Exquisito - Edit

As stated below - 5 stars - Edit
Young entrepreneurs bringing ancient food back to Mexico City. The only non-vegan things on the menu are queso, butter, grasshoppers and honey. It‘s a small eatery with three tables to sit, lovely people and flavours and ingredients you didn‘t know existed.

Really nice ancestral food - Edit
I had the Tlacoyo with ajonjolí (sesame seeds), setas enmoladas and guacamole. Asked to have it without cheese.
Read moreIt was very tasty, but the portions are a bit small, so if you are hungry try going for their package deal where you also get a soup and jugo del dia at discount.
Pros: Very tasty, Traditional food, Friendly staff
Cons: Small portion, Only outdoor seating on the sidewalk

I had the chickpea stuffed amaranth Tlacoya, it was nice. However, there are better options to eat in this wonderful city.

Incredibly delicious, rustic and clean tasting. A wonderful glimpse into the cuisine of pre-hispanic people. Fast friendly service. I wanted to take a dozen of everything on the menu home. HIGHLY recommended.

Fantastic & Filling - Edit
Really lovely spot serving traditional pre-Colombian food. Everything is vegetarian except for the chapulines (crickets) and there are TONS of vegan options. Owners super friendly. A must.

Tasty, but some fillings need improvement - Edit
Great little spot for traditional Mexican Tlacoyos (sort of like empanadas made with tortilla dough). They offer a variety of fillings--such as mushrooms in mole sauce, chickpeas in achiote sauce, crickets, squash blossom and squash, etc. You also pick what you'd like to top your tlacoyo with--guacamole, cactus leaves, cheese and sour cream (not vegan), etc.
Read moreI tried the mushrooms in mole sauce, chickpeas, and squash blossom with squash. The chickpea one was my least favorite as the chickpeas were dry and flavorless. The mushroom one was tasty, but not extraordinary. The squash one was by far my favorite. It was actually flavorful and also felt very fresh--though all tlacoyos are prepared fresh when you order.
Overall I enjoyed my meal here, but only the squash blossom tlacoyo would I order again. The food is very healthy and fresh, and tlacoyos are definitely very traditionally Mexican, so this is a great spot to try some authentic (and vegan) Mexican food.
Pros: Tasty, Cheap

My favourite so far! Authentic Mexican food - Edit
Really wonderful small restaurant with freshly made traditional ancient Mexican fails. Lots of vegan options. The listing on happy count says also serves me right it only serves in sex and not actually animal flesh. But does serve cheese. We love down meal here and hope to come back on this trip.

A very special meal - Edit
For my first day in Mexico city I was looking for a special place to have lunch with my family. Located on a cute street, it has lovely outdoor seating and a tiny decorated kitchen. The food was amazing and even my omnivore dad had nothing to complain about (a miracle!). I had one of the combos and lemonade. Their concept is ancient mexican food and it's great! I hope they grow and launch a cookbook! I loved the fact that it's run by young entrepreneurs. I wish i could speak to them but alas we did not share a common language. The menu is mostly vegan & vegetarian, but i guess since they serve crickets it counts as meat on happy cow. Not sure I agree (without getting into a philosophical debate)... they totally deserve 5 stars! Music was great, very nice chill electronic. I highly recommend!

unique gem will have you coming back for more - Edit
I love this place! The staff, the atmosphere, the music, and their dedication to rescuing many forms of this ancient and delicious food. Lots of different toppings and fillings, like garbanzo and fava beans, mushrooms, potatoes and spinach, etc. Now, techhhhhnically it's not 100% vegetarian as they do have an option for chapulines (crickets), but that's it... no actual meat, lard, or anything like that in use. Check out and you'll be wanting to go back for more!
