like the lemonade and the frosting. They are served directly from the packaging.
I love that they have long hours and I have even found them open on holidays, but expect slower service at these times.
Pros: Cookies and baked goods, Long Hours, Vegan options
Cons: Food menu a bit small
